Looks to me like the finish is sort of "non-peelable" if you know what I mean. Doesn't look like a tin-foil coating to me.

Looks like the scratches and just the wearing of the iron is similar to older PING finishes.

Just speculating here, but hoping..

So i-e is a 431ss progressive pocket cavity with tungsten toe weight.

G-max is 17-4ss is a dated TM iron.

Unless I'm missing something and the above is true, Ping is becoming more generic (i.e. same offering as others). And a troubling trend if the generic-ization is due to reduced manufacturing costs and increased margins for Ping at the expense of it's customers.

I think the circle in the gmax is a reference to the eye2, not any tm design (the better argument is that the TM design was cashing on the look of the eye2). at this point, most GI clubs are generic to some degree, there's not much new design wise in irons. i just wish OEMs would get more generic and simply the looks of clubs.

These photos do look better. the silver on the badging blends in better than in the stock photos.

Aesthetically, I'm glad I got my i25s while they are still available. Not a fan of blue highlights, except old-school Mizuno irons.
