Thanks, I didn’t know what to think of the sand wedge at first until I actually played it. Rounded leading edge and either low bounce or it just hides it well but actually works really good. Great out of rough and wet or heavier sand. These irons will make damn near anyone throw pro style divot’s.

I saw a Mac Muirfield 20th SW come up for sale recently, but with shipping it would have cost more than I was prepared to pay.

I've a set of Muirfields with a SW, and the SW looks to have a slightly different grind to the 20th SW in your picture. The biggest difference between the Muirfields and Muirfield 20ths is the shape of the PW. With the Muirfields, it's a bit more wedge-like at address with a rounded leading edge but has a larger muscle like an iron on the back. On the other hand, the Muirfield 20th PW is more iron-like at address with a straight leading edge, but the back looks more like a wedge. Think I've got a picture somewhere...Here we go. In the first picture, the 20th is on the left.

They're both great irons, but I prefer the 20ths. One of my favourite sets, in fact.

I always wanted to have a Muirfield set. The older Muirfield’s look so good with that shinier finish and that curved mb definitely isn’t ugly especially in that wedge comparison you have there.

Interestingly i just took some comparison pics with a 80’s Colokrom M85 Sw and was surprised to see so much difference. Leading edge and toe is rounder on M85 and a little more compact. Tough to take pictures without fish-eye distorting things but Mac definitely wasn’t just stamping blanks like I thought they might be with sand wedges in 80’s.

Here’s a comparison of the 20th to an almost modern Vokey SM6 S grind 54.

Little side tracking here but till a few years ago that rounded leading edge really bothered me cosmetically. Then my buddy picked up a first gen (2016’s I think) set of Callaway PM grind wedges. If you ever stumble on one give it a couple swings. Pure ugliness with a leading edge so round it recesses bye heal so much it looks offset and also unattractive high toe. BUT ground to perfection and hide a pretty high amount of bounce. Can hit a 64 off linoleum with these. My next set going in my modern if I can find some nice ones but don’t think many people bought em.

That comparison with the Colokrom SW is interesting. At first, I thought it was just a different grind, with a more rounded leading edge and less rounded toe on the Colokrom, but the last picture of the backs side by side shows how different the heads are. The Colokrom seems to be not only more compact heel-to-toe, but also a bit shallower.

Think I prefer the Colokrom, though I'd be tempted to take a grinder to the leading edge.

While looking for a lob wedge for my GrandSon (settled on a Mizuno T10 64*), I came across this driver....can find no info, but checked Wood Bros cuz of the shaft - looks kinda sorta like the KoolKat driver, sort of...
Any ideas....

I don't have any expertise on Wood Bros, but it sure looks like a custom ordered Kool Kat.

Came across this set while looking for another set...FoxBat investment cast stainless steel blades. Have no idea on age. I did find out that a VietNam Vet started the company in the Texas MetroPlex (that other city, not Ft Worth 🤣)

3 thru PW plus a putter, the shafts had a green band on them that said "exclusively FoxBat TrueTemper Lite R" & the grips were old Golf Pride, The flanged putter had a FoxBat grip w/FoxBat logo on butt.

I've not seen any FoxBat irons like this, most I came across were later models towards or in the '90s...would love to know if these were made around the time of Hogan's Producers or PowerBilt's Thoroughbred  or Spalding's Executives

Don’t think many of that brand made it up north, I’ve never seen it. That logo is kinda sharp though. They should bring it back and produce ball markers and divot repair tools using the logo. I’m kinda a sucker for those kind of golf trinkets.

Ok while not a find but a thrift store find and a little horse trading got me my first true classic set I’m so excited about and will truly cherish. Clubs are 10 plus years older than me.

Without going into details I have to say it’s amazing how affordable this stuff can be when you’re dealing with the people that actually care about them, not just eBay flippers. BIG THUMBS UP TO YOU PEOPLE OUT THERE! I’m guessing there’s more of them here than one would think.

