Really cool look at the renovations made over the last year including some before and afters.

Hard to tell but it looks like maybe number 12 was renovated.

I hope they made it harder because is exactly what that SOB needs to be is another shot or two harder.

I stayed at Sawgrass back in December but didnt play it...guess I'll go back.

Love the change to 12. I used to play a junior tourney there every summer in high school and they were always tinkering with the course. One year we played #4 as a 30 yard par 3 because they were renovating the landing area from the tee. Pin was tucked behind the back right bunker and the tee box was in front of the bunker. Cold blooded I tell ya!

It's a terrible course. I played it, and it was the least amount of fun I've ever had on any course anywhere. Totally tricked up. I don't need a golf course to tell me what a worthless human being I am. I've got enough other stuff to handle that job. I wouldn't play it again if was across the street and free.

 

As far as the tournament goes, I think they ruined 12. The lake between 6 and 7 is inconsequential.

I don't mind the changes to 12 strategically and shot value wise but the shaping of it is ugly as sin

I've played it three times before and after it was renovated previously. Other than a few holes I didn't care for it. Lot's of mud shots and deep rough.

I played it in April after the Masters this year and also played it last year pre renovation. Aside from #12 I didn't notice a ton of difference other than the greens were rock hard. On #5 I had a SW into the middle of the green that landed pin high and rolled off the back of the green.

I think 12 is better. The old optics off the tee sucked

 

That course has eaten my lunch a few times, one time when I thought her beat after starting 1 under thru 7 (in cold and wind)

 

I will say it seems so many holes now look eerily similar with water down the side and the bunkering. That said it is a different course

I played it right after the 2008 Players. I thought it was fun. Of course it was a scramble from the front tees. I hit a 60 degree into 18. Not really the same....

You know what? Every course is fun as a scramble. I don't know why we don't do that sort of thing more regularly. Let's face it...it's fun shooting in the 60s, even if you have to do it as a group.

The last nine on Sawgrass, with the 12 being jacked, 14 and 15 is even more accentuated as the mandatory mini-stretch of boring par fours that for some reason always have to be there down the stretch. A little like 17 and 18 on Augusta. Or the new 16 and 17 on east lake. Or 13-14, 16-17 this week. None of these holes has anything that gives them a profile of their own.
