Simple question....i mean we talk about ourselves a lot....but what kind of golfers do you play with? And what kind of golfer are you? Do you have a regular group? Do you have a bunch of joker friends who drink beer all round? Do you play in money games with guys at your club? Are your friends better then you or worse?

Talk about the games you play in....when you are out on the course

I'll start: I play at a club with a lot of low indexes. I generally play with many different people. On sundays we do a multi group skins game where pairings are fairly random, so i play with a ton of guys. Saturdays i generally play with any one of 10-15 different people depending on the week. Mostly they are really good guys, who like to play in small money games, nothing crazy

I also will play public courses with a few of my close friends. a couple of them are pure beginners, and when we go we generally drink a ton and don't keep score really. I also have another group of friends who are all in the 2-5 range. There's 3 of them and we will play a two man best ball match. It generally gets heated, we like each other but are very competitive

how bout you guys?
My guess is that you are either not married or you have a very understanding wife.
I play with a regular foursome and we occasionally get a second foursome and mix it up. Also in a league where we have ~60 guys and we pair up randomly every week. At work we have a few guys that play about once a month.
I play about 80 rounds a year in the northeast, which is a lot. I am married and my wife is great, she is also a competitive horseback rider so her sport takes longer then mine. We also don't have kids

I moved away from the club where I used to play most every Saturday. I still go over a couple of times a month and play with the same group. Some in the group have played together for 20 years. Others around 10 years or less. We usually have 2, sometimes 3, tee times. They are a fun group. I miss not getting to play with them every weekend but I don't miss living where I used to live.
Every other Sunday, my tournament league plays, and most of those guys I have played golf with for 5 years or longer.
About the only time I pick up with someone or play the round by myself is when I play during the week or play later in the day.

No wrestling fans here apparently.

Play with my men's team on Tuesdays and Thursdays and typically with my regular buddies on Sat or Sun mornings on a good week. Play with whoever they pair me with when I travel. It's really fun to meet new people when travelling. Got paired with 3 fantastic gentlemen from Microsoft on Bandon Dunes this week. I can recall the Islanders at PGA West Stadium. Some young aspiring Tour pros at Torrey. A political lobbyist from DC at Chambers....etc. Really adds to the experience when you play with quality people.

Solid topic...

Weekend warrior here who play 2-4 times a month on Saturdays. Ususally with the same 3-5 guys but it seems that lately it's been a bit of a different cast of characters. Beers are involved and everyone shoots in the 80's-90s.

During the summer I've been known to walk on as a single and get mixed up with randoms during the week. I can't ever really remember having a bad experience getting paired up with anyone. I generally not to try and take the game that serious.
How crazy is that? Pretty much the same here, including North East (New England). But my wife just stopped competing a couple years ago (but still rides and boards her horse down the road). Golf is cheaper than horses.

We actually streamed the Palm Beach Hunter Spectacular on USEF Network to the big TV tonight to watch it. :) THAT was crazy money.

I play almost all of my golf at home with 4 different buddies, mostly myself and one or two of them at the same time, as they all play with different buddies as well. All social golf, we spend 3.5 - 4.5 hours solving the world's problems.

Tried to get into a men's league a few years ago, but the creative scoring and sandbagging made me rather save my money for other things.

I play with a regular group of up to 12 guys every sunday. We go to a different course every week and play a few money games nothing crazy. None of us have or know our handicapp or anything but we do putt everything in and take penalty strokes. The only thing we do not by the book is if you hit one OB you drop where it went out to speed things up. We all enjoy the game equally and we do drink while we play but we dont get crazy. We usually wait til the back 9.