Can’t wait to put em in play next season. Never thought my Muirfield 20th’s would be my game improvement warmups. Not sure if Jack would have ever have played the woods but think he played a couple years newer version of the irons for a bit.

Irons have made a previous appearance on here. 1959 CF 4000 irons and Super Eye-O-Matic woods a couple years older than irons. SEOM’s have an older refinish and Driver reshaft.
Extremely solid and totally playable as they sit just needing new grips. Don’t know much about refinishing but guessing wouldn’t take much to mint them. Not sure if I ever will do anything but shine em up just a tiny bit and work out finish scratches. The grain is so fabulous compared to any of my 80’s Mac woods.
Leather iron grips need to be conditioned but are very nicely intact. The M75 wedge was something a local truly old timer collector gave me and I honestly had no idea what I was gonna do with it or even what it actually is other than being an old Colokrom.
Putter was a very generous throw in with clubs. Told the putter is a slightly newer remake, it’s definitely on the short side and honestly of all these clubs it’s the one I may fear the most to actually play with and not because I’m some great ball striker.
The bag is a $5 thrift find. Not sure HOT-Z bags were ever anything of high quality but I Love the rich colors of this particular one. And finally Speaking of thrift store bags found another 10inch top decent quality tour sized bag with rain cover to use for old club storage. No labels anywhere on it but says CAC on zipper pulls.

All of it is outstanding. Those Mac DS wedges IMHO are GOAT they are very versitile. Really good on goat track type courses with a variety of lies. I have a 53 model Armout that I rotate in and out on the vintage stuff. Really a fun club to hit

Wasn’t expecting this PING Tour Staff bag in a Unique thrift store in the winter time in Mn and very gladly paid the $15.99 price. While not a ‘Vintage’ find I’m gonna store old irons in this bag for now. 4 plus sets in it including my most recent find of Muirfield 20th 3-PW minus the 7 iron I got a week ago for $3 per. I sure don’t plan on hauling it around. Other than 1 zipper is a little tight but works and a tiny bit of wear on some piping it’s in wonderful condition. Not sure the rain cover has ever been on it.

PING tag was down in the bag. The autograph is very faint and guess I haven’t looked up if that is his actual or how his looks. This brings up so many questions.

  1. Could this actually be one of his personal bags or do you suppose it’s just some type of promotional or charity auction deal? Leaning towards the latter cuz of it’s condition but…

  2. How many bags would a tour player have/need?

  3. If it was used by him kinda interesting to think of what courses it’s been on or who it could have been around. Maybe it could have been near Tiger???
Just dreaming bout that but great for storage and cool to have. This would look really cool with every version of the Anser in it hmmm…Jesus it never stops does it!

Actually if you were into that sort of thing you could get really good money for it on some of the FB Ping Groups. But then again if you wanted to keep it I can see that too. What ever you choose to do it is a nice pickup for a nice price IMHO

Really cool! Who doesn’t want a set of  beryllium Eye2s?! Think I’d need 2 sets though cuz while the dark patina looks fantastic so does the freshly Coke soaked shiny ones.

Nah, the patina comes back pretty quickly.  I shined mine up when i first got them. Patina was back within a month. And more even than before across the set... Had to replace the 8 iron and was a bit different

But don't let that stop you from having 2 (or more) sets!

Ooops.  Finger slip on eBay.  😉

Got myself a set of Spalding MV2 stainless 2-PW irons for Christmas to go with my dy-nertial woods.  Same timeframe and MUCH better looking than the dy-nertial irons. All original with bird on ball grips just like the woods!  Should be a fun first round after New Year’s!

Sorry to hear about the Corvette. Lusted after one since I got my license long ago.

A matching MV2 sand wedge has been located and paid for.  Sadly, it looks like all these grips are done in due to old age and immoral living.  Good excuse to put some nice Karma or Tacki Mac wrap midsize on.

I say go for it--- I have always been of the thought of fixing them where you can play and enjoy whether it constitutes a grip or shaft change or both
