Can anyone give a direct comparaison between the ei1 and the s55. Getting fit this week. Would love to hear your thougt?
i's are longer, more forgiving, and feel similar. They are definitely tougher to work, though.

Got 9 holes in with mine 4-u project x 6.0 and although played a short course got to hit 4,5,8,9,u irons and great turf interaction and point and shoot, I was putting and driving and chipping well for once and shot 2 over. Felt incredible coming from s55 with kbs.
When did you receive your irons? I'm still waiting on my PX 6.0 4-PW that I ordered (and paid for!) back on July 18th, and all I've heard is "by the end of the month."
Bought mine at the beginning of August from someone who preordered I think when you could, I went thru the fitting and matched what he had.

Just got back from getting fitted/buying 3-U Red dot Px 6.0 standard length.

It was a toss up between the CFS X or PX 6.0. We decided on the PX because the dispersion was better and the CFS were on the verge of ballooning.

Now just sit back and wait... :)

Just got done testing the PING IE1 vs my current gamers Callaway XR PRO. The difference in yardage was much smaller than I would have ever thought. At most I was seeing two yards more from the XR PRO. I hit ten shots with each seven iron.

I was seeing nearly identical ball speed the only difference was I was seeing a bit more height from the Ping and better dispersion. Nine of the ten shots I hit with the ping carried between 179-182 while the Callaway was 174-186. Order a set 3-PW.

They're in at Drummond golf in Australia. $200 an iron. Wooow. That's seriously out there. Last set of irons I bought was the tm tour preferreds 4-Pw at around $900. 4-Uw is still going to come out at over $1500. That's nuts!!
That exchange rate is kicking your backside lately.

14 Pings. Blueprints are incredibly good. Fetch is the most underrated putter on the market. Don't @ me.

Yup....here in Canada too. 4-UW + a glide is over $1500 CAD$ before 12.5% tax. That's a lot of loonies and twoonies.....oh well.......someone on wrx will get sick of em after a few rounds and put a set of green dot px 6.0's on the BST soon..... :fishing1:

I just went through the full Ping fitting and ended up with the CFS Stiff. I tried the Modus 105, CFS Stiff, PX 6.0, KBS Tour stiff, and DG S300.

It was a toss up between the PX 6.0 and CFS Stiff, but I preferred the feel of the CFS. And they had them in stock...so I bought them!

I have also gone from a yellow dot to blue dot over 3 years of playing the game.

I've messed around with putting KBS Tour V stiffs in my S55's and have them MOI-balanced. I'll either BST them or just put the old CFS shafts back in them.

I'm psyched to give the iE1's a try on the course!

I am starting to wonder if I need to play these. I play a players CB (Cobra S3 pro) and love the look, but wonder if these would be better. I think a crap swing is a crap swing, and no club will help that.

Don
That just seems ridiculous. It's not even offered online at the big box stores. This isn't after a month or two of unprecedented interest, and I find it hard to grasp they run out of a "stock" shaft before they even start really.

For the numbers nerds (like me); I asked on the forums of the new Maltby site about the iE1s. Here's what they measured:

"The preliminary numbers on the Ping I E1 iron are .832 vertical cg, C-Dim 1.357, RCOG .463, MOI 14.2650"

The final MPF number is 570 pts.

The MOI is very impressive for a compact iron.

Just in case some of you are interested.

Cheers.

I also saw the GMAX irons had a MPF of like 940. Yowza.

As far as the practical implications, Im still torn. The analytical side of me WANTS the ie1 to have a higher MPF than the S series and also the AP2 and similar irons to reconcile what I feel when I hit them and the i25, i20, etc. The i series feels and seems way more forgiving on the monitor but the MPF says otherwise.

MPF is questionable. Look at MOI, that will tell you how much stability the club will have on off center strikes. C dimension tells you how long the blade length is.
Thanks for posting that. Not much difference from i25 really. Looks like they were able to move the CG a touch farther back which raised the MOI slightly.

They seem to be running short on several shafts lately. When I ordered wedges with Modus 130, had to wait like 5-6 weeks.
I really wonder if they thought people were going to settle for the CFS more than the others?

Yeah, not huge differences from the i25. I guess there's only so much they can do in the space available.

Still, a couple points up on MOI from my current irons isn't too bad. Especially considering the slimmer package.
