Starshot Anser with light blue paint. 70*/3*/35" with light blue paintfill.

Great, thanks, that starshot Anser just stimulates all kinds of impure thoughts in my mind...

Starshot finish compared to the Milled Anser.

This frustrates me. I was torn between the Anser 1 and 2. I wanted an Anser 1 with the sound slot but with starshot finish and a tri-sole. Since none of the pictures had the Anser 1 with the Tri-Sole, I went with the Anser 2 and paid to have the sound slot cut (I left the finish as-is).

Now, what do we see? The Anser 1 has a tri-sole which was never shown until now.

Usually PING has their act together but this one really makes me mad.

Personally, I haven't figured out the fascination with the tri-sole. From a playability perspective, it makes zero difference, right?

Performance wise, it makes no difference. Its more of a personal preference.

Patience? Perhaps that is the answer. I know we are on WRX and in today's society it appears to be a long lost art but just a thought :-)

Hmmmm, Anser 2 w/ sound slot? Now this sounds like the perfect putter to me.

I don't think any one of us looked hard enough at the Anser pics from the PGA show.

See below from Tuesday Part 5 from the show, which is actually one of the few with the sole of the Anser. Might be the only show of the sole of the Anser, as far as I can tell. You can faintly see (given big enough of a monitor with high enough resolution) the tri-sole of the Anser. My interest was solely (haha!) in the Anser 2, so I never thought to look at the Anser.

That being said, if you look at the product page on the Ping site, you cannot tell that the Anser has a tri-sole.

Like I posted earlier in the thread, the stock pictures on the Ping site do a disservice to how good these putters look, esp when looking at the WRX staff photos from the PGA show.

Just picked up my Anser 2. I've been using my old Scotty AOP Newport 2 which is great for my light grip pressure. I was hoping the Anser 2 would be somewhat like the old weights from the sixties. Mine seems to be 340gm just from rolling it next to the Karsten TR which is 340gm. Too bad, I was looking for that light weight. I guess I could just reorder with a longer length and cut it down, but I just didn't want to do that. However........

The feel is fantastic! Only hit for about 5 minutes with new balls, but wow! This could be a great product for Ping. Not reinventing the wheel, but certainly making it better.

The Anser 2 in the stock finish is a fine looking piece. On the putting mat, it feels nice and solid with a very subtle click. Not mushy like the previous TR offerings, and not completely clicky like the older stainless putters. Finish appears to be of good quality too.

Head cover looks good but minor gripe is that they designed it so that the velcro doesn't run all the way up and the heel of the putter is partially exposed. Not that it'll get damaged, but it's a psychological thing for me, as if the cover is too small for the head. I find myself trying to pull it over to completely close the heel portion of the cover.

I'm not digging the head cover either. It looks great but functionally I'd prefer a magnetic closure. Velcro never ends well in my experience.

I was questioning getting the starshot finish on the Anser 2, but these pics look really good. The sight line is still a prob though... I will wait to see the Anser 2 before any rash decisions.

Love the the look of the squared off toe on both models though. For the price, none of the competition can touch these things.

Has anybody compared these (in terms of feel and performance) to the Anser Milled line?

Only carpet rolled, but I find the sound to be better on the 66. I aways thought the milled line lacked sound and feel and played dead in a way. Initial reaction on the 66 is that it's got an audible sweet spot. And feels softer due to

The more aggressive milling. Taking it out on the course today and will report back.

What I didn't like about the Karsten TR was the mushy feel / lack of solid feel. Perhaps it was the elastomer badge in the cavity, but can anyone compare that line to these? My hope is these have a better feel without the badge in the cavity. Anser 2 w/ sound slot is tempting.

Has anyone had problems getting a hold of Mortons? I have left two messages and no response back. Those of you that have used them will you please pm me their number just to make sure I have it right. Sounds like it on the machine that I left a message on just starting to wonder though with no call back.

Tried my Anser out on the course Saturday... liked it, don't love it. Putters for me are about feel, and this one just doesn't have the same feel as my standby Cameron. I can't pick out anything specific I don't like about it, but it simply doesn't provide the same feedback I'm used to. The ball comes off the face nicely, it looks great at address, and does feel solid, but unfortunately it's just not the one.
