Any thoughts on a cheap high launching steel shaft for a v steel 5 wood?

 

Love the s300 in my 7 wood. Not sure how "high launching" it is necessarily, but definitely launches that head plenty high with my swing.

 

I have an s300 in my 7w and it launches plenty high... but it could be because its a 7w. You could try the GS series. GS95 would probably get the ball up pretty quick.

is it possible to cut down an oban kiyoshi white driver shaft and place it in a vsteel 5 wood? has anyone done this? I have one laying around and hate the shaft i have currently in the vsteel and was wondering if this could be done.

The short answer is 'yes'.

 

You can trim a driver shaft to play in a 5w. Make sure that you tip trim to the manufacturers recommended specs for a 5w vs a driver. Then you can butt trim to your desired length. Make sure that the shaft weight is what you want in a 5w vs a driver as well. Also, verify the tip diameter of your driver shaft to see if you need to shim the shaft into the VSteel.

Is there a standard swing weight of the v-steel fairways? I swung a reshafted 15 Dg 3 wood shafted with an aldilla nv6 60gm, and it was off and I checked it's swingweight at c 6 or c 7. I'm going to reshaft with a proper fairway shaft and wondered if there's an ideal swingweight for it, thanks anyone.

It's so cool to see this thread. I've always praised how awesome these fairways are. I think most of my friends thought I was nuts for playing these as long as I did/have. This is the first season since they came out that I don't have them in the bag. 915f and a pair of 816 hybrids took them out this year.

 

I've got the 3, 5 and 7 wood all in MINT shape and each shafted with a Whiteboard X-flex. Such gems. I've got them listed for sale locally but 0 interest so far. Being LH and over a decade old isn't really that exciting I guess lol. I think it's a sign to just keep them.

I switched from an Aldila RIP alpha 80 S to a Aldila NVS 85-R recently. I like the switch. I can get the ball REALLY high now. ;)

Still a big fan of this series. Too bad it's so hard to find one in good shape. Seriously, do people hit rocks with their clubs? Drag it on a rope behind their golf carts :/? Just stuck a Fuji pro 63 into my old 3 wood that had some of its shaft surface flaking off. Love it!

Still love this club. I have an X100 in my 15* V-Steel. I don't hit it often (usually Driver or 2 iron off most tees) but when I do, it performs as well as modern metals.

My newly acquired 5 wood paint break with a speeder 757 was delivered Tuesday. It measured in at 42" and felt a little light. Took it out Wednesday and didn't get along with it at all, so last night I added a half inch and a new grip. Today I took it to the range and Yahtzee! Was just killing it:)
