Is the T/S just as easy to hit off the deck as the 4? I've got an extra spot in my bag and think a strong 3 wood could help on a lot of holes at my home course.
Mine is significantly harder to launch, probably due to fact i was fitted for the Accra XT80 in the normal 3 wood though, also my normal 3 wood is the second generation one with the grey crown and the visible weight plug in the bottom. Unsure why I was fit into an M5 with me only hitting it 200 at the time, must have been to do with a very quick transition, all I know is that it is absolute cash money.

My T/S has a UST Proforce Gold as bought for 10 bucks from a golfsmith used bin and that is a work in progress.

I did not like (trying to hit) the T/S off the deck but I might not have been hitting it well at the time (this was probably about 3 or 4 years ago).

I will be the first to admit that I have no love for the way TMAG has conducted business for the last 10 years or so, but I will be bagging a V Steel 3 wood now. Holy Cow! I bought one with a stock shaft off of BST for $25, and I am just blown away. This thing is friggin magic. I am hitting it longer than my driver. It is unbelievably easy to launch off the deck. I just looked at the club all day today and asked "where have you been all my life?" I did not think any fairway wood could beat my 915 but this thing just blows it away. There may be a 915f 3 wood hitting BST soon. Brothers and Sisters: I have seen the light.

What's so good about them, honestly? Never hit one but how could they be better than the new offerings? What about them are so much better than a 915 (my gamer), aeroburner tp, r15, g30, etc? Was it just one of the first really "great" fairways, and since its old it makes it seem so much better?

As far as distance goes I don't think it will be much longer for most people off the tee than any of the modern offerings. Most Fairways are created equal when it comes to actually teeing it up. I think what works best for you there is finding the right loft/head shape for your game. But hitting a fairway wood off the deck is where their individual sole design becomes a huge factor. The sole design determines how the fairway wood interacts with the turf, which is especially important out of the rough. Now for the "better" golfer sole design might not play a huge factor, because they consistently hit down on the ball with fairway woods. But, for the 90% of us who are double digit handicappers or above; a sole design that helps wood "glide" easier on the turf when we sweep it off the turf is more ideal. The raised "V" pattern on the bottom of the V Steel helps that gliding motion IMO. I cannot say that I have a scientific study behind this, it is just my general opinion.

One is subjective & one is performance-based, but I know I'm not alone with these two opinions:

1: V-Steels frame the ball better at address than other fairways
2: V-Steels are tend to be more consistent in their distances from a variety of lies than even new fairway offerings.

I agree with both these points generally - especially when compared against most clubs from last couple of years.

I'm currently engaged in a little old school FW shoot out to determine the spot in my bag for longest club hit from turf. Contestants are V-Steels in both 16.5 and 18, Cleveland Ti launcher in 19, and Mizuno MP-650 in 18.

The current leader is the V-Steel 18. It is not the longest but does provide near hybrid like consistency which is what I'm after.

Perfection would be the profile of the V-Steel, the sole of the Launcher, and the face height and paint scheme of the MP-650 all in 17 degrees.

That said, I like her bag a lot; I respect anyone who uses "old" equipment - everything in that bag was great all the way down to the center shafted Rossa.

How does she play with those nails? Seriously - I have to trim my nails before every range session otherwise they bug me. Also - can anyone tell me if there is any difference between the ladies V Steel head and the men's? Thanks
Those nails are fakes (look like plastics, I don't think they're acrylics) so she probably takes them off. Check the nail section of your local drugstore and you'll find a wall full of them...

About the difference between men's and women's V-steel clubheads, I wish I knew. My guess is they're the same head with different shafts, but that's only a guess.
