Mclovin was a great thread, and there was a putter refinish thread that turned out to be hilarious, the op kept dragging his feet on some crazy idea for a refinish job and someone else took over

I haven't been around here as long as most of you, but I did lurk for a couple of years before registering...

Some of my favorites include:

-Jack Pearsall doing Johnny Cash and "walking the line"

-is Jesusrocks back--a fradulent seller comes back with a differend user name. Several users figure this out by using clues from his pictures and jump on the guy like hungry wolves on a wounded deer.

-pantaloons thread from the Hogan forum. I don't even know how to describe what took place in that thread (unfortunately it was locked 3 pages in). I think I've read the entire thread 4 or 5 times.

My favs- title was like ap2's for $399 or something like that but a bunch of wrxers posted live chats from the people working for the company (hilarious)

The Pantaloons thread was a twisted classic thread.

I like teh look-alike thread, comparing famous people to golfers. Pretty funny.

The LSUTiger thread with him asking for donations because his family was devastated by hurricanes, then he created a WTB ad for new 712 AP2's within 24 hours of that thread, and he denied ever asking for donations.

Easily my favorite, i mean [i]easily, [/i]was the thread where the guy accused Scratch of lying about the metals they used in their wedges. Then provided tests that were supposed to show the metal wasn't 8620 or 1018 or whichever it was. Anyway Ari came on to defend himself and say they were hogwash....but the best part of the tread was when the 2 sides couldn't agree about whether a japanese guy that worked in one of the factories was alive or dead. It was unreal

They were like (paraphrasing) "Tanaka-san foundry is the one they claim was used, but he is dead and everyone knows this" to "No, Tanaka-san is alive and we use him". I made up the name Tanaka but it was something like that. Will try to find the thread though it may have been deleted

I would have to say the recent "flipping items on bst" thread was a great read where the guy was ticked that he sold low and the buyer posted the clubs on eBay at a higher price.

And he was claiming he was trying to protect us members. Until another member caught him buying low on eBay and selling high on the bst.

Now that was classic. The guy ended up shutting down his WRX account.

as far as favorite "good" threads. The lookalike thread was awesome. The original club ho challenge thread (i think started by Pure745) 4-5 years ago was great fun aswell and still is replicated every year. I'm also pretty proud of my "judging players by their bags" thread that blended some FBI profiling into our club selections. The Adams 9015 thread started by Dlefty can never be replicated i'm convinced. That club was the definition of "cult classic". There will never be a club from a mid-tier OEM that gets that revered here again...just can't happen. I suppose the original L4V thread deserves that status too....Sean2's "are golf courses too challenging" thread/article got a TON of discussion

more "bad" threads: The original Tiger crash thread. I think there was like 50 pages when i got home from work. All in one day!.....What was that other BST related thread where the guy had taken money but not shipped any clubs? And then he said he went through some personal hardships but wouldn't expand on that? That one got crazy too....

Wow, I never go into the Hogan forum, but that one was classic. I lost track of what the original point was to be made there.

The Golt to Impress vendetta on Scratch was good too.

My personal favourite was when the guy showed up trying to sell counterfeit Viagra with such everyday suggestions as "use it to boost your workout performance!" because Viagra and gym shorts in public are such a great mix. I full on harassed that guy for about 32 minutes before it got locked, deleted, and I got told to behave myself.

I'll cheat a little and go off the board, but I can't help it. There was a thread on a different golf forum years ago that I'll never forget. I hope someone remembers it although it wasn't here on WRX.

The thread was a guy selling a $100 gift card to a golf store for $100 cash plus shipping. A few people tried to help him understand that he probably wasn't going to get many people to spend ~$105 for a $100 card. His responses were what made it so funny. He just couldnt get it. I wish I could remember his replies. He said something like...."well if someone is going to that store anyway, they can just buy this gift card and use it and I can get cash for it."

Someone would mention that if he lowered his price it might sell. Maybe sell the $100 card for $80? He then said something like "I don't want to lose money." "The card is worth $100." "I'll hold out for the full price"

I was in disbelief.

Couple others that were pretty good:

1) the Robo cooks his Ping driver head, Nawlins style (where he heats the sh1t out of a Ping driver head on his BBQ grill, to burn off the hot melt inside)

2) the Scotty Cameron frankenputter thread. Some poor guy on ebay attempted to make his own center shafted plumbers neck, by cutting a neck off a standard NP or NP2 head, and welding it onto the middle of the topline, covering up the middle cherry dot. I think he tried to pass it off as a one of a kind with a ridiculous price tag. That putter needed to be dragged out back and shot.

AHHH the Cameron Mini thread...I forgot about that one. I have actually read that once or twice (most of it anyways).

About 3 or 4 years ago I think there was a thread titled something like "Cameron Empire will fall" and it was some sort of tirade against Cameron. If anyone can find that link please post. I have tried in the past and cannot find it.

Now that I think about it some of the Cameron threads are pure gold.

It was called "the fall of the Cameron empire". Pretty sure jick started that thread, but I can't find it either. As I recall, he had a link to it in his sig file for a long time.

Whatever happened to the guy with all of the fake "Demascus" putters and the one he sent to Deerslayer and then came on here and attacked Deerslayer for not returning it and got KILLEDBY to come to Deerslayers defense and offer the guy a new putter (which he promptly accepted).

We all had a good discussion on the right way to go about dealing with a fake and went back and forth calling Deerslayer a thief no matter if it was fake or not that it wasn't his call to make but that the guy with the fake putter should be skinned alive and put through a woodchipper.

I never saw the final resolution of that thread but it was a good read.

BP's thread was just a trainwreck and I regret that I ever commented in it. There was no winner there, just a really sad situation all around. I do believe everyone was eventually made whole or somewhat reimbursed.

MTLjeffs G15 iron thread is a great read.

Golfjunki's WITB is hot mess that is growing by the minute it seems.

I'll throw my V-Steel band of brothers thread out there as one of my favorites. FWs are a tough club to find and once you get one stick with it. the V-Steel is the holy grail of fairway woods.

Since you bring up Deerslayer - I really like Stratton's WITB thread. That is solid.

A good one from the Hogan perspective was the "Hogan Secret" Thread - I think that is why we all got grounded in the Hogan room to begin with. The original Stack and Tilt thread is pretty classic also. Great information in both of those threads for swing enthusiasts.

I can't believe I missed ROBO grilling a Ping head. I have to find that one.
