FOOTBALL IS HERE !!!! ... TIME TO GET IT ON

Thought this was a good pic....

Held Boldin out of the gate, then interfered with him down field.....got up lobbying for a OPI call. Boldin made a sweet one handed catch even with all that. I think Sherman is a great player, but this is what happens when you yap soo much.....big fat target on your back each week.

I think we can all agree that Sherman just isn't a very smart guy. Fantastic CB? Absolutely. Smart guy? Not so much.

As for the whole conversation about Seattle's secondary forcing the refs to make calls, that's what all secondaries should do. You take what the refs will give you and you continue to do that until you find out just how much they'll give/tolerate before making the call. When I was on the mound in HS and the umpire was giving me 3-4" off the corners, I took them. If he wasn't, I adjusted. That's how you have to approach all situations in sports IMO.

I think SF/Seattle is pretty much a toss up on most days and it's usually going to go to the home team. If they played 10 times on a neutral field, I like both teams to win 5 games. This has to be the best rivalry in football right now IMO. Gore ended up being the difference today from what little I saw.

Sherman is actually a very intelligent person, seeing he graduated from Stanford with a Communication degree I believe. He is also pretty well versed and spoken. Just a bit on the arrogant/cocky side....by bit, I mean alot.

Agreed, but it just doesnt work that way. Certain players/coaches emphasize this and embrace it, like Carroll and his guys. Its easy to say to do it, but to go do it is a completely different thing. Or else every secondary or college bball team would be Seattle and VCU.

Speaking of inability to take a loss.....enter Richard Sherman lol.

"We didn't project it to be this way," said Richard Sherman, a Stanford product who played for 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh. "We expected to blow them out, but they got the benefit of a few calls throughout the game and that helps you especially on third down. We will see them again, and it'll be a different result."

LOL at Sherman bringing up officiating. Dude is a great corner, but forces the refs to call everything and he gets away with muggings every down. I thought the officiating was mediocre on both sides and missed calls on both sides.

He also was surprised it was not a "glorified practice" like he told his team mates it would be lol. Man that dude is a great football player, but a horrible person lol.
Pretty much in Seattle he is 2nd favorite person. Behind Russel (In Russ we trust). I wouldn't say he's a terrible person, I think that is just who he is as a person. He doesn't force the refs to call anything, but he does attempt to persuade them. He trash talks as much as anyone, but its to get in the guys head, not just to be a jerk.

And he's confident lol.
Lol...well hes quite the tool and sounds like quite the dbag each time he opens his mouth.

I also disagree 100% with your assesment of your own team. The Seattle secondary puts the game in the hands of the refs. They are as physical as the refs let them be....and seeing the refs are not going to call PI every single down, they get away with alot. Much like VCU and their "havoc" style of defense in college bball....make the refs whistle you and dare them to slow the game down. 9 times out of 10 they wont. You probably missed that while climbing aboard the bandwagon this year though, so no worries lol. Seems to be the popular thing these days.
Ugh, why do people bring up bandwagon when they talk about the Seahawks, why do you have a problem with people liking a team. Also how can you judge Sherman for how he acts on the field, that's a completley different environment from the real world.

Maybe Sherman is smart. I can't tell it from his comments though.

No one is going into SF and blowing them out when they're as healthy as they've been all season. Come on man.

11-2 is still better than 9-4 no matter what anyone says. Who cares if Sherman is a "poor loser" because Kaepernick isn't much better. In the end all that matters is the record.
If you are going for the regular season championship sure....11-2 is better than 9-4. Come playoff time, everybody is 0-0, then well see whatsup, and in the end....all that matters is the last standing. Not record.

By your own logic it would be better to have a recent past of 11-2 rather than 9-4 once in the playoffs. You're not going to try and discredit a team like that, right? Not to mention that at the beggining of the year, everyone was 0-0.

Both Kaepernick and Wilson need to be careful, they are way to aggressive when they run it themselves and that = a short career. They need to stay in the pocket more. Even when Vick was young he was never that aggressive.

Regular season means nothing once playoffs come (thats my "logic"). Everybody gets their seed based off of the regular season performance, but then each game is win or go home.....Running through the regular season doesnt give you anything. Ask the Falcons, Patriots, Broncos etc.

Has nothing to do with discrediting, but once the playoffs are set having a great regular season really doesnt mean much. That was my logic, since it appears you didnt understand it.
To me, the regular season is qualification to the post season. That's it. :) You have to make it to the post season to considered a good team. Seattle earned that.

Now, of the 13 games so far for Sea, 6 of those games were against teams with winning records, and 2 of those were losses (SF and Indy). So, less than 1/2 of the games (wins) were against teams with losing records. That really speaks volumes to me, and not to the strength of the team. They're going to have a hard time in the post season and I'd be surprised if they make it past the 1st round. They haven't really played to a hard schedule. NYG next week might be a joke (out of the playoffs), but they've been on a winning streak. They've lost 2 of their last 7. Could be interesting.

Then there's the rematch with Ari fighting for a wildcard spot. If they bring it to Sea and then surprise SF, they're in.

I think Sea (or Sea fans) are going to be really disappointed after their bye week in the playoffs when they play a team that has a very good winning record in a hard season. ;)

Did you see that hit that Bowman put in Wilson? Holy smokes...

It's going to be fun to watch the Niners go into Seattle break the entire cities heart.

Agreed. Wilson runs around to buy time and scrambles every so often and lap has stayed in the pocket all year...that was the most I've seen him run all year. When they both do leave and run, they are really good about sliding.

I really have no idea what you are trying to point out. Not sure it made any sense.

Does regular season really mean nothing though? Does home field advantage really not make a difference in the playoffs? Does having a first round bye in the playoffs really not make a difference in you chances of going to the Super Bowl?

Being a number 1 seed certainly does not hurt. But in recent history it has not helped either. Seattle is different because of the huge advantage that they have at home. So in the case of the Seahawks, it really is vital that they wrap this up and get home field. Personally I believe the only NFC team that can go on the road and win is Seattle is the Niners. But they need to do a lot of things better if that were the case.

Super Bowl Winners Vs seed :

2013 2 seed
2011 4 seed
2010 6 seed
2009 1 seed
2008 2 seed
2007 5 seed
2006 3 seed
2005 6 seed
2004 2 seed
Get the point?

That's a great post.

The only thing I would disagree with is SF winning in Seattle. I don't think SF can't beat Seattle in Seattle. The last 2 times they've been to Seattle they've been handled rather easily (42-13, 29-3).

I like someone like NO or Carolina to have a better chance of beating Seattle in Seattle.

Nobody is saying havenng superbowls make you better than anybody now...hell look at the awful redskins. My point was, I never understood the point in a fanbase supporting a team with no championships discrediting a team that has 5....for any reason.

As for homefield and byes, those can help but again...look at the amount of teams that played from the first week and won. It truly is just a crapshoot..
