Looking at possibly picking one up. My ideal loft is 9*. Initially I thought a 10* turned to 9* might be the ticket but my question is has anyone hit the 8.5* and if so how did it launch? I have no desire to up the loft from 8.5* as I don’t need the face closing.

Are you a high spin or low spin player? I naturally hit driver high with a lot of spin, and 8.5 in the G400 LST is the ticket for me.

I have a 10 degree set to 9...I like it that way cuz it opens the face at the same time.

I had a 10° turned to 9 and it was a hook machine for me out of the toe. Had to get rid of it. Hit some bombs with it though. Back to a 910d3 with a blueboard. Very consistent for me.

Me too the 8.5 is what I have and it surprised me because I have never played such a low lofted driver.

So am I. But ping drivers are not “super low spin” even the lst models. But they are all super forgiving. You will want to knock some loft off to get into the window you want

I am in the minority and currently play the 8.5* LST lofted up to 9.5*. This driver definitely sits more open even at the neutral setting relative to other drivers out there, similar to the Subzero models from Callaway (at least to my eye), and I find that lofting up brings it back to square (again, to my eye).

I naturally play a fade so I initially tried the 10* lofted down since I hate seeing the ball go left, but found it tough to get it squared back at impact. Whichever head you go with, I can confidently say that the LST models are the most forgiving "low spin" heads compared to that of other manufacturers.

You probably have the answers you wanted, but bear in mind that your swing is going to effect your launch conditions far more than the loft of the driver.

I am playing the 8.5*, but i hit up on the ball 3-4*

I also fight a fade (and an open face at impact), so i like the lower lofts to help me adjust the driver slightly to promote a draw. im also confident that if I adjust to 9.5* i can tee the ball high and get plenty of loft if i want to try and play i high shot for that round.

you really can go wrong with this driver head. if you have the weight balanced for your liking, you will find you can work this driver enough to get comfortable swinging it.

If you can get a positive AOA, there's nothing but high bombs with this club. And a good shaft, I don't get along with any of the Ping stock shafts, which is super awesome to get the upcharge .10 turned to 9 . Didn't even try 410 . Don't need to .   It just wants you to be in the fairway .  Miss is left naturally because of my swing.  Can't stop that with a club IMO, but can work it either direction easily actually.

Just got myself a 400 LST head and will be putting it up against my old G30 LST head to head shortly. I like to see the head sit square or open and taking the 400 LST up made it look very 'hooded' in so we'll start off with 8.5 and then take it down to 7.5 if we have to and then go from there.

The 400's do launch high for their lofts.

I'm playing the 8.5 and launching it as high or higher than any other driver I've ever owned.  I've never played anything lower than 9.5.

wow. just got a g400 lst 10* with an oban devotion 06 from a member on this site.

Amazing driver. Stupid easy to hit and is it long... wish i'd known before... now i do. TXG turned me on to it. the 445cc footprint is so perfect and looks every bit as big as my LTD PRO but 80% easier to hit. lighter and faster.

280 yard fence at the range was being..no problemo..hitting the fence in the air..scary .. i am swinging well. Will see how it performs when my steep swing comes back from shopping. Please don't come back

You think it’s that much easier to hit? I own an LTD Pro and a g400LST and find them both very easy to hit. The LST only has a slightly higher MOI. Ton are great drivers though!

I currently play the G LST 10.5*, I have the G400 LST head at 10*, I do swap them on the range, but the G LST works better for me (the difference it is minimal but still better), the only difference for me, is that I can hit better draws with the G LST, love the sound of the G400 though...plus you can probably find a G LST for very cheap now...I would demo the G, G400 and the G410 LST and make a decision, good luck

a little honeymoon excitement lol. They are about the same in ease of use. Both quite incredible. the feel of the LTD Pro is superior. I would say the LST is a tad more easier to use.
