Well, it's August 22 and I just happened to be at my local PGA Superstore tonight and saw and hit these. Nice looking clubs for sure, still uncertain about the weight. I hit the 3w and heavenwood, both felt nice but with 50g shafts in them it felt light to me, but not terribly light and perhaps I could get used to it. The heavenwood is an interesting if not confusing club to me. Shaft length was just short of the 3w. I compared it to the 7w and couldn't see a ton of difference, perhaps the heavenwood is slightly taller. Certainly a neat club, just not quite sure of the intention or where it might fit in the bag. Might be more of a niche club. Not a bad club by any means, just not sure how or where it fits with the rest of the line.

Did you get a chance to hit the driver?

Indeed, lighter is better for club builders than heavier, but with all of the adjustability in modern drivers, why don't they use external weights? Relying on holt melt limits average consumer adjustability. Is there a port on these heads?

Callaway's new marketing strategy. Release an expensive ultra-light stick at the end of the year and get people to buy it. Take that same design and offer it in a head with adjustability and something that isn't light as a feather. Then convince all of those same folks that blew $240 and are now spraying the ball all over the planet with the D0 swing weight to buy the heavier model with more control and more adjustability to fit your swing to pony up the $240 for the Great Big Bertha with the traditional Warbird Sole. Yep, now that "we can see the path" it all makes sense Callaway!

This looks like a promising driver as, imo, drivers have gone a tad too heavy with the likes of SLDR and even the G25 & G30 heads going heavier BUT using a counterbalance shaft to make it feel lighter. For me, my ultimate driver would be something like the SFTP with a lightweight adjustment. This one may come close but right now, I ain't forking out any $$$ for this experiment. I already have a SFTP and an SLDR which I swap between when I feel like it. Overall, this driver looks promising.

Cosmetically, one thing I don't like are the lines on the face. Adding spin?

Could have, but passed as I'm not interested in the driver really. I see you're in Joliet, the PGA SS in Downers Grove is where I saw them.

I was at the same store today. I looked at the v series but they only had a few of them. I found the 9 degree in the demo area and it looks really good to the eye. Actually looks to be shorter than the 45.5 length. Probably just the effect of the white shaft. Even the 10.5 didn't feel ridiculously light.
Any idea when the stores will get the 9 degree drivers to the store?

Yeah, they had a limited selection in the demo area, but a pretty full rack of most of the options, at least on fairways, don't recall how many drivers. The one driver I grabbed felt long and the stiff shaft felt a bit whippy, but I wasn't paying too much attention to it.
They had only 3 or 4 v series drivers total. And no 9 degree stiff shaft.

You say the stiff shaft felt whippy? I hit the BBV in a 10.5* head with the regular flex shaft and whippy is exactly how I would describe it. The DSG I went to only had 2, the one had the regular shaft and one had the light flex shaft. I can't imagine what the light flex shaft would feel like. I loved the look of the head and it felt good swinging it but trying to hit a ball with it was bad for me. It's just too flexible to control. I would have liked to try the stiff shaft for comparison but the store only got the 2. The manager there was pissed that they didn't get any to put in their demo area so he taped up the one I hit and we took turns trying it. He didn't like it all. He felt it was over priced and wouldn't sell at the $399 price. He said it would be like the OptiForce and start selling once it hit the $199 price range. He asked what I was hitting and I told him the X Hot. He said stick with the X Hot which I will. I'm hitting it to well to change now.

Well, I got to try it this weekend. I brought my Razr Fit to compare. I left with my Razr Fit. I couldn't sole it comfortably. The Warbird sole made it feel funny when I placed it on the ground and it spun quite a bit.

I tried the fairway woods as well. I left with a Ping G30, if that tells you anything. I really wanted to like them. :(

That's funny, I heard some negative talk about these clubs from the sales guys at Golfsmith Saturday as well. Very limited selection in all clubs, very few stiff shafts around. PGA Superstore seemed to get more clubs and more options in shaft flexes.

I picked up the 9* V-series with stiff shaft in Dick's the other night and it looks really good to my eye and did not feel overly light. It seemed nicely balanced as well. With that said, I may try to find a 9* head and try out one of my existing Callaway shafts in it. I am really liking the Fuji Pro 63 in my X2HP head at 9.5* N. Hopefully these clubs will be like the X2HP's and be cheap as dirt before too long! The 3 wood also looks really nice and sets up well.

From a graphics standpoint, they look much better than any current Callaway offering. I really like the looks of the fairways.

Will the shafts for the X2 Hot fit into this?
I haven't seen a full spec sheet with shaft sizes, but I'd have to think they're the standard 335 shafts. If you're referring to tips and adapters I do not know.
I believe they all fit. The latest adapter, which first started with the OptiForce, is the same one being used in the rest of their heads, X2H included. There has been nothing about a new adapter, so the same one should work for this until they make a change for all line further down the line.

I put a Tour Green into the BBV the other day and gave it a whirl, 10.5 head to compare with the G30 in the same shaft Tour Green, 10.5 head, same length...on a GC2 Foresight monitor. Swingweight felt solid, not to light, as the 10.5 head is the lighter BBV head..the 9* is a bit heavier and will be easier to swing weight with heavier shafts.

not going into to all the numbers, but in the testing, swung both clubs in opposite order for two rounds of 6 swings each..after warming up with another driver for 10-12 shots.

BBV launched around 14.5-15.5..........Ping 15-16.5

BBV SS was around 103.5...............Ping was 101.5

BBV Spin was around 3200.........Ping was 3750

BBV Side spin was around 650.........Ping was 1100............COULD NOT SQUARE THE PING UP..

BBV was longer on avg and had more roll after impact. I preferred the BBV feel and the smaller footprint at address. I prefer Ping I series to any of the G series...so I didn't expect to like the set up anyway. BBV looks smaller than it is to my eye.

Overall fit and finish on the BBV was better to me from the top...classic GBB shape and Chevron alignment aid.

Your results may vary.

When I get a chance I have two shafts that I want to try in the BBV: Fuji pro 63s and Speeder 661s. So far in my X2hot the Fuji pro has been a better launch compared to the speeder but I'm actually hoping the BBV with Fuji Pro is better just primarily due to the crown graphics being less on the BBV than the X2Hot

That should be light enough to get you in the high C9-D0 range on SW..depending on your grip...so not too bad. I was at C7 with a Veylix 62 gram in the 9* head for testing...touch too light overall, but after a few swings..wasn't that bad actually..miss was a pull left a touch farther than my normal pull. FWIW...SW to me is overrated..I had an XHP with 81 gram shaft cut to 42.5 and was C9 and killed it...added tape to get to D2..felt horrible...whatever works best!
