I have issues. I also have a Nike Vapor Flex on the way. So now I have 4 drivers in the mix. This should be interesting.

Looking back over the last year I have lowered my handicap by 4 strokes and I am actually struggling with ball striking and driving this year. I would say this time last year I was a better driver of the ball and striker with my irons. I was longer off the tee last year too. With the weird injury to my back and one too many burritos, my speed has really slowed down. Could be just getting older too. My short game has improved tremendously this year. Despite the fact I am hitting it pretty bad things are starting to come around with my swing change. Once I get the swing dialed in I expect nothing but career low rounds and venture into the scratch / + handicap realm. I am about 90% dialed in setup wise and want to get the best out of my driver which has been my weakness. I am extremely low launch with moderate to high spin. I have a few different combo's to try and help maximize my distance. Combo's I am trying these next few weeks:

Vapor Oven Pro - Fujikura Tour Spec 63x tipped 1"
TW Vapor Speed - Diamana Whiteboard 73x tipped 1"
R15 TP set at 9.5 set +2* - Fujikura 661 x stock
Vapor Flex set at 12* - Diamana Blue Board 63x tipped 1"

Nope that why the factory shaft had a plug. You can get around it though. Just takes some additional work. Nothing major.
How did you get around the hosel plug issue in the end Cota? Was the factory plug removable/reusable from the original shaft?

I've got a limited 3wd head en route and a whiteboard that is ear marked for it so if there's something I can/should get ahead of time to solve the problem, would be great to know :)
I can say the same thing about the driver. I've had roughly four years of driving the ball well (a few bad rounds but not many) only to see it vanish. I have no idea if driver is going to stay in play when I swing it right now.

Can't wait to see the Trackman results.
I'm curious to see my angle of attack and path. Been working on path lately and hopefully it's improved. Feels like it has

Might be able to save it and re use. I didn't know it had one. I had a buddy send it to his friend to finish it for me. I didn't want to screw it up and didn't have what was needed to finish it

I liked the AB just feels really muted. Its a little longer than the Vapor Speed LTD

Cant wait for trackman data. I take it back. I hit some bombs with the Vapor Flex. Diamana BB 63 x is in it. Might have a winner.

lol, score still looks good though. And, I'm sure playing golf with the kid is even better.

Looking forward to those results, curious as to which club wins. Just out of curiosity, did you ever hit the sldr 3wood? If so, how did it compare to the AB?

Never have hit it personally. Funny you mentioned that because one of the guys in the group yesterday in the U.S. Am qualifying had the SLDR mini driver in his bag as his 3 wood. Driver for driver my buddy was always 10 yards longer. But every time the guy hit his mini driver 3 wood he was about 20 yards short with the 3 wood. So the mini driver was about 10 yards shorter than his driver. Definitely longer than the AB. I never hit the SLDR 3 wood because I always loved my VR Pro Ltd. Didn't have a reason to look elsewhere and actually regret looking elsewhere. Glad I didn't get rid of it. It's on my desk staring at me just waiting for another reshaft lol

Good to hear! A few days ago I was looking at the SLDR mini and the AB, both 12* TP, different shafts of course. The AB mini with a rogue silver 110msi, and the SLDR had the TS 7.3, both stiff. Just couldn't decide between the two when hitting in the bay, which is why I usually avoid them, I tend to use them just to see how the shaft feels when swinging the club. It's a driver replacement for me, so strictly tee use. I ended up going with the SLDR. I hit about 10 balls with it the other day at the range before heading into the office, and it felt very point and shoot, which I like. Just need to get in a longer session. That being said, the AB mini still has me wondering, and it's probably more to do with the shaft than the actual head. I haven't seen any head to head comparisons between the two, just wondering how they'd stack up against each other. It's probably splitting hairs. Yeah, the VR Pro Ltd. is a great club, simply can't go wrong with it. I definitely wouldn't sell it, even if you don't reshaft. It's still perfect for the desk. lol It's like me having a single rotor from my old rotary engine sitting on my desk.. just a thing of beauty.

weirdest thing happened on the Trackman today. When swinging the R15 it couldn't capture data on it and when it did (rarely) my swing speed was showing 117-119 mph and then it wouldn't complete the rest of the data, ball speed, path ect. It was an indoor facility. When I would switch to the Vapor Flex swing speed dropped to 112-113 but had huge smash factors and ball speed and had no problem picking up data.

