darpar,

what head materials are you working with? Are the weights, visible in the back of the putter, adjustable?

Unique design, especially like the rebar neck.

Thanks!

The body is a high impact resin, and yes the weights are adjustable.

I can make the head weight anywhere from about 280grms to over 450grms.....most are in the 330-360 range.

Is the sound and feel comparable to any metals and/or alloys on the market?

Never thought about that, but I guess it sounds like a couple bowling balls lightly hitting each other.

Feel is pretty solid as the shape (wider weight in the back) gives a larger MOI area on mis-hits.

First post here on the forum. Figured I'd start with my favorite club. I've been obsessed with putters since my high school golf days (I'm 34 now). Crenshaw has always been my favorite player and many of my favorite golf memories involve great streaks of putting.

Here's what's currently in the bag.

Byron Morgan

DBCM

345 grams

Since I blew out my right shoulder I can't play a golf shot longer than 50/60 yards. So, I'm practicing chipping/pitching, and better, putting. I absolutely love The Wilson 8802 (built in 1964) I bought used this summer. My distance control with the 8802 is by far the best I've ever putted, from great distance (>60 feet), and for slick downhill downgrain 8 footers. It's much much lighter than my Camerons & Odysseys, probably ~300/310 grams, versus 350+ grams of my newer stuff, and carbon - not stainless - steel.

Whatever cause, the improvement in control is wonderful. I don't remember the last time I walked off the practice green without having made a couple of 40/50 footers and a handful, or two, of 20/25 footers. When the shoulder gets better I'm going to be dangerous.

I really don't know why it works. Loft? Lie angle? Head weight? Steel? Weght distribution? Heel Shafting? Genius (Arnold Palmer) design?

Magic? I've had wonderful putters over the years from great manufacturers. It's the best I've ever used.

Magic in simplicity. It's perfectly balanced and feels just right in your hands.

It favors a classic stroke, though, so I understand people who aren't fans of the 8802. It's a very particular style of putter and pretty unforgiving. I relate it to using a Pro Staff 85 in tennis. It's a scalpel.

I wiuldn't presume to claim I have a classic stroke. For me it requires a full 'release', pointing the toe of the 8802,right at my target line/distance. When I do that with a 'relaxed' flowing stroke stroke I tend to consistently finish within a foot distance wise from 50/60 feet, better, i can control whether that's lag/die at the hole, or a bit more aggressive. With my Newport that's 3 feet, with my Golo 7, ~3/4 feet - but that could be long/short.
