Tyson Lamb Putters & Crafts

Recommended Posts

Got to play golf with Raiders yesterday and he was gracious enough to let me have my choice of Camdens to putt with. Naturally I had to choose “The Gambler”. I’ve never putt with that style head before and it was quite easy to line up once Raiders let me know thwhere the sweet spot was. Though pretty easy to find it after a few practice putts. I’m used to gaming 365g putters and this one at 350 felt just as heavy. Putter felt amazing and being able to check out the putter in person and see such quality craftsmanship, I know I will be purchasing one of Tyson’s putters in the future.

i like his honesty.

though i've been and still am cameron sucker, i absolutely love Lamb's putters.

Too bad I was changing my baby's diaper right at the release.

I wiped whatever needed to be wiped then logged in, still had a chance to add blank NP2 style (don't even know name) in the cart then it was gone.

oh well, my baby first.

Tyson does great work. I know he's been extremely busy, and I don't expect to be able to pick up a putter any time soon, but I'd love to pick up a divot tool when he gets around to releasing some more of those.

This thread is a fascinating read. An interesting study in human behaviour. I'm waiting for the story to develop further. Feel like I'm reading a serial that's being released monthly chapter by chapter. The latest edition is but another plot twist. I often root for the protagonist so I'm hoping for a happy ending.

I'll disagree with Raiders on one point. WRX is populated by many amazing members. Don't paint with broad brush strokes because you are not satisfied with the direction one thread is taking.

Also, if this is "hell breaking loose" then please inform me when the apocalypse is over. At the end of the day this thread is living in the land of 1k - 3k+ putters, $100+ headcovers, and $55+ ball markers.

Might be cool for someone to start a thread that is truly focused on Lamb putters and accessories. Even if the number of putters are limited at the moment. Take the focus off of the back and forth and shine a light on handsome putters, like the "Gambler" above. Less talk, more images of quality craftsmanship. Leave this thread as a discussion thread for the brand (good, bad and otherwise). "Lambassadors" can continue with their glowing support and dissenters can continue to criticize. I bet all of the pages thus far would be boiled down to 5 pages of images and dialogue.

As an aside, ordered a custom from Tad Moore a few weeks back and the process has lacked drama to this point. I'm totally fine with that.

I love this.

As Santo mentioned in one of his posts, the SoCal folks / flippers have put a bad taste in many Cameron collectors mouths and has (IMHO) changed the vibe over on TCC ever since the Gallery opened. Flippers have been and always will be a part of any hobby of collectibles, and in many cases, if it weren't for flippers then a lot of people wouldn't be able to purchase some of the merchandise. However, I don't think that Scotty is doing as much as he can to try and control (somewhat anyway) the flippers. In many, if not most cases, they know who the flippers are whether they are people coming in and buying from the Gallery all the time (and then putting the merchandise on eBay or one of the (now many) Facebook sites at big mark ups), or those flippers snatching up most of the putters released from the Gallery online every Wednesday and re-selling. True collectors or people who actually want to game the products are getting left out...........unless they are willing to pay the flippers prices.

It's GREAT to see that Lamb is going to try and do something different regarding the greedy flippers. Very refreshing to see.

Flippers are part of any hobby. SC collectors and fans can attest. Its rampant. Hard to keep them from finding loopholes. Sure its turned people away because the affordable tour market disappeared. So it became either an OTR or $2.5-3k putter. There are still exceptions if you are into older tour putters but those aren't seen as often for sale on TCC sadly. I sold my 009 for what I bought it for. Am I stupid? Perhaps. Am I anti-flipping? No. Have at it. But if I get left in the dust that's on me. Can't play ignorant to its existence. Tyson wants to curb the flipping? It will be challenging. Due to the size of the output they can likely curb it for now and especially on immediate online sales. Long term? Not sure its realistic. But I wish him and Tana best of luck on their quest.

Part of the reason I am interested in Lamb putters is the level of craftmanship coming out from an up and comer. The branding is great. Very classic cool with a bit of an edge if you want it. Mix in a little fun (not cartoony or cheesy) and its a recipe for success. Will there be hiccups and missteps? Sure. Every growing business goes through this. I know Scotty has had to navigate new waters and pave new paths for himself on his rise. Missteps are part of it. But so much of that is buried in internet archives if it was ever available knowledge at all. Thats where the two really differ. Tyson is growing in front of our eyes. Scotty never faced the level of public scrutiny this early on his career. He was nearly out of it very early on for selling his putters at $300 per way back when. No one was doing that at that time. He still gets criticisms. That's what happens when you are on top. The praise more than makes up for it.

I've balked at chiming in on this debate because I wanted to wait and see how the putter release was going to go and I didn't care for the personal stuff. We should be allowed to like and support without feeling the need to defend ourselves. Being a longtime Scotty fan I've felt defensive so places like PutterTalk and WRX didn't feel overly welcoming. I see nothing has changed. Its pretty disappointing.

I've never crapped on Betti guys or Byron guys. I don't plan on starting and I don't see why Scotty guys should crap on Lamb guys and vice versa.

Thanks for letting me say my peace.

I hope to spend a bit more time checking in on WRX but a guy only has so much free time at work. :D

Be well.

That’s been on there for Awhile.. crazy.

I wonder how much the person got for trade in?

I hope Tyson produces some more ball markers and divot tools. Looks like he's been concentrating on putters and headcovers, which is understandable obviously.

I'm very glad a scored a Stars and Stripes headcover before they sold out. Love it!

So this putter was built and sold to Jim Butler at TableRock. I believe Second Swing purchased it from Jim Butler and has had it for sale on their site and eBay ever since. This problem is that each hand was trying to make money off their purchase, hence the now high mark up. I'm sure if 2nd swing waits long enough, someone will buy it at their asking price...... how long? may take awhile is my guess. Shame really, it's an interesting stick.

How long does one have to keep a putter before they can sell it to avoid being labeled a "flipper"?

I don't think there's a time frame, per say. I've purchased putters, tried them out and decided they weren't for me, and then put them on the market shortly after trying them. But all I do is try to get my money back (or at least not take a huge hit). I don't pull the grip, sell the headcover separately, and ask a lot more for the stripped down putter than what I paid for it.

If you get labelled a flipper, it's going to be for a reason other than selling a putter shortly after purchasing it.

The next question would be at what dollar amount of profit do you get labeled a flipper, if you sell it shortly after buying it?

technically any profit makes you a flipper in my mind. if it’s for a dollar you’re just a dumb flipper. things don’t generally appreciate in value so soon after they become “used” unless it’s a flippable item. so if you get your money back or sell for your cost plus shipping, you’re not a flipper because you didn’t gain anything.

I think it's admirable of Lamb Crafted to take an early stance like this against blatant flipping practices. As I think these kind of stances may be harder and harder to take as their business grows, helping set an early tone against the matter may help down the road. Time will tell.

In my opinion, a full season.

well, his putters are basically buying without trying -- so, there's the chance that what you bought isn't fit for you or right for you...then what?

Fair enough. I'd say anyone who sells for exactly what they have into it (price + shipping + whatever other expense) is not a flipper, even if they sell shortly after buying.

Could agree and get behind that. I'm sure Tyson wouldn't mind it either.

Doesn't work for you, you're not trying to make money just what u paid...fair enough.

Then it’s used because you gamed it and you’ll be lucky to get close to the same price you paid for it.

That's not what I meant - but if u use it for a round...what usage is enough for you to get what u paid back? One round? Not playing with it but rolling it in your house ? Is that not use?

I was just saying if you actually rolled putts with it you probably won’t get more than you paid if it doesn’t work for you. I prefer to try my putters out on a green though.
