I might hit one 300 once a year, downhill, downwind, on firm fairways. I think my average carry would probably be a hair below 250. On course, probably carrying between 240 and 255 or so. It's hard to get 300 yards out of that kind of carry.

 

Agreed. I may occasionally get one to 300 but that's a far cry from a guy that actually *hits* it 300 (PQ). I gave up on Game Golf but I think it had my average total at 262 over a pretty high # of shots. That's about right, I think my average carry is around 240 or so. Once or twice a round if I catch a good one I'll GPS it and my great drives will tick over 270.

So I google mapped my drive on #10...yeah, it was 277 meters, aka 302 yards...lol. Carry would have been probably 240ish tbh, and I got a ton of roll since it was a knuckle ball. I grossly overestimated, but I'm ok with that. Anything is better than 190 yards carry, 175 yards total with 11,000 rpm of backspin on my drives :)

On some of the holes out there the white tee placement changes the whole character of the hole.

9 and 18 are the bigger issues.

 

9, the fairway runs across and you need to go left/right or over this big tree. They put the whites at the top of the fairway, so it's basically a straight, downhill, 450 yard par 5.

 

18, they CAN put the whites so far up that to carry the house is like 180. Again, no decision point to cover it, go left, or go right.

 

I think on 16, you're basically so far up that the big fw bunker is out of play.

GTM: I'm neutral. Not rooting for him, but not rooting against him either.

 

There's a golf.com podcast out there from a few weeks ago with Poulter being interviewed by Shipnuck. It was pretty boring. It sounds like Poulter has gotten so beat up by the media/fans that he has given up on doing anything interesting. He deflected every interesting question by saying that he was going to get in trouble if he answered. I like fiery Poulter as a person I love to hate. Neutral Poulter is just a boring guy who plays below average golf.

There's a guy at Hobbits I played with once or twice. Saw him in the staging area and he was saying to his friend about me, "this guy hits it 300".

 

I mean, not even close, on any hole I played with him. He probably thinks HE hits it 250 and I was 50 yards past him all day.

GTM: Not sure. If he fails this week, he's gone. Rides off into the Euro sunset and only pesters on Twitter and some Euro tour events. If he makes it, then we could have a full season rooting against him, and then he rides off into the sunset when he fails to get his card in October.

I can shoot 95 from any tee. I'll play from the whites with Domes to stay out of City's and Rat's way.

What's the stroke difference between the tees Eagle? 3? Kind of intriguing solely from the strokes perspective. Worth getting an extra stroke on the mid-cap holes?

 

I'm playing with endless, JJ, and DT in the morning, so I imagine they will all play the blues. Maybe I'll play blues in the morning, then whites in the second 18. Especially if I make mediocre scores from the blues on those extra few holes that get strokes. If I make all net bird on those holes and that will disappear, that's another story.
