New Cheap Rangefinder option - NovaOptik

I posted in another thread about trying one of these rangefinders...Found it on eBay while looking for an affordable laser rangefinder option. I paid $160 (free shipping) for mine and it is as good as any other rangefinder i've owned. It is small, easy to use and locks on the pin immediately. Really can't go wrong for the money. If you are looking for a cheap rangefinder option, give this one a go, I was very impressed...

I was definitely skeptical given there weren't many reviews but I was very happy with the performance. The big thing for me is the 7x mag and pinseeker mode. It just locks on instantly...unreal for the money.

Another plus is the user manual...Hilarious writing, some very sketchy translation going on hahahaha

Got one for Christmas (Ordered it myself, LOL). The price was amazing, it locked onto all the street signs and nearby objects, its easy to use. Small, clean looking.

I think it will be a winner.

Finally recieved it. Haven't had a chance to take it to the range or to the course yet due to other obligations. Here's what I think so far:

Comes with a carrying case, wrist strap, cleaning cloth, battery, manual, and "tips for use"

[b]Design:[/b]
Seems well made. Lightweight, and not at all flimsy as sometimes is the case with cheap chinese made knockoff products. Comparable to any Bushnell or Leupold I've ever used.

[b]Function:[/b]
Point and shoot mode, scan mode, and pinseeker mode. Reads in yards or meters. Automatic shutoff after a minute or two so no need to worry about wasting battery.

[b]Review:[/b]
As I said I haven't used it on course yet, however I did test it in a field next to the house (shooting trees and other distinct markers similar to what you would on the course.) Every reading seemed to be spot on. Walked off several of the measurements and they were perfect. Scan mode works very well. As long as your target has a decent amount of reflectivity, you will get the correct reading. Haven't had the chance to use the Pinseeker function yet, but I'm sure it will perform to expectations. Swithing between modes is seamless and easy. Very user friendly. Nothing to say about battery life yet, but the CR2 batteries it uses are relatively cheap and usually last some time. Overall, I would more than recommend this product if you're looking for a rangefinder on a budget. Seems to perform just as well as any other rangefinder on the market at a fraction of the price.

I'll update with an on course review as soon as I can but from what I've seen so far I have no doubts. Let me know if anyone is wondering about anything else and I'll do my best to help.

They are CR2 batteries. That was a typo.

I still haven't played due to bad weather where I am. However, I was able to take it to the range one day. The pinseeker function is spot on. Locks right on in a matter of seconds and gives a very accurate reading. The guy next to me had a Bushnell V2 and we compared our measured distances and they were the same. Also, the weather doesn't seem to have a negative affect on this product. I was getting readings on a very cloudy day with a decent amount of windy and I was having no problems.

So in all, I'd say this is definitely the way to go for a rangefinder on a budget. Does everything you could ask for and more. Picks up trees, bunkers, flags, and almost anything you could think of with a relative amount of reflectivity. Even on a cloudy, windy day. If you're on the fence, then take my word and go for it.

Oh man, this is really tempting. I have been wanting a range finder, but have been dreading dropping $300+ for a Bushnell. I may have to take the leap and give this one a try.

I got one off ebay, used it a couple times, its great. I already use a skycaddy, just couldn't justify $500 on another range finder, but for $160 was definately worth it.

Mine came yesterday. I used it in the yard and around the block and it seems to work really well. I will be playing with it this weekend, I can get back with more info. No complaints so far thought, seems to work great.

Where did you get if for $135.? The best I see is $144.
