My oldest son is a Class A PGA member and a very good player..............but the youngest son is strictly recreational and probably plays 10 times a year, but likes the game, just too busy.

 

Anyway, youngest son calls and wants some help buying new irons.............he lives 1200 miles away but has been trying out irons. Decides he wants Ping S-55's and tells me he's hit them at two different places and wants some help with what to order.

 

7 iron SS 99-102 ...........avg distance 182 yards.............I told him he should call Bubba

Yeah, I just came from the range and there is this 20 year old kid hitting driver 300+ with probably 120 MPH swing speed. He's a baseball player and very strong. I am sure I can out play him as I am a 4 hdcp, but I have also been playing for almost twice as long as he has been alive. He probably has enough skill to play to a single digit but has only been playing 4-5 years and he isn't that competitive. I am 54 and can pick up a few miles per hour to get to maybe 105 with the driver but I am definitely going the other way as time passes. I remember and miss those good old days when I was limber and my body didn't hurt.

In the movie 1985 was the present and 1955 was the “past”, so if you were born before that, you’ve lived FOREVER, so you're not [i]getting [/i]old… that ship already sailed . (I’m pretty close to that, by the way).


In golf? You know you’re getting old when you say: "Look at how that kid hits the ball"… and the “kid” is about 20 or 25 years old.

Want me to go really old school in terms of technology? I worked with Vint Cerf, the grandfather of ARPAnet, the father of the Internet and where the term "Surfing the Net" originated. In 1996 he sat in my office in Boston and he drew on my whiteboard this little device that would go on to become the iPad/tablet we know today. Being Polish and rather stupid at times, I looked at him and asked how we got from there...to here. He also talked about how the first colony on Mars would have internet access and I kid you not, he explained the internet toaster.

There isn't anything he shared that hasn't come to fruition...other than him telling me I could be wealthy beyond imagination by investing in his vision...and again....being Polish and rather stupid at times just didn't work out.

What I like about getting old is that I can shoot 100,95,90 on the course and by the time I get home and tell others what I shot for the day it always seems to be low 80's because with my bad memory I seem to have forgotten a few strokes on the drive home..LOL

Ok DP say hello to my little friend,

One of my girlfriend's back in the day was so rich, they had the first VCR, in town, and a Amana Radar Range (microwave) She fixed me leftover fried chicken and mashed potatoes, and I remember being impressed, that the reheated chicken was moist, and the mashed tators were actually good reheated.
