From what I've read so far, some of you that have hit this club already like the performance head with the KK Silver shaft. Anyone try the tour head with the KK black(red) shaft? I would try it out for myself, but my local golf shops don't even have demo clubs in yet.

Just picked mine up.

 

1) As a past poster mentioned, the club is definitely not 45.75" long. It is very similar length to a 913 driver, and shorter than the RFE. This excites me, because at first, I thought the better performance I was getting from this club was because of the club being longer.

 

2) The red is not as red as these quick pics show. Much darker red, but a crappy cell phone camera yields, well yeah crappy pics.

 

3) It was either this or an RFE, both were great, I got slightly lower spin with the Covert Tour. And I'm a unabashed Nike fan, so my decision was easy. Both drivers were both clearly longer than my past 913d2 fuji 6.2 setup. The reason why I am longer with the Covert is because since the head is so low spin, I can go to a high loft setting, and use a livelier shaft for a smoother kick through the ball, whereas with my 913 setup, I had it at 7.75 degrees of loft and a vc6.2 TS shaft to keep spin down.

The Covert Tour looks Bad A$$ and performs Bad A$$. The most control I've ever had with a driver as far as moving the ball the way I want. Actually pretty forgiving on mis-hits as well

For me its the Covert Performance or the RFE. The Tour head was way too low spin for me and I actually liked the look of the Performance head over the Tour.

But like everyone else already said, there is so many good options out there this year

Agreed. When I saw the Nike up close, it really stood out in a good way. Definitely the best looking club to me in 2013. The RFX was nice too, didnt see the XHP, and the R1 in terms of looks was at the bottom. But again, in the end, its all about whats best.

This is only part of the story too, LOL. I have flipped a lot of clubs this offseason, and bags too... I have a 913D3 that I am not even sure it's going to get a chance at a spot in the bag this year. And dare I mention, 2 XHP's on the way??? Of course, I had to determine which loft was best. :face palm:

I know what you mean man. I have a RFE, Covert Tour and R1 on the way. Along with Stage2 fwys, hybrids, RocketBladez tour irons. I am currently switching between VR Pro blades and Cally X Razr MBs so once everything gets here my head will be spinning. It's all in good fun, people think I'm nuts and they are probably right to a certain degree..

Guys i have to say i didn't want to like the RFE. I've never really been a fan of Callaways clubs. and Honestly i dont like the look of the RFE. Green Comon???

But... it just blew my I20 away

I20 - 10 shots

spin variance was 900 rpms top to bottom 1700-2600
ball speed differed by 5 rpm top to bottom 152-157
dispersion the screen was a 35 yd cirlce


RFE - 10 shots
Spin variance 400 rpm 2400-2800
ball speed up 3 mph average and varied only 156-160
last but not least i put these in an 11 yd circle just 8 yds offline...


How does the RFE compare to the Covert forgiveness wise and ballspeed wise for those of you that have tried it.

Finally hit both covert heads with stock offerings. should of bought the performance one because I was hitting it 280-29^!!!! on fore site monitor at golfsmith Although I can hit 280 relatively easy with my current setup. These shots were pretty bad. LOL
I now know what they mean about inflated launch monitors. I really like the tour head, and I am hoping my club fitter can offset the low spin nature with a shaft to make it optimal for me.

But both heads felt nice though.

Funny, but I have those same two sets... VR Pro's and Razr MB's. Small world for us nuts! LOL I have successfully avoided the new TM products this year. I swear I won't even try them because my head is spinning now as it is. I have a full gear of new Titleist's that may not make it into action this year for me as it looks to be a Cally/Nike year. Can't wait for those new Nike wedges to come out!!!
