When I mark my ball it's always heads up and the whoever is on the coin is facing the hole. Wanna make sure he's got a good look at the line.

Love this one ^^^^

I have to use a quarter to mark putts that is already in my bag (they have been there since the 80's)... and no more than one long and one short tee in my right front pocket.

I really don't have any. I am not superstitious whatsoever.

Ya I used to step on baseball lines just to mess up with teammates......lookin back I had the worst luck

I didn't do it to mess with anyone I just didn't believe it mattered. Kinda funny because in my beer league softball games now I've noticed myself jumping over it. Not even a conscious thought/superstition I just noticed I keep hopping it when I take/leave the field

Foreign coin and pitch marker repairer in left pocket

Tee's and groove cleaner in my right

glove in left back pocket

card holder (with card) in back right

Weird cause I lift my glove out with my left and then use my right hand to put it on (seems easier to place glove in right pocket)

lift ball marker and pitch mark repairer using my left hand then proceed to mark/repair with my right hand

reading this I think I need to make some changes so there is less movements :)

Superstition:"a belief or notion, not based on reason or knowledge, in or of the ominous significance of a particular thing, circumstance, occurrence, proceeding, or the like."

My "ominous significance" involves left-handed players. I can play with a lefty in my group and it is no problem, I can have a lefty in the group behind me and it is no problem, but I cannot watch a left handed player in the group in front of me! I have to turn my head, look at birds, discuss some matter with my playing partners, do anything to not watch a left-handed player swing in the group ahead.

This is a pure "...notion, not based on reason or knowledge..." it is, it exists, and it has to be dealt with in some manner.

  • 2 weeks later...

So I can't play with a ball in my pocket. I usually walk so it's not really an issue and another ball is always handy. When I'm riding and go somewhere where I might need another ball, I'll carry one with me and if I don't need it I'll toss the ball on the ground behind me so it's not in my pocket.

Other than that..

  • Marker/tees/repair tool in right pocket
  • Glove in back left pocket
  • Phone in back right pocket
  • Scorecard in front left pocket

I'm not superstitious, but I am a little stitious

I never use a full tee on clubs less than driver on a teebox. It has to be a broken tee. I think I hit poor shots with full tees on clubs less than driver. I have a couple more superstitions but they make no sense, not even to me. Haha.

Didn't think of this until I read your response, but I'm confident it's possible to live your entire life and NEVER buy tees. There are always plenty around and you only need a full tee on the driver. If I have to use a full tee on another club I feel like I shouldn't break it and ruin a perfectly good tee, and usually hit a bad shot because of it.

Weird- don't judge.

After a bad drive, break the tee. Consider it a sacrifice to the golf gods. (Yes that means I run out of tees quickly, but my local country club gives tees for free so I just stock up)

After a bogey, or god forbid, a double bogey, the ball, now deemed "bad" goes into the tiny pocket of my golf bag. Kind of considered "jail" I guess. You can tell whether I had a bad round or not by just checking that pocket.

Driver headcover comes off on first tee and stays off the rest of the round. Other headcovers come off and on with each shot including putter cover.

Isn't that when most of the damage would occur? While bumping around in the cart, bag being picked up and put down, clubs being put in and out of bag. You might be better served leaving it off while in the trunk of your car and leaving it on while playing. :)

Thank you. In the numerous 'iron covers?' threads, it it always mentioned how some will put iron covers on while the clubs are in their cars. But, that is the most peace your clubs will experience. Unless you live in a mountain cabin, your clubs experience the maximum pounding while in the back of a golf cart.

Don't you hear them clashing back there every time your totally clueless cart driving partner seems to hit every single f'ing pothole and tree root between shots?

Here goes;

1, Have to put my shoes on in the following order; left sock, left shoe, right sock, right shoe

2, In my pockets before I start; right pocket: 2 long tees, Masters ball marker, Rio Secco pitch mark repair. Left pocket, one lighter.

3, Pick up a broken tee on the 1st tee box which will stay in my pocket until I get to a par 3 when I will throw it away and find another broken tee. Repeat on all the par 3's

4, This is the most important, head cover for driver and putter must NEVER touch the floor. Ideally they 'rest' on my alignment stick whilst the club is in use.

5, I sign my card before the round starts

6, Practice putting green before a round with 3 balls. 2 must be of the brand I'm playing that day (but not the actual ball I will use on the first tee), 3rd ball has to be a random

7, Change ball after a birdie or bogey

8, Never look at playing partner if they have a short hole-out or tap in putt

The weird thing is I don't have any superstitions in any other aspect of my life, just golf.

I think this more habit than anything, but, scorecard holder goes in back right pocket, NEVER the left, carry one white ball and one yellow ball in right pocket, yellow is the provisional if needed, along with in same pocket one long tee, pitch repairer, a poker sized (but not poker chip) ball marker that says Keep Clam and Carry On, a small plastic red marker and an American quarter for a ball maker (and I'm in Australia so figure that haha). Before each shot, including putts except for tap ins I tug on the wrist band of my glove, brush my right pocket to slide the GOLF balls back and adjust my hat slightly. The glove pocket and hat thing have just become part of the routine and only take a few seconds, but if I don't have that stuff and do those things it doesn't feel right, and that's only for comp rounds, if just having a hit or a practice I don't really worry about it.

I mark my ball with a blue line, only use 4s, use the same quarter 1965 my dad's birth year. And that's about it

I will not use or tolerate yellow golf tees at all.

Yellow is a color for caution, cowardice, and being noncommittal, none of which is wanted on the golf course.

If yellow tees show up…I am out.

Isn't white the color of surrender? Then what? Must be a pain buying golf balls! No white, no yellow... lol

I have to pick any unbroken tees I see on the ground. I don't care what size or type it is. I have hundreds of tees I will probably never use. No clue why just superstition.
