Taylormade V-Steel: Band of Brothers

I need a 4 wood to complete the set.

If you find them in bad shape, just take them somewhere and get them sand blasted. They come out great. It also takes a lot of the scratches and crap out of them. I did it with my 3 and 5 wood heads. Here is what the 3 wood looked like when finished:

Taylormade Stealth Plus// HZRDUS RDS Black
Callaway X2Hot 5 Deep // Aldila Tour Green

Taylormade Stealth 7 Wood // Diamana D Limited

Taylormade P790 UDI // Tensei Pro White
Cobra F7 Hybrid 23.5// Diamana D+
Mizuno JPX 900 Forged 5-GW // Project X
Taylormade Mill Grind 52 // DG S400
Taylormade Mill Grind 58 // DG S400
Odyssey White Hot OG 7

Still need to get the new shaft in my 3 wood. Been slacking

Got it in and love the NVS shaft, but now I have a rattle in the head...

I had the same happen to me. Heres your solution

1. Fill a small pot or skillet with a 1/2" or so of water. Just enough to cover the sole of the club

2. Bring it to a boil

3. Put the club sole in the water and hold it there for 30 seconds or so

4. Go slam the club sole down on your bed pillows or couch cushion.

This should trap the loose epoxy particle in the now softened hot melt.

Enjoy!

Could a kind fellow v steel owner please help me out, I am just wondering what sort of vertical roll the face on a three wood (15 deg) should have.

I bought mine from ebay and a straight edge doesnt roll smoothly on the face at some points from sole to the crown - it seems to have a flat area. It doesnt seem to be concave yet but I was just thinking that it might be on its way out? I'm hoping not as it feels gorgeous!

I finally found a 4 wood this past weekend for $15. It is beat up, but it is going to get the sand blasted treatment like my 3 and 5 wood.

Popping in the Blueboard 103 in it and it is going to be my gamer.

I'm pretty sure I remember measuring the V-steels with a 12" bulge and roll radius

Bought an 7 wood, loved it, bought a 5 wood, ok, found a 3 wood for $12, so added it to the family. Well as with many golf club relationships, the honeymoon is over. Maybe they'll all go on the BST this fall and the search for fairway woods will start all over.

Trick didn't work to get the rattle out, and upon further testing, it baloons like crazy with that shaft for me. :(

Any tricks to get whatever is rattling when I pull the shaft to put something else in it?

Is there any V-steels that have an open face

There are heads with a paint break hosel that could be bent. You might find one that sits open. Mine is very square.

The standard model (no paint break hosel) have a .350 diameter that fit the .335 adaptor shims that Golfworks sells. They allow up to 2* of adustment for face or lie angle

Old thread, but are v steels still relevant? I have one with a steel shaft that is too weak for my swing. Club has always felt awesome so I'm thinking about putting a new shaft in it. Waste of time and money or money in the bank?

I'd say worth a try, depending on how much money you have to spend chasing the right shaft.

My V-steel 7w was shafted with a steel shaft originally, which was ok, but a bit soft. I changed it for a AD-DJ 8X which worked pretty well but the ball flight was lower than I wanted for a 7w. I swapped that for a Quadra Fire RB (in sig now), and that is a big improvement. I think I spent the equivalent of about $150 chasing the right shaft, bearing in mind that I got the AD-DJ for a good price, and sold it for a reasonable sum as well. The Quadra was also a secondhand pickup, and a real bargain, IMHO.
