So it seems Callaway took a old JDM driver, gave it adjustability and a new name.

Β

So switching the materials used from the higher more expensive titanium to another cost effective but just good and explosive steel wasn't a significant of change for you? How much R&D do you think goes I to something like that as well removing or adding the CG location and perimeter weighting? Might look similar but definitely not the same

If only they could strike up a deal with Ruger... In any case pretty exciting to see the 3 wood in person, love the original Warbird's!

Looks like a jacked up version of the VFT pro series drivers... nice looking driver however will most likely be too long at around 45.5 to 46 inches and the shaft will be too light at 50 to 60 grams. Lets see a tour model (400cc) at 44 to 44.5 inches and with a 70 to 80 gram shaft option at a D2 to D3 swingweight.

Except for the fact that going shorter, smaller, and heavier would be the exact opposite of what this club was designed to do.
lol... Thanks professor obvious... What I was getting at was it would be nice to have an alternative to an over length driver with a wet noodle attached for a shaft. It would be nice not having to custom order what actually fits... Not looking for a pipe dream of extra distance... Looking to have control of my tee shots... But again, thanks for pointing out the obvious bud.

No problem, bud. I think pointing out the obvious might be more productive for the people who won't get your sarcasm than chasing the pipe dream of manufacturers catering their whole business toward 1% of the market. Cheers!

You may not but the target consumer of this specific driver will. Think the X2hot pro might be up your alley instead.
i am quite sure that this driver will be played on tour... and that it wont be played at 45.5 inches and with a 55 gram shaft... so then the tour pros are not the target of this driver either? hmmm interesting... i do like the X2Hot pro but not at 45.5 inches.

Tell you what... I said I wouldn't. But, I know I'll end up buying the slightly heavier 9* and cranking it up to 11*, installing my gamer shaft and hoping my good pal Knudson can hot melt a few grams up for me. And cutting it to 45"

You know why? Cause I'm an easily swayed consumer who wants the newest toy.

I'm thinking along the same lines. If I like the head shape and the feel, I could use an upgrade.

Why are they guessing as to who wants the heavier head? Are there not pros playing drivers at 10+ in loft? I'd rather get a 10.5 and open it to 9.5-10.0, but the head will be too light at 45". They should have done a "Pro" head in 9 and 10 and the Performance head in 10.5 and 11.5. They could sell to two markets.

And why aren't more OEMs making drivers with a customizable weight port AND actually selling the weights?! Titleist does. X2 Hot Pro has it but no weights available?! We all don't want 46" shafts in our drivers!

This one is at 45.5, actually according to the spec sheet.

And the 9* had plays at D2 stock... The 10.5 and 13.5 D0.

I'm the same, would rather have the 10.5 head that could go 9.5-12.5, but it's just too light I think.

Both heads are 460 though so it should work out.

Edit: just got off the phone with Cally. Preordered the 9* at -1/2", requesting D2 (although they can't guarantee it) ... +1 wrap.

Golfwrx, I loath you.....

While I don't know how many they brought to Louisville, Chad Coleman tweeted yesterday that they only had 1 V-Series head left on the tour van.

Well, he could go down to a golf store and buy a TM Burner Superfast. Same driver.

I sure like the looks of this driver. Sounds like its a combo of the X Hot and Optiforce lines. Love the headcover and I don't mind the emblem on the bottom at all. Only negative I see is price. At $399 I can wait them out till they drop. But I can see me ending up with one eventually.
