did something i never thought I would

I have posted this before, but it deserves a spot in this thread.

A friend of mine was having the best round of his short golf career, probably going to break 90 for the first time if he stays away from big numbers on the last few holes. On 16 he hit his drive into a double row of trees on the right side. Instead of punching out, he tried the hero shot between the trees. He didn't keep the ball low, and when it rebounded back at him, it was trveling like a softball pitch. In frustration he swung his 7 iron like a bat, and made perfect contact with the hosel, snapping the head off clean. Embarrassing, but you've got to admit great hand and eye coordination.

I've felt tempted to do that before, but I end up seeing what I can get for the club at the local Golf Galaxy. Usually ends up being chicken scratch, but enough to get a couple gloves or a decent box of balls.

Well, i will say that i played again two days ago. I took a trip to Monterrey, CA and played Bayonet. It is a tight tree lined course. I took a demo driver in the form of an epic flash with a GD YS7 nano reload shaft in X flex and i can say that i didnt lose a single drive hard left like i was with the driver that is now in the graveyard. Maybe it is coincidence, maybe it is because the driver that died was ill suited to me. I dunno. but the truth of the matter is that the hard duck hook was gone......

Β

and i am buying a new driver.. haha.

I d@mn near quit because of massive duck hook issues. I ironed that out, thankfully.

I have gotten so well at containing my frustration it actually amazes me. And I do it best on the golf course, not necessarily anywhere else. On the course, my emotional self-control is world-class.

Β

There was only 1 time that I heaved a club. I did it out of anger, but also just to say I did it. I also did it because nothing was in the way. Except I held on to it too long and it went left, hitting a tree and snapping in half LOL

Different personalities I guess? I’d guess virtually every person who has ever acted in anger wishes they could always play relaxed and at ease.

Way better than having to duck a hooker for 15 holes.

I've broken two clubs. One was by accident, the other was on purpose. The accident was a Ping G2 3 wood with a JZ steel shaft. I hit a low top hook with it and then hit it again from its resting place only to do it again. I threw it up in the air and missed the catch. It landed on the butt of the grip and blew in half.

Β

The on purpose was again a 3 wood, an XR Pro with a DI7. Luckily I didn't pay for the DI, it was sitting in a trade-in bin at work and my manager let me switch the shaft out. The club was money before the reshaft, was horrendous after the reshaft. It felt so heavy and bad compared to the stock 76g LZ handcrafted that came in them that it lasted about 1 month before it got snapped in half by stepping on it. I didn't even feel bad about it. I just went back and got my pull out from before and all was good with the world. Until that club snapped at the hosel unexpectedly about 5 months later at the end of the season and Callaway replaced with the XR16 pro which was complete junk comparatively.

Β

Oddly, every club I've ever broken have been 3 woods, yet 3 woods are always my favourite clubs. I tend to hit them extremely well for the most part.

Three of us ,and the one gets so upset, and is getting ready to sling the club at the bag,and the other guy says "look at the bag,"and again, louder "dont throw it!! " About three feet from his bag,the club is just leaving his hands when Pepe Le Phew walked from behind it with tail raised! He got blasted !we did not get hit ,but the stench was everywhere,on our cloths and it was a mess and I think he even had to buy a new bag when he couldn't get the odor out.

oops...thought i was in another thread.

.

.

since I'm here, ill admit to slamming my 3w on the ground. Took about 4 rounds later that the shaft was cracked at the hosel, and snapped off on a tee shot. That 3w was actually one of my favorite clubs. Felt dumb for slamming it on the ground, and even dumber that i broke in play.

seen a couple of rage throws..but never a bo Jackson snapping over the knee...

I helicoptered my wedge once. then realized it'd very difficult to replace a nike club. so I don't throw them anymore. Besides, if i'm out golfing, it's a beautiful day, what else would I rather be doing? I also am not good or consistent enough to be mad!

There’s a Scotty in #1 pond that misbehaved once too many times. We finished 18, i drove down to 1 & chucked it into the center of the pond. I hope it’s still rusting away down there, freezing cold and suffering. I was very calm about it too, the putter never saw it coming.

Β

Had a buddy throw a 5 iron once on 18 that wrapped around my legs because he mistimed the release. Shaft end snapped around my left knee and club head snapped around my right ankle. Banker was not a happy boy & new words were learned by all within a few hundred yards. I bet even that old putter heard it.....
