It just stands out as more memorable when you hit a couple bad shots in a row because it's fairly rare. It's really a compliment, in a weird way. No one gives a s*** if I hit a terrible shot, because it's expected.

city stole my next entry (the finale of the 3&1 closeout at last years capitol cup :wave:), but i could go one hole prior. hobbits, par 3 16th. we're both on in reg, i'm about 20 feet away with a right to lefter. fabb is straight up hill. i waffle mine down there to about 3 feet. not conceded. pucker is in full effect. fabb then hits an amazingly awful putt. he had less than 20 feet uphill for birdie, and now he has 12 feet left for par. misses that. still not dead either. :fie: rather than take miss another putt, he just concedes the hole.

 

this is the same guy that later in the year had sub-25 putts at caves in the most redonkulous display of fantabulous putting.

 

god that ketch putter was an awful fit. i hope it drowned in a watery grave.

GTF v2.1: this was YEARS ago. fabb and goose were paired up in the DCGT season-opener at WC. coming down 18, they were in contention for first, and in position to hit the green in two. goose hits an iron just over the left part of the green from waaaaaaaay back. fabb's got that sonartec hybrid in hand, undoubtedly feeling super confident and just stone-cold shanks one into the water. tour sauce one handed follow thru. i think it bounced a few times before just plopping in.

I think of you more like a power bottom.

 

Dave's shot was so funny.

 

He hit a drive from the white tees that hit about 100mph into some rough about 10 feet out from the tee box, but was lucky enough to trickle onto the women's tee box.

 

He tried to put a 3W into play from the womens' tee box and just pounded the ball straight into the ground. It literally advanced about 5 feet and he was STILL on the tee box. I couldn't take a full swing at a golf ball with a 3W and advance it 5 feet if you gave me 100 tries.

 

That's one of those things about playing with him, though. Almost every round with that guy, you'll see a recovery shot from a hay bale, a ball bounce into the fairway from 100 yards in the woods, a hole-out from a mud puddle. He made a 30-foot curler from over a hog's back on 7 for birdie at PB Dye that was insane.

When you go back to Caves, you should clearly not bring whatever thredizen you brought the previous time. I bet that person was bad luck. Maybe if you bring a certain pale irishman, that'd be ideal? Ever hear of the phrase 'luck of the Irish'?

GTF v2.1: man, the memories are just flooding back. we're playing clustered spires and we're at the reachable par 5 on the back. fabb hits it down the middle of the tee (of course). i'm flailing around in the woods left, punch out a 6i and have a wedge in. fabb pulls the ping driving iron he was going on (and on, and on) about how great it was, and proceeds to just pull hook it into infinity, down into the gunch (that should have been a lake, but whatevs). searched well beyond the 5 minute deadline - no ball.

 

i don't think that driving iron ever made it back out of the bag again. like, ever.

GTF v2.1: so, we're playing blue mash, and it's hole 16, a long dogleg left-ish par 4. fabbsmash off the tee, carries the bunker but stays in the left rough. i do something bad, punch up, and i'm in the right rough, about the same distance from the hole. fabb hits, catches it a little fat. YUGE pelt. i hit, also catching it fat. another YUGE pelt. i go pick up mine, fabb picks up his, and we both turn and look at each other and just start cracking up.

 

we're both going 70s bush with them. totally unplanned. one of my favorite #fabbad shots of all time.

I've got no golf this weekend, so my golf bon3r is low.

 

Filled the sock after watching masters and playing this week.

 

I am hitting Waverly range, though. I'm actually working on minor swing tweaks. I'm trying to get the shoulders to work on a better line while at the same time work on eliminating the early extension. I've watched some youTubes on the early extension. I like Monte's "zipper away" drill. It's a little extreme for me in it's purest form, but the swing thought was leading to some pretty nice contact.
