Tex. Two years ago (three?), we all got personalized Cap Cup towels from Callaway that had each of our names embroidered on them. I'm not saying your captaincy will be a failure if we don't get personal embroidered Callway microfiber towers or anything. But I am saying that we got some before you were captain. There's a high swag bar here.

I'll be donating something for a prize

The prize is a Free 45 minute presentation titled "Break Through YOUR Ceiling: How You Can Make Jailbreak Technology Work For YOU To Achieve Golf Swing Independence"

Redeemable immediately upon receipt in the Compass Pointe multi-purpose room. Free soda.

.....

Joke (in case of ambiguity)

anyone have all-time individual Cap Cup records still?

I think you should go ahead and post your record. Make sure to include the number of times you personally have raised the Capitol Cup in victory. ;)

GTT:

Tomorrow's format is best ball with yourself.

1) What's the winning score, net?

2) What's the winning score, gross?

3) Is there a bogey-free round, net?

We have 24 people. Will the NET winner come from the lowest 12 (2.1 - 8.1), or the highest 12 handicap group (9.1-15.8)?

1. -12

2. +4

3. No, not a consecutive 18

4. Lowest group, someone who chose to move back to the Blue tees and is getting 3 bonus strokes.

Probably too low on #1, too high on #2. But we'll see.

I think DT, Eagle, or I, all getting 10 tomorrow, have a really good shot at low net. Anyone else that could play well and shoot 75-78 with 10 off of that, would be tough.

I haven't looked at everyone, but if someone like Sully is getting 16, he could shoot 80 and walk away with a 64

Net should be interesting for sure

Need some local knowledge from you city folks...

Am I better off coming up 495 to 270, 495 to 32 to 70, or 301 to 97 to 695 to 70?

Either way I know it's going to be at least a 2 hour trip, I am mainly trying to figure out which route has less of a chance I will get stuck in a parking lot and have it turn into a 3 hour trip.

By "bogey free round", I mean. . .for the tournament.

Best-ball net from 36 holes.

Also, there's no such thing as "bonus strokes". Your strokes are your strokes.

You're stroking the thing fairly. It's not a bonus. I don't know how they'll have it set up tomorrow, but they often set the whites up so that the teeth are totally taken out of some of the holes. On 13, they put you across the road. On 9, you're just looking right down the fairway.

I'm going to walk this back a little.

We're treating the white tees as the "baseline" so a 0-differential round will come in at 69.

So, yes, we're basically starting at -3 and going from there. In a sense, it's a bonus 3 shots, but it's not a bonus to play one tee vs. another, which was really my point.

Following up on the stroke allocation...

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like we've been missing this or this is just new this time.

When I normally play- I just plug in my index with slope on USGA calc and get my CH... I've never done stroke allocation as well

What if everyone decides to move back to the blues to get the '"extra" strokes? Then that would become the new baseline and the 3 strokes would go away?

Sneek- Kent ain't moving back. Neither is Domes.

JJ- it only matters in a medal play competition where people are playing from different tees. I think. Hell, I've been so wrong on this.

City- no bogey-free NET best-ball "rounds" but it would be awesome if there are a few that happen.

I don't know where 3 extra strokes comes from... for me my course handicap at Whiskey:

9 from whites

10 from blues

Never played the course so maybe the blues would be better or worse.

Find out when I get there.

You are SO WRONG fabb about the -7. Much closer to -12. Probably even lower than that.

Winning score will come from the highest handicap group. They should actually probably be at 90%.

edit : someone might be -7 on ONE round.

AFAIK, no one is getting 2 strokes on any hole, but we have 24 golfers. That's a pretty big field. It only takes one. Guys in that 18 range are just going to be wiping doubles off the card. Low cappers aren't able to improve their "bad holes" by playing best ball as much.

Also, it's very important here that there's no "max score" on any hole.

Just for shiggles, I looked at two recent rounds at Hobbits. One where I shot 83 (with two triples) and one where I shot 79, so one round a little above my course handicap and one round a little below it. So, these are good scores, but niether one is from the one round where I played really well.

My gross hole scores would have been.

4-4-4-4-3-4-5-3-4=35

6-3-4-4-5-5-3-3-5=38

73 (with a double and a single)

NET (based on course handicap of 6) :

3-4-3-4-3-4-5-3-3=32

5-3-4-3-4-5-3-3-5=35

(67, with a bogey)

If we were playing where the baseline was "white", and I got 5 additional strokes to be an 11, I would have been

NET :

3-3-3-3-3-4-4-3-3=29

5-3-4-3-4-4-2-3-4=32

(61, -11, still with a net bogey)

That's just from, basically, shooting my handicap, so if someone goes and does they for 2 rounds, they're should get into that range. Yes, it's difficult to shoot your handicap for 2 straight rounds, but we have 24 guys giving it a shot.
