How Bad Is Martin Hall On The Golf Channel

Martin Hall and Michael Breed are death to your game. Way too much information, gimmicks and gizmos. They're the TV version of Golf Digest magazine.

I think he is a good "teacher/host" but man when he gets annoying pretty fast and seems to talk really loud for no reason

I like Martin Hall. He tries to give you memory aids to jog your mind when you're out on the course, blowing. Yes, Mike Breed has a much prettier swing, but have you ever just listened to Breed's word? ! The guy trips over his own tongue, he just can't spit it out. Frankly, both Breed and Hall are DIY hardware guys, building aids on the set! What do you call a floatie or a swim noodle? Finished golf products? also like Hall's book recommendations, even tho 90% of the audience doesn't read. When I want to swing well, I visualize Breeds swing. But both are not the best instructor. I have got more from Butch Harmon, Rick Smith and Hank Haney, who's personality I can't stand.

 

Breed is dyslexic and has ADD. He speaks openly about it and how much trouble he has completing and connecting thoughts. He can be a little much sometimes, but I find his story and his radio show to be both entertaining and motivating. Hank Haney is hated by a lot of people, but the insight he gives is worth a listen as well. very entertaining. Unless he is out and his co-host fills in because that guy is horribly boring.

I like Martin Hall. The show would be better without Blair who is constantly interrupting. She is eye candy only and adds nothing to the content.

I like Blair's show. I wish she would hit more shots and maybe disect Michelle's putting stroke.

Agee with him getting annoying and loud.

 

I feel like he’s always hyperactive and screaming at me.

 

It’s like he’s in a rush to get done before commercial break and he’s yelling to boot.

 

Its unsettling and it makes me nervous. I quite literally turn the channel every time he comes on now.

That has to tell you something about whether or not Hall is popular. I personally like both Martin Hall and Michael Breed. Is it a bit of sensory overload? Of course, but they have a lot of time slots to fill between tournaments and the 10000 rerun of Baggar Vance.

Golf is a game where certain feelings work for one player and not another. Certain swing thoughts work for one player and not another.

 

That's one reason instructional shows on TGC can be annoying.

 

Different personalities help make it somewhat watchable and less dry. It just depends on what you like.

Boring people don't land TV gigs, he's a Top 100 teacher. He seems a little quirky but that is what keeps the masses entertained. Serious golfers don't really look for advice on TV do they? It's broad and free advice. If you want something better you're gonna have to pay for it.
