Best wedges on the market?

TotallyStr8

Recommended Posts

I have access to and have hit many wedges out on the market past and present....Cleveland, Vokey, Fourteen, Chikara, Vega, Mizzy....etc

Nothing has compared to the new Scor wedges! Play from any lie, feel amazing and just the right amount of spin. These are game changers!

I can understand that. Heard good things about Scratch. When I got my Miura's, I had it down to two brands and Scratch was the other I was considering. Ultimately went with Miura after talking to so many folks that swore by them. Glad I did, but Scratch certainly has much to offer. Just can't believe the prices big companies sell all their crap for when you have higher quality options like Scratch, Miura, etc.. The other wedges I have hit are garbage compared to these Miuras. Sounds harsh, but that is the truth. Once my wife get's better (new to golf) I will get her some Miura wedges as well. My short game has got so much better since getting these Miura wedges.

Scratch wedges are probably the most reasonably priced wedges around. Fantastic quality for a great price!
You bought them I hope?!:worth:

danttherock, while I believe the miura's are very nice I wouldn't exactly consider them "on the market" They are pretty hard to get and chip is the only guy I have heard of who is a dealer.

my golftown had a full set of miura black wedges and they have 2 set of CB-501s and CB-301s both with aerotech steelfibers, so up here in the great white north, i believe they are "on the mareket"

unfortunately the wedges had steelfibers in them (i hate graphite) - and for $250 for one wedge, i dont want to be doing any shaft changing.

in addition, forged wedges wear faster and i find it more difficult to control distances on pitches and 3/4 shots. i need the feedback of a harder, more durable metal like my 17-4 stainless steel Tour S wedges heart.gif

Crap man. Someone is ripping folks a new one. Unless the shaft in question is $80 more than Nippon or KBS Tour shafts.

My Miura wedges were $170 if I recall.

Sounds like some price gouging.

Check with Chip if you are interested in a Miura wedge or iron set.

Out of curiosity, what do they run?

Might get the wife a set.

She is not good enough to appreciate a set of Miura's.

lol..

Seriously, what do Scratch wedges cost on average?

Really depends on you. I have found nothing that works better for me than Cleveland wedges (but not the Dynamic Sole Grind, ugh.) I have a friend who swears by Vokeys but I can never get them to work well for me. Then there are limited edition, special hand crafted wedges - like the Miuras. Not sure they work any better, but they are works of art. Nothing wrong with that - I do it with putters.

Anytime anyone asks what is the "best" about golf equipment they will never get a single answer because there are so many variables - and so many different people.
This. I had a pair of Vokey SM in oil can (52, 56) that I played for a season. Loved them green side, loved bunker shots, but couldn't hit them full power to save my life. My irons are PING i3's and my distance gap between my 48* S wedge and the 52* Vokey was about 40 yards full power. Demo'd some PING Tour-S's and promptly sold both Vokeys. Great wedges for sure, but not for everyone. I know I can do a lot more with the PINGs than I could those.

To each his own.

I love my scratch wedges so far. Unfotunatly my pops didn't do a good job with the epoxy when I reshafted and I had a head fly off for the first time. None the less I stuck it to five feet from 100 yars haha!

The ball or the head?? The latter would be more impressive...

Long time Vokey player, but have since switched to Mizuno MPT 52/58 setup with Spinner shafts.. Absolutely my favorite wedge so far... Feels awesome, looks great with a compact and skinny heel section... My only complaint, why know 46,47,48 or PW equivalent MPT??? I would drop my Mizuno PW in a heart beat for an MPT PW

Wedges are personal, everybody likes something different. I hate the vokeys I bought, they are terrible, feel like rocks, and I can 100% tell the difference between these cast hunks and forged wedges. Vokeys do have more customization though.

Ive fooled around with a mizuno and that felt great (may get those next), but for now going back to my callaway forged.

Dan i am sure you know better than anyone so i'm not trying to argue. We were holding an old worn out 588 and the new forged model together, and the older one is larger and seems to have more materiel toward the hose,, The new forged one is smaller and a tad more tear dropped, they are close but not the same to the naked eye. Still great, and i love them but i swear there is a difference

Thanks Dan,

I know two other miura dealers up here in canada who sell the wedge head itself for 180 plus taxes, but my golf town is outrageous - theyre selling a 4-PW CB-501 set for 2000 plus taxes
