Well, there's always Jim Rome's "golf guy." Pretty much sums everything up.

We have one guy that is difficult to play with because he likes to cheat and fudge his scorecard. When he first started playing with us, we didnt care because he was shooting in the 100s each and every round, but would card mid 90s. It didnt bother any of us because he was by far the worst in the group and never tried to brag or talk crap after a hole because everyone knew he didnt shoot lower than the rest. We all start playing a lot more, I got lessons, as did a few other guys. Our scores are improving, I am in the mid to low 80s now and the rest of the guys are mid to high 80s and sometimes in the 90s. Well he didnt get any better, but still like to cheat. However, now it bothers us because he tries to claim he shot in the 80s, he won this hole that hole, etc. Yet, when we revisit the hole, hes missed 3 strokes. He often fluffs his ball and will pick it up to "identify it" if its a crap lie. We really only start to harp on him when hes trying to say he beat anyone or did better when clearly he did not. You can cheat all you want, I dont really care, i play golf against myself and try and improve from each round. But, when you start bragging or claiming to have beat someone and we know you are cheating, it becomes a problem. Its funny because this guy never wants to play any money games which is strange, but that seems par for those that stretch the truth with their scores.
