I'm glad the lofts on the Pros are a bit better than I was expecting. I heard they were going to be the same as the XHP irons of now, having a 45* PW and a 21* 4 iron. That's a low 4 iron!!!

These seem to be more inline with what a Player's iron should be.

They are solid irons, I hit them a few weeks ago. I wouldn't think twice about gaming a set.
[/quote]Agreed. I love the 2013 x forged, but I thought these were even better, plus a gap wedge! Also, I know some are getting jiggy about the weight of the KBS V Tour. Although lighter, I really didn't feel a huge difference from the standard KBS Tour 120. They will be in my bag when the snow goes away.....

Should anyone want to see a comparison of the lofts for the two sets of irons, I posted them here:

Can anyone compare these to 2013 X-Forged, 714 AP2, or Mizuno MP-54- as far as forgiveness, feel, workability, ball flight, etc.? These seem to all be competitive offerings, all of which I am extremely interested in for the upcoming season.

So, according to your table, the Apex 3 iron is closer to the Apex Pro 2 iron than 3 iron? I could definitely be interested in a combo set, will they be offered as such from Callaway? Looks like 3-5 Apex, 6-pw Apex pro would flow well with the loft progression.

I think starting at the 6 would be good, but you'd go from a 24* 5 iron to a 29* 6 iron. I don't know if that's a typical split in that area or not. If you split at the 7 (which is what I would more than likely do) you'd go from a 27* 6 iron to a 33* 7 iron which is 6* difference instead.

One thing I'll do for sure is order an Apex 3 iron and bend it a degree strong to replace the DHy I have now. Considering I won't have to pay any upcharge to get my C-Taper S+ in there, I'm hoping it'll slide right in with the rest of my XHP I have now.

EDIT: To your question if they'll be offered that way from Callaway, I have a 99% certain response of 'no'. But that doesn't mean you can't custom order them that way. Considering they're not doing any upcharges on shafts they stock, I have a feeling the GREAT majority of people here will be doing a custom order job (as if they wouldn't already) so it wouldn't be much different. You'll just have to be a bit more explicit.

Yeah, the loft gapping was somewhat of a concern to me, as well as difference in feel between the irons with tungsten inserts and non. I personally would prefer just the 3 & 4 in the Apex, but I'll have to wait and see. I'm sure there would have to be some slight loft tweeking, but a 5* gap seemed more reasonable than a 6* difference at that spot in the bag. The nice thing is they are forged, so custom bending should be no problemo!

As to my first post- does anyone have any experience with these (or opinions) vs. 2013 X-Forged, 714 AP2, and MP-54?

Beautiful clubs. I just watched the video with Harry interviewing Alan Hocknell about these irons. I must say I think Harry has become my new favorite person in golf. You can tell he loves his job.

Harry is a funny dude. The entire Callaway crew are world class. I've been saying to myself ever since i saw the Apex that i was going to go to them instead of the Pro this time, since I could use a little forgiveness. Now, after watching the Callaway Talks, I am torn! The way they talked about these really piqued my interest. But at the same time, the amount of good things Dscvrr says about the standard Apex (and i know he has a good eye for equipment), are prompting me to think i will go with them. Also helps that they come out first! Maybe both!? You'll probably see me on a street corner in Florida, carrying my golf bag and a sign that says "Will work for Greens Fees". 110% Callaway... very impressive!

Figure I go with Apex 4-GW Ctaper X SS 1x and go from there. If the intrigue bug bites me, I will order the Apex Pro in 8-PW!!

Im thinking 4-PW but not sure what shaft yet. I am crossing my fingers that Callaway will be at a demo day that I am going to on Friday, the flyer says they aren't but when I worked for them we always did this demo day so I am remaining hopeful. Right now I am playing KBS Tour X's and I really like the feel/flight, so i may try the Tour V and C-Taper. I have the C-Taper X in a couple of wedges i bought last year but man... they are rugged. I bought two wedges and ended up hitting about 20 balls each with them before taking them out and putting my X Forged wedges back in the bag. I am just excited as all can be to hit the Apex. Now if this week would just fly by....

Those are great looking irons. I'm gonna see if the regular version can beat out the CB2's I currently play . I think it's a good thing to bring back the Apex name. Cally bought Hogan and it is a tribute to a great line of clubs to put the Apex name back on the market.

I live in Florida so wind is almost always an issue... I have wanted to try the C-Tapers, but ever since i tried those wedges, I was thrown off a bit. But i figure if I go to the Apex (assuming a bit higher launch), then i might need to flight it down a bit.

As an XHP 4-PW and XF'13 6-PW owner, these should be right up my centre of the green alley, but I'm pretty meh about them.

I'm sure they'll be fine, just like all the other modern clubs, but I don't think they look that great actually and in non-ho fashion I'm not even that keen on having a hit. Maybe if they were coming out in Jan '15, but after only 1 year of trying out new clubs and paying attention to all the new offerings I think I've reached my personal saturation point.
