Mizuno MP-32

Recommended Posts

I also play the MP-32s. I have played both blades and cavity back irons, forged and cast during my playing career. When I played well, I played with forged blades. When my game was terrible, it was with cast cavity backs. I will play the 32s until the grooves wear off and that should take some time to do.

I only play around 10 times a year now but play between a 6 to 9 handicap. My putting has more to do with this than my iron game.

Alright after two days of practicing, the verdict is in.

MP-32's are just plain AWESOME.

Ball flight is slightly lower than my old G5's.

(The G5's had CS LITE STIFF)

But the feel is incredible. Expected but still, the feedback and playability are a great big plus.

I was told that the G5's were Game Improvement irons.

To me, these MP-32s will improve my game more than the G5's ever did, or will.

These are already making me focus more and strike the ball better than ever before.

Props to Mizuno for making a great set of irons.

Looks, Feel, Playability... Did i mention looks?

I'll report back after my first actual round with them.

32s or 60s?

Hi all. I'm new to WRX, awesome site though!

I'm in the Air Force, currently deployed right now actually, so I've been kind of out of all the scuttlebutt as far as new equipment goes. I've always loved Mizuno irons. I've been playing the same set of Mizuno Pros for about 6 years now. I'm a 5 handicap (which isnt too bad I guess since I only get to play about once a month) and I'm curious as to what all the other low handicappers or even high handicappers are saying. I like a nice boring trajectory, and I really have no problem getting a higher trajectory when I need it. I'd appreciate any feedback you guys can give me on the difference between the 32s and 60s. What's the general thought on which one is better? Workability and such. Thanks!

after lending out mp-32 and mp-60 to test at the range, i ended up with mp-32 cos

(1) according to technical data, mp-60 is only 4% larger and 10% larger sweet spot, the difference is about the size of a dimple on a golf ball, but the 32s looks much more superior

(2) my stats at the range on both irons are pretty much the same in terms of hitting the ball straight and consistency of each iron, the 32s were slightly better

(3) can feel the point that club face strikes the ball better on the 32s, so i feel that i can control ball flight better

pt #1 is the only distinctive advantage, #2 & #3 are very personal preferences. so i suggest you try them both and see which one feels better and statistically give you better performance.

I bought the MP-32's over a month ago now and have gotten used to them quite quickly. Here are some things I noticed.

1: You have to swing through with these clubs. They aren't going to perform if you quit on the shot. You MUST stay down and take a divot with 7 iron down for the crispest of strikes.

2: They impart a lot of spin. You had better get used to backspin on the short irons because they put some serious action on the ball. It's beautiful when the ball lands beside the flag, jumps forward and then kicks back for a gimme birdie.

3: Because of the spin, you actually don't have to shape the ball as much as you would think. With all of the clubs, you can fire away and feel confident that the ball will stick. However, when you need o shape it around a tree or whatnot, it's inherently easier than you would think.

4: The PW is quite rounded and big compared to the other clubs. Not anything of a Callaway shovel-style but it does look a lot different to the other clubs

5:Into the wind, and up the hill, the ball doesn't goas far as you would think, even with the extra club. I believe this is because of the extra spin imparted on the ball.

6: On good strikes, the ball will go further than your other clubs of an equal loft. The clubs compress the ball better on pure strikes than other clubs and it is amazing how far it can fly.

7: You would want to have a pretty darn repeatable iron swing to be able to utilize these clubs properly. If you aren't hitting more than 9 or 10 GIR a round then look for something else. These clubs reward you for what you put into them. A poor swing is a poor shot, no more than it deserves.

Finally, I do adore these clubs, and have no doubt that they will shave strokes off my game now that I'm used to them.

the best irons i have ever, ever hit. id go so far as saying that the long irons are so well balanced that they are more forgiving than some cavity back clubs out there. mizuno seems to consistently make the prettiest and best blades on the market, and they cater well for the left handed market!

woo hoo! :drinks:

well i've had mine for a year or a little more....I started looking for blades when i got to a 10....told myself when i got to single digits i would buy blades.....had my eyes on the ta1's but since cleveland had long since stopped them i started demoing cg1's...was almost sold on them and played a round with a club pro from ohio...he had the 33's and was trying to sell them...said he wanted the 32's....

....so a few days or a week or so later i go into an edwin watts and ask about them.....the launch monitor is full and there are lines....they had a net area where they do the impact and lie tests....so i just hit the demo 6 a couple times....didn't really have the money for them since they were 850 or so at the time....

anyway the guy says why don't you leave your id here and take a set...go play a few courses this weekend and then decide...... ;) .....so i'm like i dont think I'm gonna make it out this weekend i'll just come back when the monitors are open...he hands me the demo 6 iron and says take this incase you swing by a range....

i end up going out to a course and the 10th hole happend to be exactly 360....so i think to myself...hey i can hit it twice here...so i hit this beautiful shot from the tee, (my current set was offset improvers) this ball wasn't hooking 25 yards....NICE.... so i have 180 to the pin, its on a back shelf, what the hell just see how it feels right....PUREST FEELING I HAVE EVER FELT IN MY LIFE....it ends up spinning back about 6 inches or so to leave an 8 footer for bird.....a 6 iron coming back....my improvers dont do that.....

so thats the story of how the mp-32's got stuck in my bag....and where they are going to say....

