weirdest thing happened on the Trackman today. When swinging the R15 it couldn't capture data on it and when it did (rarely) my swing speed was showing 117-119 mph and then it wouldn't complete the rest of the data, ball speed, path ect. It was an indoor facility. When I would switch to the Vapor Flex swing speed dropped to 112-113 but had huge smash factors and ball speed and had no problem picking up data.

R15 has Speeder Evolution 661 tipped 1" in it
Vapor Flex has a Diamana Blue Board 63x untipped in it

Can anyone explain why it wouldn't pick up the R15 data and when it did the swing speed was way higher?

I am waiting for the data to be organized (hit so many drivers) and should have it tomorrow. So far it seems its the Flex by numbers alone, but the fact I have a much higher swing speed with the R15 vs the Flex has me wondering if maybe the shaft is the difference? What if I throw a 661 in the Flex?

review will come after the data comes. Was a pretty damn cool day though!

Good deal!! And, the whole AMM 3D, must have been a blast. Needless to say, It'll be interesting to see what the data says. How long was your session?

Further confirmation that most of my issues are in my head. I have to learn to except who I am as a golfer. Sure I don't do things perfectly. But I need to learn to love "my golf swing"
so funny
I just met w the Pro I see for lessons this week and he confirmed the same thing
usually my "lesson" is more of a chit chat about my last rounds, and talking about how I can get lower and start breaking par
cause it isn't a physical inability to score anymore
learning to accept what I brought to the course that day, working with it, and making better decisions
its this and then he has me hit certain shots, from different spots/lies, then we fart around w this short game drill/game he does for 20 mins and he always kicks my a$$ !!!LOL
It's like I keep looking for why I can't vs this is how I do it so watch me!

SO true!

I know that my physical ability does not drastically change from day to day, but there is a direct correlation between how mentally "chill" I am and how well I score. I can focus, though it takes no effort. I have no swing thought; it just happens. If I am in the opposite state of mind, scores are higher.

I need to work more on the mental side of the game, but I think that must happen more off the course, right?
I know what you mean. Like for instance I was playing 9 holes with my son and was -4 through 7 then realized that I was -4 and went bogey bogey. Just about accepting

Some screen shots from the TPI Advance Motion Measurement

What they did is they hooked me up to a monitor to take measurements of everything across the board and compared with with PGA tour average. I think something like this is great for getting a better understanding of what you do great and what you can improve on. For instance I always thought I could be a little more flexible when in fact my hip turn to shoulder turn ratio was considered high for PGA tour averages. I also found out they few things I need to work on. I kind of knew what I needed to improve on but this helped confirmed what I thought about my swing. For example I slide into the ball way too much. I also lean in towards to ball on my back swing and deloft in through impact. Minor adjustments that are hard to catch with the naked eye. So much information its also easy to get "too technical" and play golf swing vs play golf. I am trying to find that fine line between Bio Mechanics and feel. Also to make sure I keep doing things in my swing that "work for me" and not trying to adjust those things based off of what is the "perfect" golf swing.

Does it sound or feel any different than the 915F? I know it's a smaller head, right?

I would say the feel is based off the shaft. I have hit it indoors (915F) it had the Rogue in it and it felt great.

Trackman Data:

After testing the 4 different drivers I really had the R15 in the back of my mind because of the dispersion. The dispersion went in the order:

R15
Vapor Flex
TW Prototype
Oven Vapor Pro

which was a little shocking to me because I thought the Oven Vapor was the one to beat. Ball speeds went in this order: These are the HIGH's

TW Prototype @ 173mph (a bunch over 170)
Vapor Flex @ 172mph (a few over 170)
R15 TP @171 mph (consistently 167-168)
Oven Vapor Pro @ 168mph (most are in the 165-167 range)

Spin went in this order

R15TP @ 2706 average
TW Proto @ 3106
Vapor Flex @ 3149
Oven Vapor Pro @ 3290

studying all the data and talking with my fitter at the Oven we both agreed that the shaft doesn't quite fit me optimally anymore. Makes sense because when I was fitted it was 30* and I was in a bunch of layers hitting drivers. Swing speed was 110mph then and now I am seeing highs of 118mph on the trackman recently but most in the 113-114 mph range. Just goes to show how much a shaft can make a difference. I immediately picked up a few yards playing with the Flex at least a good 10 yards. So I decided to part with the Oven Vapor. Sad to see it go. I have some great memories attached to that thing but I actually like the look of the TW and the Flex model as of late. The r15 is very consistent, and could possibly be as long but consistently the ball speed are lower than the Flex and the TW.

So here is the deal. The TW actually produced the highest average ball speeds but the dispersion is spread out. The flex has tighter dispersion but lower ball speeds of the TW. This is how they are equipped:

Vapor Flex set at 11.5R with Diamana Blueboard 63x
Vapor TW Prototype with Diamana Whiteboard 73 x tipped 1"

I would think it would be the other way around as far as dispersion. Maybe I just need to get used to hitting the TW more? Right now I am leaning more towards the Flex for consistency but the ball speeds I am getting on the TW has me thinking maybe it just needs more time in the bag. Lastly...maybe I throw a whiteboard in the Flex and see what it does.

Vapor Flex vs TW Prototype...To be continued

Hahah no worries. It was a Fujikura Tour Spec tipped 1". I honestly probably should have swapped something else in it but after hitting the TW driver I really liked the look of the head. I also liked the look of the flex head. When I was there at the Oven, I was getting the same numbers with a whiteboard (original) in it. So I figured it should be similar to the WB. I've come to the conclusion that the WB holds up better at higher speeds. I didn't like looking down at the Pro head anymore after a few rounds with the TW and the Flex. Plus the ho in me screamed time to move on! Lol

Understand completely. At 11.5 R and higher, the Pro looks a little closed to me, which I can't stand. When I set the TW down, it looks perfect. I want to give the TW a go, but just not in the cards for me right now.

It doesn't help that everything looks closed to me. Maybe it's because I'm right eye dominant as a right handed golfer. Not sure but I totally agree

Lol I hit the 125 at the Oven. Got the worst numbers out of it. Save that one for the big hitters. I'm just a little guy trying to get a few more yards. :)

Played today with only 14 clubs lol. I am really starting to like the TW Prototype Speed driver. I have it shafted with a WB 73 x tipped 1". I gave it more thought because of the ball speeds I was seeing with it. 171-174mph compared to the Flex at 169-173. I am on the hunt for a another WB that I can tip to put them head to head. I am getting used to the look and hit a handful of drives today around 320. I haven't been in that realm in a while. I have also been working on my launch angle as I was delivering the club -2 on the trackman. Working on getting a +2 or so AoA. Some other good news is I am really getting used to the look of the Vapor LTD Speed 3 wood. I carry it 250 which is a decent range for me because the next club down is my 915HD 3 hybrid which is a 230-235 club. Going to weaken the lofts on my RSI's a bit this week if I can. I like even number yardages. I bought them on BST and the seller said they were standard lofts, but these things are actually strong 2* which is okay to deal with in the short irons but a different story in the long irons. Pretty satisfied with my bag but I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE 716 AP2s TO COME OUT!!!!!!!!! I still think the 714 Ap2s are the best iron out, with the RSi TPs a close 2nd. Not close enough for me to switch back to the Ap2s until the 716 arrives.

Bought a tour issue Aldila Rogue 110msi black ala Jordan Speith. Can't wait to put this in the Flex vs the TW. Trackman session with both and determine the next driver in the bag.

Thanks! I was thinking the 125 is still a little too stout so I really think the 110 black will work out well. We will see
