My season, much like my scoring, has been a complete bust. Not only do I play much less, my driver has abandoned me. We got out at Silver Lakes yesterday afternoon and it was a complete disaster. I'm heading to Cog right now to hit the range - playing White Eagle tomorrow morning and don't want to embarrass myself.

Stan last time I scored, Reagan was president.

Be careful with that way ward driver. You never know whose house you're hitting.
I'm a little slow today - recovering from last night's after golf activities - are you trying to tell me something??? ;)
With a wayward drive you could be in my backyard

As far as scoring, I'll defer to Danielle.

Bull Valley looks gorgeous. I was wondering why I'd never heard of it before, then I realized it's private. :(

There you go dragging me down with you again. I'm sure things will turn up for you eventually.

State of my game? Consistency is killing me. My best 9-hole scores this year when playing 18:

49-38
41-51
46-41
39-47
47-40

After a 15 year layoff, last year was the first full summer playing golf. I need a repeatable swing. On any given day I don't know how well I'm going to strike the ball. Taking my first ever lesson from a professional next week. My goal is a single digit handicap.

Just been on the range a lot the last week to figure out a few things, headed to MIch next week, looks like we have 126 holes of golf on the schedule, I may up that by playing Monday morning before we leave and maybe another round Friday if I'm not burnt out by then...

celebrating my 45th birthday tomorrow with a round of golf with my wife at my favorite place on earth, Lawsonia Links. Last year's birthday round included a little something something in the cart on a secluded tee box that you usually don't get from your cart partner. Hoping that's a regular thing for birthday rounds. :birthday::censored2:

Saturday will be at Mascoutin and then Sunday back to Lawsonia most likely.

Survived White Eagle without breaking any windows, running out of balls, or killing/injuring anybody. Played Red/White combo from blues. Damn, that's a tight course. Obviously not a fan of all the houses and water on what seemed like every hole, but overall had a great time. Did hit a house on Red's second hole, wound up losing probably 4-5 balls, and managed a mediocre 82. The course was in great shape and the greens ran super fast and true. Only gripe were the bunkers - for crying out loud put some freaking sand in them!

Terrible facility far south south burbs- 45 holes. They have a golf dome and an enormous practice facility's as well. Not an incredibly terrible design just god awful owners, management, and conditioning. It has been known down south forever as Green Garbage up until a few years ago when some Greeks bought it and ran it further into the ground- now it's Greek Garbage.

Argonne, its in unincorporated Frankfort.

Lol. I go to the dome in the winter. But never played any of the courses. Ive got a free greens fee voucher so I figured what the heck. So if it sucks, I won't feel too bad. I'll report back what I find.

Played Hickory Hills 2 or 3 weeks ago and the greens were pretty fast I thought. Not Blackwolf run fast but fast. Not a very well run course and poorly conditioned but an interesting layout with lots of elevation changes for a Chicago area course

I have never played Hickory Hills, but couple of my friends did few years back when they were starting out and that's what they said. Things might have improved, but for me personally it ranks right up there close to Country Lakes in Naperville.

Just got back from Green Garden. It wasn't great but wasn't bad. Thr conditions were generally good. The fairways were fine and the greens were in good shape. Medium Fast but soft if that makes sense. There were a few spots where it looked like their equipment tracked up the grass. The course design was ok. Bunkers were all soft sand except one I landed in on 18 which was like concrete. My buddys dad played there years ago and he mentioned that it looked better than he remembered. I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10.

I got a look at their 9 hole emerald course. Its a links course that looked real pretty. I might have to give it a shot.

Ok, just finished at Schaumburg. Tournament-Baer. Course is in great shape and the greens are back. They are a tad on the slow side but very puttable.
Im guessing they left the greens slightly longer due to the amount of play they were expecting to get out there this weekend. Nonetheless, the fairways were perfect and the course is just super green. All the rain doesnt hurt either.
Got paired up with 3 older Japanese businessmen and they were fun as hell to play with. Finished in 4.25 hrs. Not too shabby.

I played Redtail for the first time today. It's a very nice prairie style course with rolling terrain, a large number of trees for a prairie style course, and lots of wetlands. It reminds me a bit of Prairie Bluff and Prarie Landing. I paid $37 with cart on a holiday weekend, which has got to be a mistake.

The course was in fine shape. The greens were fast, but not crazy. The bunkers could use a bit more sand, but they were still playable.

Pace of play was 4:30, which isn't unexpected for a holiday round.

I had a great front nine, as the driver was working right, but I threw away a few shots on the back due to the driver going left. Overall it was a very good round.

I'd say the course is a 2nd tier course. It's quite nice, but below the standards of the best in the area. I'd certainly play it again if I were in the area. The clubhouse and range are a bit dumpy, but serviceable.

Adam and I played Medinah #1 today which was the first time since the redesign. Awesome conditions, extremely challenging pin positions with greens rolling around 11-12 but true. PGA rough.

Adam played lights out on the front. Through 16 I didn't suck.

We both struggled on 17. We both caressed double digits.
Well that doesn't suck! And on one of the most perfect days of the year to boot. Heard great things about course 1.

Tom Doak and Renaissance Golf did an amazing job on course #1 at Medinah! Huge fan of some of the green complexes! Glad you guys had a nice day to enjoy it!

Thanks App. The setup was with a lot of pins on the edges and with the sloping, some were really difficult to get at.

The head pro, Marty DeAngelo played Little League baseball for me about 40 years ago. Caught up with him for a bit which was awesome. Absent 17, it was a perfect day.

I started the morning at Golf Club of Illinois. I was lucky to join a group with a regular tee time, and got out early. We finished in 3 hours, and had a great time. This was my first visit to the course, and I thought it was an excellent prairie style course. I thought Redtail was more scenic, but GCI was a little more challenging due to the greens. I'd certainly play it again if I was in the area.

The rough was nasty, and I stumbled home after missing too many fairways on the back.

I just finished an afternoon round at Crystal Woods. This was my favorite of the three played this weekend. CW is a rolling parkland style course, with some fun greens. Once again I was surprised at the quick pace of play, finishing in 3:30. Not too shabby for a holiday weekend.

I played much better in the afternoon. Being a shorter course, I was able to find the fairway with a three wood on many holes.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable day on two nice courses with near perfect weather.

Between rounds I stopped at Dick's Sporting Goods, and put some new Golf Pride MCC Plus 4 grips on my irons. Boy, it was just what the doctor ordered to help eliminate the hooks. If your miss is left, I'd highly recommend them.
