Iron Sets to match my Age - Wilson Staff Tour Blade FG-17 etc

I came across a neat concept while perusing this forum doing some research on a set of Wilson STaff Tour Blade FG-17 irons I saw on ebay and it got me to thinking.........what were some good blade sets that would date back to my birth year of 1968 that I could look for to have an age appropriate set of irons to use from time to time? How would I be able to identify the model year of something like a Tour Blad FG-17 etc. etc.

FWIW. Not particularly enamored with the idea of ball'n irons from my birth year (1951). I'll just fib and go with the '71 Staff "Buttonbacks". If I can get away with it.

Interesting idea - like another poster, not sure I would like my birth year clubs (1952) but would be interesting to see what was the "hot" club back then.

This year I've inadvertently wandered into this. Caught the vintage/thrift bug, and I have acquired 3 sets of irons that were out around my birth year of 78. Good fun for cheap if your getting a bit...Older?

It's really not a problem. You just have to choose which ones you want.

I think the bullets were before the buttonbacks. Also, Macs had the MT Tourney TR "split soles" around that time. Not sure what the Hogans were - +1s maybe?

Lets see I have one set of my birth year ( 1957) That is a set of Diamondback Macgregors. Fella I think I have a set from around your birthday. Remember back when we done some research on those Macgregor Bob Toski Mighty Mite irons? I think we came up with 51 or 52

I play my 83 hogan decades from time to time. Probably my go to club from my same year

_Within the context of the OP_ my birth year is mostly associated with really ugly oversized cast GI clubs. I am not looking forward to losing the youth though.

1976 for me. The Macgregor’s that year are hideous, Hogan had the Producer? Ugly. Wilson looked pretty nice with the bulletback Staff or even the X/31 cavity back. Of course Ping Karsten l’s would work.

Born in 1977....got some ping karsten iii irons from the same year. Great sticks even in today's market

Gotta agree Mac had those hideous Syncro Lites---- Spalding completely ruined the Elite and Top Flite irons

For me, it's 1963. I think some of those love Wilson Staff Turfriders might be a lovely choice
