i like the Grint. Easy stat tracking. I like looking through other people's scorecards.

For Example: I like thinking about how pumped up bangas was after he birdied #1 at Chambers Bay. Thinking "TODAY IS THE DAY".

I was -1 thru 4...

And you birdied the 18th! You did something DJ couldn't! How's that feel?

I like how Abb sounds older than Kent.

I am older than Kent, in spirit.

And skeletal stability...

Anyone else excited about PoShos? Teamed up with MTN and hoping to repeat our middle of the pack performance from Queenstown that resulted in a prize.

Careful. If you're too good, you'll just come in last in the A flight.

Can you endeavor to slightly above average mediocrity? Can you do that for us?

Was it playing 4 or 5 for DJ that day? Also, that tee box is like 175 yards long so...

Anyway, I almost eagled it. I was -1 on the Par 5s despite a double on 8. Birdied the rest. I shot an 86 to give some sense of how poor the rest of my game was.

Not brief recap:

Barely made a 750 tee time despite being out the door by 615. Chambers is almost exactly an hour away but hadn't realized that I needed gas plus I caught a bit of traffic. My buddy gets discounted rates and Chambers (at least in offseason) seems to be super chill about their rates so they let me on at his rate - $65. The course was in decent but not fantastic shape. Seattle has had crazy rain this year so all of the courses are a little wonky. Chambers drains well so it wasn't much of a problem but you can tell it has messed with the growing cycle a little bit. For reference re rain - http://www.seattlepi...er-11034669.php

Anyways, I got about 15-20 swings in on the new range (they now have two. The original is better the new one is next to the first tee so you no longer need a shuttle from warm-up to tee). Those swings are the last time my swing felt halfway natural. I also haven't been to yoga in a month so that might explain some things...

Anyhoo, I missed the green with my second on the short par 5 first. That put me about 25 yards back left and WAY below the green. You can more or less see where I was in this vid. Ended up hitting a great wedge to 4in. Bogeyed 2 and parred 3. The par 5 fourth was playing a little longer than the listed 424 and though it's an uphill dogleg, it's not a tough hole if you stay out of the bunkers. I mean it's a 424 yard par 5 so ya know. I ended up chipping to a foot to get to -1 thru 4.

Then the wheels came off and it made me sad.

I did drive the green on 10 though. And hit the back of the cup on my uphill eagle putt on 18 (no way I was leaving that f***er short) but was too hard. I couldn't hit an iron to save my life. I was ok (for me) off the tee.

Chambers is a fun course and I think a lot of the problems with the greens were due to it being a young course and the fact that the USGA let it dry out WAY too much for the US Open which caused the poa to grow back unevenly. That said, it's definitely not a spectator friendly venue. It looks cool but the hillsides are too steep to put a lot of visitors. Staff was pretty chill. My review is basically the same as last year. If you're in the area and can get on at a reasonable rate, definitely go for it. But don't expect it to be Pebble (or Bandon for that matter).

i think 10 wrxers out there saturday, a total of fifty six players for POSH. there will be some ballers out there for sure (no, i am not including myself in that group). best thing is to avoid scheming for the first flight, play your best and see where the chips fall in the end.

so when you make that 15 footer on 18 for bird, you can celebrate for real instead of thinking of the potential placement ramifications.

wait a minute, who am i kidding?

that putt will be for bogey.

also: i am expecting a very decent sized skins pot. make sure you bring cash to get in on that action.

56? Not sure I've played a DCGT event with anywhere near that. Noice.

28 teams potentially in the skins pool....sweet.

Wouldn't be surprised at the end of the day if there were only a few skins too with it being scramble format.

Well it looks like the US Open is going to be the anti-Masters, 45 hours of live coverage over 4 days.

Hoping they keep up the good on-screen tech stuff that they had during some of the Am events last year too.

They seem to be ramping it up each year. Is there even 11.25 hours of golf played each day out there?

PQ just gonna lock himself in with about 40 old socks and hug himself.

I guess with that much live golf you're getting the first tee shot of the first group right through to the end? It does sound like a lot.

Although I guess "live coverage" doesnt necessarily have to mean "live golf" - but its probably pretty close.

hey guys -

bayrat88 just joined the grint and will be joining us at WC as a guest. send him a friend request. he's a legit stick too! (2hcp)

good to see he hasn't been scared off by our adolescent shenanigans and disgustingly awful differentials.

or, maybe he will be, eventually.

time will tell.

working on the tee sheet for TRU now, expect an email tomorrow afternoon after i can confirm everyone's pre-payment.

Spent an hour on the practice holes at EPP yesterday. Spent an hour and a half this evening hitting bunker shots from the brand new sand that Langston put in at their short game area. Ironically, they put new sand in only one bunker of the entire 18 but all of the practice area bunkers, including the formerly empty bunkers facing the road, got new sand. In my future, I see a frequent number of short game practices at Langston followed by ramen at Toki. If you dorm dudes (and MTN I suppose) ever want to join, it's a standing invite.

Hive WAGS welcome as well.

How are the practice holes at EPP? I always forget about them while there.

Not half bad actually. They get booked up so call ahead if you are going on a weekend. I tried to get out there at noon on Sunday and they were booked through 4PM. Lessons get first dibs then its first come, first serve. I never used them for a good 2 years and now I've been out there a bunch of times. You get a shag bag with about 70 or so balls and you get the hole for an hour. And you can take the shag bag to to the range and hit those after your time is up so you're basically paying $7 for a medium bucket and $7 to rent the hole for an hour.

Hole 2 and Hole 3 have bunkers with halfway decent sand. Hole 2 in particular has a long, flat bunker that allows you to hit bunker shots of varying distances. It's not new white sand like what they just put in at Langston but it's in ok shape and fine to hit out of. Each of the three areas is big enough that you can hit up to a good 100 yards. Maybe up to 140 depending on how aggressive you want to be. The greens are small and the balls are standard EPP quality so you have to keep in mind that you will never be able to get the ball to check up. I was on Hole 2 and the north side of the green hadn't been mowed in a while so it was all thick fluffy shots. The south side was baked out (read dead) grass so you could practice hitting off of tight lies. I'm sure the conditions vary a ton throughout the year.