I was in the market for new irons, and i demoed everything twice. IMO, the 32s are the best irons on the market today. I got them standard length, lie, and loft with true temper dynamic gold s300 shafts and i wouldnt change a thing because they are perfect. They impart a ridiculous amount of spin on the ball which gives the ball flight a nice little rise and checks nicely on the green. They look awesome at address and there is no better feeling than a flush hit with these babies. I also have no problem hitting the long irons, 3 and 4, and contrary to some opinions i have heard, i like the look of the pw. These are the most accurate irons and imo the best looking and feeling, i would encourage any to demo these and keep in mind i like mine even more now that i own them and have used them out on the course.

I have had mine for 3 months now and took them to Mexico a few weeks ago. WOW, plain and simple they are pure butter. I never knew an iron could be workable yet forgiving. I am at a loss of words for these babies. I will say though, if your over an 8 handicap I think you should move to the MP 60's. If your better then an 8... PLAY THESE. 5 stars for sure

Whatever. It's comments like "if your over an 8 handicap I think you should move to the MP 60's" that keep the average player from trying a nice set of irons like the 32's. I'm a 12 and I hit the crap out of my 32's. I've played mine for 2-months now and I haven't shot over a 85.

The 60's are just as nice, but they're definately not for a higher handicapper. If you can hit the 60's you can surely hit the 32's.

true enough but if you hit more GIR's your scores would probably be better... i'm in the same boat as you up around the mid to low 80's right now, but only hitting 5-8 GIR's...

i love my 32's when my swing is grooved for the day, but if i'm off my game, the 32's are a nightmare...

My advice, if you can afford it - get a set of R7 Tp's for the not so good days and rainy days :smilie_ping:

They are pretty forgiving, look slim and not bulky and they are durable.

Play the Mp-32 when you're in form. Have the extra set in your car - if you can feel the swing is OFF on the range before the round. Then you can change to the more forgiving set when going towards the first tee box and feel a bit more confident - it works for me :)

The R7 Tp's are not super forgiving, but compared to the Mp-32, they are :cheesy:

Great clubs, they truly are amazing sticks...

They feel so pure and playable yet easy to hit. Every time I hit the sweet spot on them it feels so smooth. Those of you that think these are only for super low handicappers should at the very least give them a try. I have a 12 handicap and moved from playing Ping G2 irons with the same rifles I got for these Mizunos. They are an uber improvement over my last set, they check everytime I hit the green. I really love my set of MP32's and I don't see myself getting any other clubs.

5 stars from me for these bad boys! :beach:

Picked up a set of 32's about a month ago. I demo'd them a number of times prior due to concerns about my ability to play a blade (or blade like) club. Finally pulled the trigger. I could not be happier. Love them. My handicap has lowered 4 pts in the last month (14 to 10)-- not all atributed to the 32's but they have helped. My iron play is probably a little lower than my handicap. Better driving and putting would shave a few off.

When I am swinging well, I am hitting distances on greens so much better than I ever have. They hold greens very well, spinning back with many short iron shots. I came back from a 3 yr. layoff due to wrist injury last year and started back with a set of TM CGB's. Good club to start with but quickly outgrew them. They were long and very high. I thought that I would loose quite a bit of distance going to the 32's but it has been negligible at most. When I am playing into the wind, there is no comparision. The Mizuno's flight is excellent and much easier to control.

Likes - Just about everything - look, feel (!), flight and ability to contol are outstanding.

Dislikes - Only the fact that my swing does not always control the long irons as well as I would like. When I hit them well, they are amaziing. When I don't, they let you know more than my cavitiy backs but I am at a point that I enjoy the feedback (on most days anyway:)

Great club... would recommend to anyone with at least a decent swing.

Mizuno's are the best. I learned on wilson staff and the learning curve was very big for me. I then played with Ping Zing's, but never really knew when I hit it solid. After 7 years with the Zing's I purchased a split set of MP32's and MP60's and man what a difference. My game has never been better. Go Mizuno!

Currently I'm an 18 handicap and have been playing golf a little over a year and a half now. More of an experiment than anything I recently started playing with MP32's. (for the record I've got 6-pw on the MP32's) Prior to the 32's I was playing with the MX23's. I love these 32's and they have since replaced my 23's as a permanent (for now) fixture in my bag. For me the 32's are so easy to hit. As stated before I'm an 18 handicap but my iron play and ball striking is decent. For me the 32's are very accurate, they make working the ball a piece of cake, and they sit VERY softly when hitting into the greens. Mishits are not a show stopper. The mishits I've experienced are no worse than mishits with my 23's. These are very nice clubs if you're in the market. Here's a thread about my 2-3 week experiment with the 32's.

Played MX 25 for one year - nice but bulky. Switched to MP 32 and all I can say is "wow". I bought into the hype of a game improvement iron and should have gone with the 32 a year ago. Very smooth iron.