R15 has Speeder Evolution 661 tipped 1" in it
Vapor Flex has a Diamana Blue Board 63x untipped in it

Can anyone explain why it wouldn't pick up the R15 data and when it did the swing speed was way higher?

I am waiting for the data to be organized (hit so many drivers) and should have it tomorrow. So far it seems its the Flex by numbers alone, but the fact I have a much higher swing speed with the R15 vs the Flex has me wondering if maybe the shaft is the difference? What if I throw a 661 in the Flex?

review will come after the data comes. Was a pretty damn cool day though!

It's the black head on the R15.

I talked to my friend at the Oven and he stated that the Vapor heads don't pick up swing speed too well on the trackman. I heard about this before I think from Pure. So it might just come down to ball speed and on course performance. It's just weird that trackman wouldn't even pick up the r15 very well. I would say 1 in 10 swings. But the swing speed difference should be taken with a grain of salt is what I was just told by the Oven as far as the Vapor heads are concerned. Can't wait to see the reported data

I forgot to mention that I also did a 3D Advance Motion Measurement session. There are only 3 locations in California with this type of technology. They will be compiling a report for me. Long story short I am at or above average PGA Tour who has been tested. I learned a lot about my swing with this session. Further confirmation that most of my issues are in my head. I have to learn to except who I am as a golfer. Sure I don't do things perfectly. But I need to learn to love "my golf swing" The information will be broken down for me and sent along with my report hopefully tomorrow. Might make a thread on this... I have video and pictures too

From their website:

The AMM 3D-Golf Electromagnetic System is a real-time, six-degree-of-freedom (6DOF) motion capture system that measures and analyzes the biomechanics of the golf swing. It uses the Polhemus Liberty system high speed electromagnetic sensors; eight times faster than standard video; to track the motion of each body segment and the club; plus the powerful TPI 3D golf biomechanics software to analyze the results. During setup, an accurate alignment procedure aligns each sensor to the anatomy of its respective body segment producing dynamic values specific to that golfer’s body.
Once the swing motion is captured it can be viewed and animated from any angle even from under the floor! This allows the instructor and golfer to review the swing in an even more comprehensive way than video can do.
Flexible screen layouts can be displayed within seconds after each swing allowing the expert to immediately review the animation and biomechanical values. These values can be compared to the supplied PGA, LPGA and Champions’ Tour databases and a complete table of all parameters at the key points in the swing highlights whether the golfer is in or out of range at each point; this feature is great for pinpointing specific issues quickly. We can also create a database from the golfer’s own swings; allowing us to implement swing changes and see if you in fact did change the things you were intending to.

so funny
I just met w the Pro I see for lessons this week and he confirmed the same thing
usually my "lesson" is more of a chit chat about my last rounds, and talking about how I can get lower and start breaking par
cause it isn't a physical inability to score anymore
learning to accept what I brought to the course that day, working with it, and making better decisions
its this and then he has me hit certain shots, from different spots/lies, then we fart around w this short game drill/game he does for 20 mins and he always kicks my a$$ !!!LOL

SO true!

I know that my physical ability does not drastically change from day to day, but there is a direct correlation between how mentally "chill" I am and how well I score. I can focus, though it takes no effort. I have no swing thought; it just happens. If I am in the opposite state of mind, scores are higher.

I need to work more on the mental side of the game, but I think that must happen more off the course, right?
