Where do you practice? Chicago Edition:

I wanted to start a thread to find out where you addicts hone your craft.

 

My favorite range close to home is St. Andrews, I rarely practice there though. Most of my range time is "during lunch" at Boulder off of 59 and Higgins behind Sears corporate. This place is pretty awful, but they have golf balls and are 4 minutes from my work.

I used to practice my short game almost everyday at Bartlett Hills on the way home from work but there is little free time this year with the new baby.

 

How about you guys?

1. St. Andrews
1a. Prairie Landing...great range plus practice holes.
3. Links and Tees in Addison...say hi to Todd and Tommy.
4. Bolingbrook.
5. Springbrook.

And if you're way northwest, Aldeen's facility is awesome!

you guys are spoiled having such easy access to great practice facilities. My go to place is Willow Hill. Grass range is nothing special, but they have a short game chipping hole which gives you about 50 yards of range to work with from all sorts of lies and the best part is no one seems to ever be there. I haven't done it much lately, but I try to get over there at lunch and work on chipping around the green. Its not uncommon to find me there in a suit and tie working on green side chips with my 60 degree.

Haha! I actually love to! I would spend days on end at the course if life, money and time could afford.

Someone mentioned grass tees.. I actually don't mind mats. As long as I stick to long irons and hybrids, hitting on a mat seems to help keep me shallow.

I do spend some time at GreenValley on lake street too... Especially in the cold!

I do my practice at Oak Brook Golf Club. Large, although relatively flat putting green and grass range, although it gets a lot of use and can get beat up quickly. But it's between work and home so it fits perfectly.

I coach youth and high school sports, so I tend to practice near those locations. This summer it's been Winnetka (blah), Willow Hill and Anetsberger Park. Willow hill is great, it has a grass range and a few practice greens. Anetsberger is a 9 hole par 3 course in Northbrook. They have a great well maintained practice green. It's has a couple of bunkers and a decent chipping/ pitching area. (It's my secret spot, I can't believe I'm sharing it.) When I can get there, I also like Pine Meadow and Harborsides' practice areas.

My first place of choice. 10 minute drive from home. Although my backyard gets a better work out than most facilities.

Practice? Nope, doesn't ring a bell. With the extended travel times from downtown, it's difficult to get in a warm-up session before a round, nevermind a full blown practice session.

I did manage two hours of practice earlier this year at Harborside while my knee was still on the mend. Spent most of the time chipping and pitching in the short game area.

I'd say Prairie Landing has the best practice facilities in the area by far. You simply can't beat having two full practice holes with the short game area between them.

My go to spot is Links and Tees. About 10 mins from the house and a pretty solid practice facility. Grass range is nice as long as you don't get caught on the down slope in the front on the right side. And yes, Todd and Tommy are great guys.

Oak Brook and Village Links are second choices and easy to stop at on the way home from work.

This season has been primarily Stonewall Orchard and Pine Meadow.

I also hit up Libertyville Sports Complex and Countryside

I live in river north - so it's tough to practice without a bit of a commute. That being said I typically go to harborside. Decent short game area. I also practice at Fresh Meadows. Pretty weak range in every aspect, but it has grass and lights, so it works.

Lol I played Links and Tees for the first time with some family members the other day. Stay out of the fairway bunker on that beast 80 yarder.

My practice facilities are White Mountain in Tinley Park and Square Links in Frankfort Square. Mainly because they are nearby.

Cog Hill has an amazing practice facility. I'm going to try and use it more often.

I mostly practice and play at Sunset Ridge CC although I also spend a good amount of time at Conway and Northshore as I have friends and family who belong there. Public wise I'll play the Glen rarely and willow hill and winnetka decently often.

Practice primarily out of Stonewall Orchard due to it's proximity to my office (great lunch break spot)

Pine Meadow has a beautiful facility and a few minutes up the road from Libertyville Sports Complex. Also, get some work in at my home course, Bittersweet, as well.

Have to throw this quick range story from Sunday at Blackstone out there. The range balls there include many that are regular balls with a line drawn on them. On Sunday a gentleman got out of his cart with the driver, walked out 10 yards, picked up a handful of balls and then hit them.

When he was done, he walked into the range again, found several that he liked and then put them in his pocket. He then went back to his cart and put them in his bag. Not sure if he used them on the course or saved them for his next "range session" but was just entertained by this.
