I had some time this afternoon to kill and it was hot outdoors ( low 90 degrees F in our area ).

I remembered reading a post here about Seattle GW had a beat up Scotty Cameron Putter on the eBay so why not ?

I went down there and nothing special , a few sets of incomplete irons and junkers......... then I saw maybe the best of the bunch , these were the Nickent 4DX iron woods 3 and 4. Looks clean and seldom used so, I picked them up thinking these could be a nice addition to the spare bag. Thought the price tag was $9.89 each so I was not sure I want them that bad, but, eventually I lined up in the check out with them.

Came paying time, I thought I heard it was $24.02 for both, so I paid $25 thinking the sales tax should have been 10.3%. The cashier counted the money in front of me and said $44.02 please ! I took a second look at the price tag and the old tag said, $19.89 each....... I walked out without them and thinking who priced these ?

Where were the 99 cents stuff ?

That’s crazy. Walked away from a Ben Hogan bag that was priced really high as well. GW is all over the map. There’s one next to my house that prices clubs at $1-$3 and then one a few miles down that has them at $4-$8. Walled away from a Ping driver that was $20 at another one.

Crazy is right, they'll price a golf club near full market value ( displayed poorly ) and sell a $300,000 painting for $15.

Saw a sterling silver cup for $9.00, didn't have time to check the hallmark for whether it's a solid sterling piece or plated.

I guess , when one gets them for free, they tend not to spend too much time on them.

That Seattle GW is in the shady part of town with homeless camps all along the the freeway across the street. Probably not going back there , ever.

A problem created by our law maker for the most part. They had forgotten whom voted them into the office.

Those Pings are awesome. No plus sign so are these legal?

No, the ones with legal groves have the upsidedown address and say PAT PENDING. Still a great find though!

Most eye 2s do not have legal grooves

I'll need to travel outside of our area to shop thrift stores.
I live in an area that has dozens of golf courses. So golf is a way of life here during the summer. So the bins are generally overflowing with nice clubs.

Those Nike are nice find. Are you going to game them ?

Thanks, but I will not. Into vintage clubs now. I have some Ben Hogan Edge irons that I'm going to game.

For some reason these were price $4.99 per club at Goodwill, but I guess I can't complain too much. d82830077d19027bddcd29e550f16203.jpg

NixLix-

Your question was answered a few years ago-

"Yes. The VIP iron models were my first assignment with MacGregor. That included the Split/Level soles." -Don White

So if these irons are 1971 MacGregor VIP Limited with Split Level soles, there is a very good chance Don White ground them.

Yes, this is a photo of Don White grinding someones iron in 2012.

Please oh please do not tell me that is true------ The one set of Macgregor clubs I truly hate---- I guess I stuck my foot in my mouth on the previous reply--- I can not believe for the life of me Don White ground something that ugly-- They look ugly at address to me too

Tee , pencil and balls

Super find! Very nice. Love the bag & the 3 1/2 & 4 1/2 woods! Congrats

Thank you Sir, was realy excited finding it myself as well.

Thinking of taking the bag on the course :-)

Nice find.

The stuff you find at the bottom of a bag is sometimes the most exciting part for me, old scorecards, day tickets, etc.

The signature on the Leven clubs is George Nicoll, I've got a set of similar looking Pinsplitter irons.

You should definitely get the bag out and play them!

It's not all about the score.
