Bringing back the old Faithfuls. Who is doing it?

Hard to go "back" to your old faithfuls when you never stopped using them. I've had the same bag since 2011 apart from getting fresh Vokeys.

I just sold my 913 d2 driver and put my old Launcher Comp back in play. Also sold my ping ie1 irons and put my i3+ irons back in play. The newer clubs were good but the older clubs are just as good if not better for me.

I'm sure I'll try newer clubs again next year but not sure I'll find anything better.

I sold my Mizuno JPX EZ Forged irons and went back to a set of Big Bertha 2002 irons. I originally had a set in 2003, but found another set on Callaway Preowned. I have definitely been hitting more greens, sometimes you don't know what you had until it is gone. Just glad I could find some more.

i3 and i3+ are awesome.

 

I haven't sold my ie1s yet, but I did something similar. Went back to my i5s. Just accustomed to them over the years I guess. And they hold up so well, really tough.

 

I really prefer the vintage Pings. Eye2/Eye2+/ISI/i3/i3+/i5. Can't go wrong with any of them.

My friend played those years ago. So easy to hit. Just high straight shots. I really like the 2002, 2004, and 2006 models a lot.

 

Only issue I had was keeping them low in wind. The course I play at regularly can play very long with the headwinds that come up.

 

Other than that they are great.

Yea. I tried hard this summer to quit my 680 set. No dice. Best iron set pound for Pound , dollar for dollar out there. Same for my old longneck Newport. Never really had been unseated. Yet I keep trying. Why ? I should just practice twice as much with it.

I agree, the i5's are also a great set. I'm a big fan of the older Pings as well.

Very true, I might be sad the first windy day I play with them. But for now it has been a great reunion.

I just put my old Titleist 980f 15 degree 3 wood with DGs-300 shaft in the bag. It is so heavy. It doesn't fly as far as a new 3-wood, but it sure is smooth.

Still gaming a Bridgestone J40 430 driver. Have tried Titleist 913, 915, Callaway XR Pro, Bridgestone J15. Nothing so far can kick it out of the bag. Currently experimenting with a Cobra LTD Pro. We'll see how it goes.

I've never had a club in the bag long enough to have an old faithful. Sounds nice though.
