[color=#000000]Phil Mickelson's career is nothing short of a success. He now has 42 PGA TOUR wins and five major championships on his resume. After Mickelson's first win at The Open Championship on Sunday, he said, "I'm putting better than I ever have in my life." Coming into The Open Championship, Mickelson felt that he found the secret to good putting, a secret that he was not willing to share.[/color]
[color=#000000]On the 18th hole, Mickelson watched his final putt roll into the bottom of the cup at Muirfield, and it was then that Mickelson knew what he had just done. At Muirfield, Mickelson played some of the best golf of his career, which helped him earn the coveted Claret Jug. The Hall of Famer birdied four of the last six holes and was the only player to finish under par (3 under) at The Open.[/color]
[color=#000000]At the age of 43 and with 20-plus years of career golf, the thought of winning the Claret Jug that was once a dream is now a reality for Mickelson. After Mickelson's victory, he said "this is just an amazing feeling winning this great championship. And to play probably the best round of my career and hit some of the best shots that I've ever hit. Certainly putt better than I've ever putted. I needed to show up and play some of my best golf. Forgot to add that he had to tinker for years because his putting STUNK..... but it looks as if he has made real progression. I still wouldn't want my money on him over a 6 footer though....

[/quote]It's not the Claw model. Looks more like one of SS's proto models based on the Tiger Shark design (sister company). I have a Claw model on one of my backups, and have a Tiger Shark on another backup, and the Tiger Shark has a thicker, more substantial profile. I actually use a SS Flatso 1.4 on my main/gamer putter.

He can tinker all he wants, but until he stops forward pressing so much he's not going to putt well. Wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't make it past this week either. He played his best when he first sought out Butch H and dialed back on his crazy risk taking style and learned to putt better with Stockton - but that's old news and he seems to have gotten away from that winning formula. Too bad as most people would love to root for him in the winners circle. Putter is nice looking except for the tape though.

Phil's game has always been about feel.
It's just that after 23 years, he still plays with equipment you can't get.

A few weeks ago in the Equipment section of [i][u]Golf World[/u], [/i]E. Michael Johnson wrote about the equipment of both Phil Mickelson (putter) and Brian (two aces) Harman (Hybrid).

Dizz was my first name before I was in the golf business... I changed it to JW when I was really heavily into the golf business and now that I am not I asked to go back to Dizz and they made it Dizz2. I wish it wasn't 2 but I don't think they will let me... I am about to change it again... Lol.

He wanted to add a lot of weight to the end of the club, with the ability to easily tweak the amount -- clearly a job for lead tape and where else can he place it except around the shaft? Not so bizarre in my book (says the guy with lead tape wrapped around his driver shaft).
