Yep. I remember as a kid only having a window fan and when we got our first a/c for the house. We even had a car w/o a/c. No a/c in the south is not a good thing. I didn't walk to school barefooted though.

Not golf related but old person related. This happened today

So my wife and I had to go to the local mall to change our order on a bedroom set from Macy's. My mother and father in law are supposed to meet us shortly after at the Olive Garden in same parking lot for lunch. So after leaving the mall and walking across the parking lot to OG, we go inside and cannot find our in-laws anywhere. After scouring the joint twice we call our mother in law and say where are you? She said, " We are sitting down having bread waiting for you" We said Come to the front door, we can't find you anywhere.'

As we are standing at the front door, we see across the parking lot my mother in law inside the Red Lobster across the lot (about 200 yrds away)

Somehow they parked directly in front of a huge RedLobster sign over the front door, sat in the waiting area with the fish tank that had live lobsters in it for 5 minutes and then walked by an 8x6 ft sign that said LOBSTERFEST!! on their way to their seats without ever realizing they were at the wrong eatery. Even the bread is completely different and we have been to that OG before with them many of time.

They are both early 70's and I can only hope my brain works better when I am that age.

My Dad bought that same microwave I think . In fact just looked it up. That's the one. 1978 Amana Radar Range. Darned thing lasted 36 years. Touch screen too. Timer still works on it though lol..

There's a jillion of them. Air conditioning was an option in cars back in the day. We had three b&w channels, but only if the antenna was just right. Had a party line. We got a microwave as a wedding gift in '74, we used to watch it boil water. NO #$%@& cell phones. No computers, except mainframes using punch cards. Gasoline price wars where gas would be .20-.25 cents, the attendants would come out, check your tires and oil, offer to vacuum your car and stations would give away promotional items to loyal customers. Had only a swamp cooler in our house, floor and wall furnaces for heat. I remember the second Dust Bowl. Just no end.

We had one of these at the cottage to keep the price down. I remember when I was younger thinking how cool it would be to listen in on someones conversation...after about 3 minutes I realized how boring people are, and never did it again.

Our supermarket (Market Basket) had one of those testing units. To me it looked like the console of a space ship. Very cool.
