i played the RZN black last round out and coming from a supersoft - they were a little shorter distance wise of irons, spun great around the green and were very slow/firm playing off the putter (keep in mind it's very early spring, the greens were like a tennis ball on velcro).

i'm going to be playin the platinum for a few holes this weekend to see how they work out

I think if Nike made something in between black and platinum (what Rors and Tiger play) it would be perfect. I don't understand why they don't sell that model. A black with a little softer cover would be perfect

[/quote] i think the RZN core has a lot to do with it. i believe it's the same core in both balls, the outer layers are just different. it might be tough for them to find a 'middle ground' compound --- ie fit more golfers on both ends.

For those that are trying the Black and Platinum for the first time, don't judge it based on winter conditions. There aren't many urethane covered balls that are good winter balls (PV 1x is the best IMO). The Black and Platinum for me work best in regular Spring/Summer/Fall conditions. The Black does well in the wind and both can be hit high and land soft. As with any urethane ball, with the right putter, they can feel like hot butter on a warm knife when struck.

Used platinum before, black for now. I feel that black is better for around the greens. Controlled stop on the greens and feels good off the putter face.

I agree with gioguy21, short with irons. But ball is great off the tee. Too bad we will never get a mix of those two balls for us regular guys.

Got one round with the Black this past weekend and was a half club short with the irons all day. Felt great off the driver though.
