I hope everyone gets on the same page so we have a "fair" final round. It would be awful for guys to have to play 27 holes on the last day, while some only have to play 18.

Really happy to see Sergio avoid damage on that last hole. It'd be great to see him finally win a major this weekend. He's only 36 so getting one major under his belt could set him up for a few more before he hits his late 40s.

Hey Richard,

Been awhile since I've posted on the forum and I'm sure you've addresses it before but why all the hate on DJ? Seems like people here either love him or hate him. Genuinely curious. Personally I am a huge fan. He's had some issues but who hasn't? Pulling for him hard this week...although your post more or less has been rooted in my mind for a long time as I watch him play unfortunately haha :)

Hey Bro, it's great to see ya posting as I really enjoy your thoughts and opinions!

Regarding DBag, and hate is a tad strong though I realise that that's a virtual world phenomina and you either like em or you're a hater however pertaining to his Play, it's really quite aimple-

He always finds a way to lose in a major-

I'm a firm believer that future outcomes can be accurately forecasted based on past performance.

His past performances in Majors speaks for itself

He ALWAYS has found a way to lose-

By shooting 80-

By not knowing the rules-

By missing critical putts-

End of story.

I don't speak of this however you asked so I'm gonna answer-

As a Man he's a piece of s***!!!

He slept with two of his peers' wives-

Yes, one was separates however the guy was trying to get back with his wife and regardless, they were still married-

I'm not debating this or discussing this further however I know this as a fact and I can look past a lot and very very very rarely judge another man.

However he crossed a line that I will judge on-

The booze, blow and partying is nothing-

Its a phase some go through and hopefully they get through it without hurting themselves or others.

He did not-

He's a scumbag-

Other than that I'm good with him

Again, I would not have spoken of this if you had not asked Bro-

Just my .03 worth...

I hope that you'll post as time permits!!

Stay well my Friend :)

My Best,

Richard

You are the worst poster on the forum hands down

Your comments make me cringe after cringe

Yet you do not block me?

"Your comments make me cringe after cringe"

Uh, yea ok.....

And no, I am not the worst poster on the forum, regardless of where your hands are

I do appreciate the "like" that you gave me on the DJ post though

What are your thoughts on the Open?

Sir Richard, just a quick note to you. I have been a member on WRX since 2007 so I am not some newbie. Do you really have to comment so much and so often? I know the board is open and free to members that stay within the rules, and I am sure you are within the rules, but c'mon man don't you think you are a bit overbearing?

Learn to accept it...

Or block me......

Right guys. Forget talking rubbish. This is the US Open. Massive massive Saturday ahead. Big egos on the line.

Big 2nd rounds for the bad first round guys and they are back in the game.

This should be epic on an epic track.

My picks are DJ Furyk Sergio Sullivan Westwood, but it's wide US Open.

Are the fans in Pennsylvania nicer than in other parts of the US? No mash potatoes or anything. They are even rooting for Sergio. Or may the idiots come out at the weekend?

Nope, you won't see that trash here.

Not that there aren't idiots however the next two days should mirror the first two-

If one should appear there is absolutely zero tolerance and they will not be asked to be quiet, they will be escorted from the grounds.

That would be great if Sergio could get his first here!!

Enjoy the weekend :)

From a Euro perspective - would be great if Sergio could get his first 'anywhere' !

Hope your well Richard.

Oakmont looks a picture on TV. What a great course. So narrow targets those fairways. It looks like the best bet on approaches are short front on long approaches or massive drives followed by towering spinny wedges otherwise the ball just rolls off in to the cabbage!

Tough school the US Open.

And you can't blame all the mashed potatoes on local fans, especially at the bigger tourneys.

Will everyone finish their third round tomorrow? I sort of want it to be a fair as possible on the last day.

9:12 is the final tee time of the morning so let's say the second round gets completed around 2:00. They could spend an hour forming the third round pairings and doing a quick brush up of the golf course (possibly roll the greens in between like they did Friday?) and then start the third round at 3:00 with threesomes and double tees. With the now abbreviated field the last tee time would be about 4:10 or so which would give them maybe 4 hours and 30 minutes to finish the third round.

Even if a few groups didn't finish, they would likely be pretty far back in the pack since they were the ones that barely made the cut so it probably wouldn't affect the top of the leaderboard. Worst case scenario is those guys have to go back out early Sunday to finish a couple holes and then the final round can be played as normal.

Anyone else see it going down differently?

Haven't read through this thread but just wanted to say I'm actually very impressed with Fox's coverage... tons of holes with shot tracer, had live golf from 8am-9pm yesterday, most of the commentators know what they're talking about... looking forward to the next two rounds today.

Really just not a fan of Joe Buck but after years and years of him doing every sport, I've just learned to tune him out.

Can someone tell me how I can apply integrity to my golf shots?
hell some of my shots are not even ethical! My whole game needs a Sarbanes Oxley forensic in fact...

When they're showing actual golf, they have done a decent job. It's all that other "Fox" stuff I can't stand. Holly Sonders standing in front of a touchscreen talking about things players have tweeted. Some English guy blowing on a golf ball on the green. I could do without a lot of that.

What about the microphone in the cups to capture the sound of the ball going in? Neat idea, but it sounds like a video game or something. Almost sounds artificial like there really isnt a mic in there and some guy is just pushing a sound effects button on holed putts.

Fox just seems to try too hard (think glowing hockey puck). Sometimes Keep It Simple Stupid is a good rule to go by.

One thing I will give them credit for was the overhead shot tracer on the 17th hole. That's a neat twist on the traditional down-the-line shot tracer and it's perfect for the driveable 17th. Actually wouldn't mind seeing that on some other holes.

According to press reports the USGA thinks and is planning on the last few groups having to finish Sunday morning, then they can pair and go. If only six or seven groups are out on the course on Sunday AM i think that is a job well done by the Oakmont staff and the USGA.

How high will the cut go today? Will it stay at +6, or will it go to +7 or +8?

Don't you have it backwards? The leaders will be last off and most likely to not finish.

So the USGA admitted they are unhappy with the current cut line so they are screwing over this 2nd group of players and triple cutting and rolling the greens. I get that mother nature can make it a "luck of the draw" for Thursday and Friday, but they usually do their best to try and make the course the same condition for the players.

This is pretty blatantly saying, "Nah, we want it harder, now. We don't care it's still the 2nd round, or that it isn't fair for this group. We don't want to see these numbers."

I guess I shouldn't be surprised by it, but somehow I am...

You are correct. Good catch. Early morning post without any coffee!

So yes, I suppose we may see the leaders not finish today after all then.

Wait a minute. What about when Arnie played Jack? :stop:

Different Times and they learned from that tournament and though it's been decades, Guys who were there brought that up in the 70's and into the 80's. I was a "runner" in 1973, and they worried with Arnie being in contention going into the weekend that fans might get rude and they weren't so much worried about Jack because he was a decade+ into his career versus 1962 however they were worried about the other Players and his Playing Partners.

I don't remember anything being brought up though at that age(13yo), I didn't attend the volunteer meetings. I just stayed near a few comittee guys and if a message had to get to any volunteers who didn't have a walkie talkie, they sent me on my way. Most of my "running" was on the weekend and had to do with getting scores before the coverage started.

From my first Committee in 1983, there was zero tolerance. The only time that sticks out was a minor incident in 1994 at the refreshment stand at #10 on Sunday when 4 college kids got belligerent and loud with Monty and they were escorted out.

Like I said, we've got idiots, they just don't last long, lol.

Enjoy the weekend Tanny :)
