Looking to stick the V steel back in the bag after a few months. But I want to get rid of the stock shaft. Playing diamana D+ white 70g stiff in my 915 and a 95g project X 6.5 tip stiff in my 910 hybrid. It's a 13 loft so looking for something slightly higher launch. Any suggestions??

This isn't a real timely response, but if you can find it, a Purple Ice 85X is magic in that club.

yes sir...purple ice 85X my favorite fairway shaft.... Its magic In anything.. Im still playing one....many years later

Is the feeling the V steel is still better performance wise than current few woods?
Current woods are longer and probably more forgiving. However, the Vsteel has a great shape, great feel, great sound, and still goes the distance. It has fantastic turf interaction and does everything that you would want out of a fairway wood. I've hit longer and more forgiving fairways, but I keep coming back to the VSteel.

If I put an old(er) TaylorMade S-90 Plus Bubble shaft in my 15*, what kind of results would result?

I'm assuming most here will say it's an outdated or not as good as newer stuff response, but is it?

If so, would the shaft function okay in the V-Steel head?
I'm sure it would work and be ok. But it would kind of be like putting a 4 cylinder into a '68 Corvette. It would work, but why would you do that? Lol. I'm sure you'll be fine though.

I love my V-Steels and have 2 of each - 3 wood, 5 wood & 7 wood. The three wood is my go to club. I was thinking about reshafting the 3 wood with a Graphite Design Tour AD MT-6s. Any thoughts on the combination?

I got one a few weeks ago. Has the stock shaft in it still (I will reshaft it with a blueboard), but it is an awesome club off the deck. Much better than some of the options available today.

How is the V-steel with the blueboard shaft? Can you provide the shaft specs?

never should of sold my 4w with GD Pro lite shaft in it. BUT, recently picked up 5 wood to game again. I know the purple ice shaft has been discussed but impossible to find, anyone care to make a list of some other good shafts that fit in this club for cheap?

I've joined the club and picked up a v-steel 5 wood with NV hybrid shaft and some horrible sky marks on the crown for €20. What an awesome club. Nowhere near as long as my 915f @ 16.5 degrees but so easy to hit high and straight.

Is anyone using a 13 degree V-steel? I can't seem to hit this loft well compared to the 15 degree. I'm wondering if the problem is the shaft in the 13 as it is a Diamana and the 15 has a OEM mas2. Any suggestions for a shaft change would be welcome.

As noted above, I'm a big fan of the Purple Ice 85. That shaft is just magic in that club. I have it in the 13* V Steel, and it performs great off the tee and the deck. Hit the longest 3-wood tee shot of my life with that club, a 310-yard draw on dry fairways that left me 75 yards out. Yeah, it took me 4 to get down from there. :angry22:

Has anyone attempted to bend the hosel on the V Steel to change the face angle?

I picked one up to play around with, and the face looks like it's a tad shut to me. Anyone bent one open?

I have had this done, and it is possible. But I was bending the tour version, which has the .335 hosel, and not the retail version, which has the .350 hosel. I assume the outer diameter of the hosel is the same for both versions, which would make the wall thickness of the tour version thicker. That would make the retail version easier to bend, and easier to break. At used prices, though, bend away. If you break one, move on to the next one.

Just picked this one up and played a couple rounds.

I'm no single digit capper, but this thing is a rocketship!

Previously played a K15, and now an XR pro

It's more forgiving than the K15, my miss is fat usually. The Vsteel just glides into the ball where even the K15 would dig.

It's also longer than the XR on good hits. The Speeder shaft probably doesn't hurt

.335 shaft and split paint, 757 shaft.

No serial on the head, not sure if that means tour head, read somewhere that it did.

Did I get my $10 worth?! ;)

I was in the same boat 3 years ago. I put a TT DG S300 in because it was cheap and they are still in there 3 years later. I will never change.

I could NOT hit the 13 degree to save myself. I have the 15 now but I haven't given it a go yet, but just by looking at it at address I think I should be able to hit it much easier than that 13.

I've got a paint-break 13* with an old school Grafalloy ProLite35 stiff shaft. That club and the matching 18* 5-wood with the same shaft are the best fairway woods I've ever owned. The original V-Steels are probably the best fairways Taylormade ever made, but not many are fans of the original MAS2 shafts that came in them.

How about putting a True Temper EI-70 shaft in a 15 degree...anyone have any opinions?
