His SS was actually higher than I thought it would be. They showed his stats one of the events and his Driver speed was 112+. You are correct though, it just doesn't look like he loads the club at all.

Yeah, he has used heavy shafts for awhile now. Even went I went to his cottage to fish he was using this!

Why is that? Steve likes that flat flight with a heavy, stiff feel. He played ProForce V2 86 and 96 tipped a bit in the woods before switching to these last year. The shaft still doesn't have that much influence on numbers-- at least as much as we talk about it on here. I think his 8.2TS is tipped 1" as well so its more feel than raw numbers IMO.

Example-- Louis Oosthuizen uses 7.2TS Stiff flex tipped and he's got 10 mph of ball speed on Stricker.

I think too many people think that everyone has a magic bullet when selecting a shaft. Most importantly-- what do you want the club to feel like? What flight are you looking for? What miss are you trying to eliminate? Then, do the numbers match up? For a guy like Stricker-- he could play 6.2X untipped or 8.2TS X tipped 1" and not see a whole lot in the numbers department but I know from talking to a couple guys on the Titleist van that he likes heavy for his tempo and he does not really want to curve the driver anymore than he already does.

If you look at any "fitting chart" it will show high launch (14) and low spin (2500) as optimal and hell now TaylorMade wants 17 and 1700 which is not realistic for most people. Not all guys playing for a living that drive it well would want to launch it that high... very much player dependent.
