It doesn’t tell you anything. It simply says someone is trying to present the image they think the potential employer wants to see. It reveals absolutely zero about the interviewee’s character.

I'd like to agree with you but then we'd both be wrong. I've been in commission only sales and management positions for almost 40 years now. It's very rare anyone is even remotely close to the same person they present themselves to be during any interview I've sat in on. Deadsolid is 100% correct.

Job interview is just one example. I'll let the commission only sales industry speak for itself. You see the point I'm making. If you showed up to work in an office, or a nice restaurant, like you've just rolled out of bed, it says something about you to the world about how you see yourself and others.

Why do you have to wear a suit to be dignified? I just don’t get that. I would counter that you should dress appropriate to the occasion. If I am going to Mexican food with my wife and son I would feel a fool in a suit. How old are you OP?

Secondly, the golf course is not a job interview, in fact I might say it’s the complete opposite. It’s a chance to let your guard down, relax and be who you are/want to be.

You make it sound like if you aren’t wearing pleated slacks and FJ Icons you are some scrub when in reality no one under late 50’s (in general) wears pleats anymore and I couldn’t tell you the last time I saw a pair of Icons in the course

Never said anything about having to wear a suit and tie, not sure where you get that from. You said 'dress appropriate for the occasion' and that is exactly what I'm talking about. You have hit the nail on the head.

A tank top, jeans or basketball shorts are not appropriate for the occasion of golf. Maybe for an executive course where things are a little more casual, that's fine as is mentioned in my OP and I'm happy those places exist along side a regular full 18 where the rules for a little more strict. What exactly is wrong with that?

Standards are always evolving, in work, life, golf, etc. We learn that somethings or processes we thought are needed are actually not really needed. There is an ebb and flow to find the proper balance.

My home club has 60 holes 3 18 hole courses that have all hosted USGA Championships (8 in total) so coming from someone who knows what its like it is a sweet luxury.

Yes the 3rd course is the nicest course but its on a different part of the property and you can hang your shirt out grab a beer and walk around with an eleven some if you want its the most relaxed there is no clubhouse for it like the other two at the main clubhouse its super laid back and everything. I mean its a high end 60 hole club theres no riff raff but its mega laid back and super sweet all 3 courses ranked highly its sick

Wow! just reread the OP's post after reading some of the comments and to say you are lighting some fires with those statements. Anybody and everybody plays the executive courses so describing others is not a good way to get an answer to your post but more of a reaction to your description of other golfers. I would play them but would rather play 9 holes and play a couple of balls of the tee and practice. A lot of the junior golfers use the executive course as well.
