Looking forward to an epic battle tomorrow between the men's teams. So much fun. I agree DP, what a game today. Curling and hockey golf. What a great morning.

Not to mention I got to watch 1/2 of it while at the hospital with my wife. All went well. Baby has four functioning chambers in 'its' heart and big feet.

Congratulations PD!! It took me 30 minutes to laugh my way through 3 pages of this and then you slip that in at the end.

Wait a sec...I can't defect until after Friday's Canada - US hockey semi-final.
You should get on the train early and move north of the border. Didn't you see the lickin' we put on Latvia today?
Um...er...yeah. Lickin. Almost just like the lickin the Russians put on the Fins. Heads will literally roll.

PD...if you're driving to Brazil, stop by Chicago and pick up your old father.
Can we pick up Sean2 and his mother on the way. We could make this a family love fest. Make up for lost time.

True Canadian Story: I am teaching my last class of the day and I marshal my students to escort them to the computer lab on the second floor of the school. I pass a colleague's classroom and hear a ruckus. I peer in the room and he has the game broadcast on the overhead screen. There's a minute to go. I quietly usher my students into the back of his classroom and we watched the final seconds of the game together. A truly Canadian moment.
That is an awesome story. The Lat goalie was amazing. Stopped well over 50 shots while the Lat's only had around 15 SOG.

I suppose we can get Sean but I'm just not sure that the 24x7 sunshine is something I can handle. And we're not playing I spy with Sean.
This is so true... When ever Canada was playing hockey in the olympics all our classes would go and watch it. Canadian logic: hockey> school

CBC's Greatest Canadian television series settled this dispute once and for all in 2004. Here was the list, as voted by the Canadian public (we hold plebiscites to discuss such controversial topics):

1. Tommy Douglas - NDP leader, "founder" of Canadian healthcare system.
2. Terry Fox - Cancer activist who died during an attempted cross-country marathon.
3. Pierre Trudeau - Liberal Prime Minister of the 70s and 80s.
4. Dr. Frederick Bantin - Inventor of Insulin.
5. David Suzuki - CBC nature show host, environmentalist.
6. Lester Pearson - Prime Minister - "founder" of modern peacekeeping.
7. Don Cherry - CBC hockey commentator.
8. Sir. John A. MacDonald - Canada's first Prime Minister.
9. Alexander Graham Bell - purported inventor of the telephone.
10. Wayne Gretzky - Hockey player.

If you wish to view a list of the top 100 Canadians of all-time: http://www.filibuste...t Canadians.htm

My top three would include Terry Fox, Tommy Douglas, and my former highschool history teacher (trust me he was that good).

Cardoustie,

This is my wife's fourth pregnancy. My son was born nearly 4 years ago and his pregnancy was relatively uneventful until the last two weeks. We've had two miscarriages over the past year and a half and now we're on round four and are hoping good things will result in May. The baby is due the 26th of May which is a day before our anniversary, the same day as a friend and uncles birthday, and a colleague has the same due date. Really strange. My son is incredibly excited to be a big brother so I hope all goes well for his sake.

I'm developing seat work activities for tomorrow as we speak so we can spend the afternoon working and watching the game. Just seems like the right thing to do. I really do hope the game is as exciting as today's contest, although my heart would probably benefit from an 8 - 2 blowout.

Go Canada!

Good luck PD !!!!

We had a scare with our 2nd .. My wife had quite a tear in her uterine wall at three months but ER came thru for us

My twin and his wife had their own crazy story. Issues with delivery of his first child. Five or six miscarriages. Adopted a girl from China. Then had a "miracle" pregnancy and ended up with three. His poor wife spent the last six months of her term in the hospital

Our work is going to air the Canada/US game tomorrow. Serious respect to our owner there because frankly i think even he knows many employees will watch the full game. He is a sports fan so i guess he gets it.

I'm not even a hockey fan really. I mean for a Canadian that is....but it's a big game, should be a lot of fun. The American team is really really good and arguably should be favored here

Canada is the reigning Gold Medal Champ...and your team is arguably the best team ever assembled. If this game is as good as the 2010 gold medal game it will be awesome to watch! The first period of that game was the best I've ever seen and I've watched thousands and thousands of game.

Like i said i'm not an expert, but i sit with 2 diehard hockey fans and both of them say the US has been playing the best of anyone, so i trust them

Also people in Montreal have a bit of a chip on our shoulder in regards to the Canadian team due to the perceived ongoing snub of PK Subban

The US wasn't supposed to be a high scoring team and they lead the tourney by a nice margin. It should be so much fun.
