it is "pretty" set for 14 clubs. there may be some small changes down the road... will i test other equipment - hell yeah - not changing this tiger's stripes! however, i feel this is a SOLID bag and i would benefit from some equipment stability.

How do you like the 7.2 TS in your 3 wood? I have the 6.2 in the driver and its a beast and was thinking of going 7.2 TS but wasn't sure if it would be too LOW in a 913fd 13.5 lol

i LOVE the 7.2TS in the three wood. i have mentioned this before, but when i first evaluated the .2TS line i came across a couple of things that have stuck with me. for me... the 6.2TS was the best profile in the driver as it produced numbers that i typically see in a mid 70g shaft. it also had the tightest kick between the 7/8.2TS (again for me). i actually gamed the 8.2TS in a driver last year and hit it higher than the 6.2TS with slightly more spin. this is not uncommon in shafts. some heavier models are designed more for a FW application. although in the same line the profile may be different between weight classes. i don't know where the 7.2TS fits into the mix - but i found it to have the perfect kick in a three wood. does it flight too high? no. does it flight too low? no. even playing a 13.5 as you have mentioned i would strongly consider it as i feel the profile still allows for height, just not overly high or ballooning.

Where does the covert tour fit into this, I remember you had some good words about it a while back. Also, how big was the difference in ball speed and spin between the v2 and retail R1? Any thoughts about the anser driver?

i'm not sure where the covert tour fits in right now. more than likely i will test it head to head with the v2 and find out what works best. this will be an interesting go around because i have owned enough drivers over the years to know what a honeymoon period is like. not my first rodeo. however the honeymoon for me has always been performance based / on course success. the v2 feels and sounds perfect - this will never wear off.

retail and v2 flight COMPLETELY different. the retail for me launched very high - climbed quickly - then flattened out immediately. the v2 launches way lower and doesn't apex as high - yet the carry is on par to the retail on the course. the AoD is drastically different. if i play a firm course the v2 is going to be ungodly long.

on average i would say that the spin is relatively the same (probably not enough real time experience or trackman time to give an accurate response).

the anser is very solid. probably a better comparison is to the retail r1 only straighter. for a higher spin player that wants to hit the ball straight - the anser driver should be on your short list.

Thanks a lot, that really helps. Out of curiosity, which drivers still have potential to go in the bag? Or is the V2 almost a lock at this point? I think some of the most interesting parts of these WITB's is how you guys (Pure's thread for example) eliminate options and the factors behind that.

Swan... I have a 6.3TS coming for my G25... your fault.
[/quote]

That's funny...based on his review I bought a 7.3 TS for my G25 3 wood build.

I will need to see how this shakes out when you have 10+ rounds in with some decent weather :) The V2 might be one of the longer drivers I have hit, just wanted to see how you feel after the honeymoon wears off.. hopefully it doesn't!

It's set for now - but it will be very hard to beat...

Other drivers I am going to test include - covert tour and rfe.

Interesting you mention the process of picking and eliminating equipment. Unfortunately, I have it down to a science. I have failed enough and found a streamline process that works for me. Recently a friend visited Michael Neff, who was instrumental in the MATT system and fitting. Many tour guys have worked with him getting optimized. He verified everything I have learned by mistake over the years with setting up a bag. Driver to irons - shafts - tipping - etc... He is amazing. I am hoping to set an appointment with him to just talk!

Thanks for the insight and taking the time to reply......i'm pretty sure i'm gonna go TS as I love the 6.2, now i'll just have to decide 7.2/8.2 or 7.3. Swinging the driver at 105mph has me wondering if I can handle the 7.2/8.2 TS but I said the same thing about the 6.2 and it has since been a game changer for my driver.

Between Swan and Dizz Ping is going to sell a million sets of Ansers. I have not hit the new version, hit the old version and was not impressed. You guys have me intrigued to say the least, especially your comments regarding the sole and turf interaction.

What putter are you using? If I recall correctly Ghost Spider?

I'm with ya Scratch. The first Ansers weren't anything special to me either. Especially considering how long we'd been begging for a forged iron from PING.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

i am curious too! as i mentioned before the honeymoon may not wear off because typically a club loses luster after you hit it in the woods three straight rounds. i just love how this sits, sounds and feels - similar to the ft tour in the past i could deal with a miss hit, as i loved everything else. plus i am more mature in my decision making (did i sound convincing? LOL)...

yes. a friend owed me money and instead of cash passing hands - i was thinking a new putter (GOLO/NEWPORT 2) was in store. long story short i brought my ghost spider into REDTAIL and got on SAM to establish a baseline. come to find out my stroke was very consistent - with almost no deviation. my backup putter is an odyssey 9 and even though my stroke set up best for a face balanced putter, the results and deviation with a toe hang was the same... i had choices. after looking at the data, JASON (IMAGOLFER) modified my putter lie and loft. after running the data again we decided that i could get a new putter but if i liked the GHOST SPIDER enough there was no reason to change. this putter gives me the best chance to get the ball rolling on the line that i pick. distance control has been very good - with a good roll on poa. finally, i feel that i have a better chance making the 10-20 foot putt with this in my hands. sometimes i put a better more confident roll on this length (can't do that with a toe hang putter).

@scratchswinger

forgot to respond to one important detail - that being turf interaction. up until two years ago i had played blades. i wanted a thin sole. looking at these is completely counter-intuitive to what i like. however, they don't play like they look. i can't explain it. in the NW we have conditions all over the map. most of the time the turf is soft, then it can really harden out. if you drive north to chambers bay, south to bandon, or east to central oregon the turf conditions change drastically. this is all within 2-4 hours. what club can you play in all conditions without losing too much in the other/opposite condition? my first two rounds with the ansers were at chambers. tight and firm. actually my first hit was a four iron into the 500 yard opening par 4. no issues period. they also work great in the rain and wet fairways that we are enjoying currently! i am finding that i need to forget some of the things that i thought would not work for my game as OEM's are integrating features into clubs that are target to the lower handicap/tour player clubs.

ironic that one of the best players i have seen or played with used NIKE machspeed irons with A flex graphite shafts. a strong dude that played within himself and used "inferior" equipment to a smooth 67.
