The Ultimate Titleist 917 Driver Fitting at TPI Oceanside (Launch Monitor Data Added Pg. 4)

Yep, the High-Right miss. Exact opposite of the Low-Left miss that made the SLDR famous. Instead of HR or LL, lets go MM.

917 F2 13.5* - Rogue Max 70
816 H2 19.0* - D+ Plus 90

Anyone who has the 917 should test the new TM and Cally offerings. You will switch.

I won't. I just had the latest TM offering and it was one of my least successful drivers ever. I'm sure the Cally will be great, but I'm 100% satisfied with the 917 and doubt I'll even bother to hit the Epic. I'm actually doing my own Epic event over the last 10 days or so - by ordering a bunch of stuff from Titleist and seeing how many Titleist boxes I can get to show up this month to complement the 917D3 I got last month. So far I'm at a 917 3 wood, SM6 sand wedge, and SM6 lob wedge.

TitleistLefty? Haha maybe a name change is in order. ;)

Titleist and Ping far and away have the best custom builds.... Callaway and TM will not SW clubs as far as I know...

That's really surprising, TBH. It can't be that much effort/cost to do so.

I am certain that TM will not.... Callaway I am 95% sure, I think that is why they started selling the weight kits for some of their drivers. Custom department for these OEM's means a different grip, with an extra wrap and you pick a shaft..

I agree Titleist and Ping are the best at custom fits and Titleist has the best shaft offerings. But to be honest I don't trust an OEM that's churning out 50,000 units to get my driver or any club right. I do all my own builds and hotmelt so it's done right and exactly to spec.

Which is why I like the fact that Taylormade makes the 2017 M2 head so light. I have a buddy who has one already and said that his is 190 grams. Perfect to fill up with hot melt! Geocoustic? More like HotMeltcoustic.

Simmer down over there!!! :D

As for light heads I agree. I actually like that OEM's are going with these 50 and 60g shafts and build the heads super light. Leaves plenty of room to customize.

i dont know guys.. has anyone ever swung a driver and said " gee this thing is too heavy" ? or is it just me ? ive never said that ...ever....

edit and im not saying that from a " me strong " point of view... i mean it from the " i can tell where the head is " point of view.... if it feels head heavy imm 100% more likely to hit it striaght

Alright already, had my 917 for about a month now and it has been in play since day 1 (11/16). I honestly like to look of the driver, with regards to alignment (which, at the moment, is "King") and in all seriousness has been achieving new benchmarks for me in terms of distance off the tee. I am a member of a Club here in the desert and play 3-4 times a week. So my gains are not only measured in matrixes & formulas & other wild-a** theories, but in actual play in daily conditions. So what's that say about me, man I just love to go out there and kick the ball around, have a few beers, and maybe, just maybe have some bragging rights. I have to admit that for the longest time I thought you could go out and buy a better game, then realized "you" might be able to but it didn't work for me. Just enjoy what we have while you can. Love the game, hate the Bull____!

I agree with this - ordered a custom set of 716CBs (lie, shaft, swingweight), and all came perfectly on spec.

917 D2 is pretty light with no weight in it...

That's crazy....I just weighed a D2 at 186 with no weight.

Played with KPH808 today and hit his D3 a few times good for good with my M1. His D3 is 8.5 set to 7.75 with a HZRDUS Hand Crafted vs my M1 Tour head set to 9.5 with a Tensei White. My M1 was 25 yards passed the D3 on two very solid balls. D3 Looks, feels and sounds great, and I'm sure I can squeeze a few yards out of it with a fitting. I mean it might get within 10 yards on a good day.

I have had pretty much the exact opposite between my m1 and this new D3. Good for good it's 10 yards longer. Bad for bad, it's 50 yards longer (and still in bounds).

If your M1 was fit for you, you would have a hell of a time comparing any club with nearly less than 2 degrees of loft. If I went down to 7.75 from my 9.5 head, launch angle would be super low leaving a lot of yardage on the table.

Their is no doubt in my mind the 8.5 D3 is the best Titleist loft for me. I have been fit at TPI multiple times for drivers and every time it was a 7.5 or 8.5 head.
