Only $200 to check your golf clubs and another $75 to bring your carry-on, and another $50 to pick your seat...each way!

Note: I have no idea what their fees are these days, but it used to be ridiculous...

Choosing your seat? You're getting way too fancy for my taste. It's a budget airline for a reason! I can live out of a small backpack for up to a week. So I never pay any luggage fees, and never choose my seats. I get some pretty cheap flights.

Now, adding golf clubs to the mix is something I've never ventured into.

Frontier was decent, about 13 years ago.

FIFY

I flew them out for my buddy's wedding about 5 years ago and that was the last straw. I genuinely felt bad for their flight attendants that had to walk up and down the aisle pushing their credit card after having them on the PA for 10 minutes prior to that.

It's just a checked bag, actually. So the standard baggage fee applies, which I think is $25. I've flown them a few times with clubs and it's no different than any of the other airlines that charge a bag fee. It's when your bag is overweight that it gets to be a problem. My travel bag regularly clocks in at 49.5 lbs, so I can't stash balls away in there like I would. It's also the reason I want to pick up a lighter carry bag. Love my Ogio, but it's too heavy to travel with, especially since my travel bag is way heavy already.

Yes sir, I'll be there. I gotta get a practice round in, probably the Wednesday beforehand. I think I'll end up staying with a friend in Dillon but I'm not sure. At least it will be closer and won't cost anything.

NICE! let me know when you plan on playing. I actually have to work the couple days before the event starts, but let me know if you have any questions about the course... I'll put a little preview together for you.

going full WRX at work on a tuesday is totally legit. I applaud your dedication.

I'm putting at work right now.

Kudos to both of you. Where do you work that you can putt on the clock?!

Red Sky

Congrats to both of you, I somehow made it through to Sonnenalp at Ft. Collins despite hitting my driver poorly and not putting well. Fortunately after snapping my drive OB on 8, the course allows you to keep driver in the bag.

One of the guys I played with, AJ Ott, made it to US Am.

Anyway we should have a WRX practice round at Sonnenalp. Wednesday before the event is the only day I can do it though...

Nice work. I'm definitely down. Chris can probably set a time up for us today since it's 2 weeks out.

Hey fellas. A fellow WRX'er from Vegas is coming into town next week and we're playing 36 on Friday at Riverdale (7am planned) and GVR (12:15 planned). We need a fourth for both rounds. Anyone interested in either/both?

Jacob, mentioned this in the hat thread, but my bad on missing your note about shipping. I placed my order right after and didn't refresh to see your message. Grrrrrr.

Congrats on getting through to Sonnenalp! AJ Ott is a really, really good player...

My son is an alternate for the USAm from Columbine and will be in Sonnenalp as well. -4 didn't quite make it. Really, really long odds to get into the USAm, but he's hopeful that the stars align....need quite a few of the exempt players to turn pro :).

Your son has to be a real good stick to shoot -4 out there. Did he graduate this year?

I saw 3 guys decided to go low at that qualifier. Hope your son gets the alternate call! I think the wind at Ft. Collins help keep the scores higher. The trees there are brutal. Once you're in there you can punch out or hit a tree lol.

Yeah, that's the one I tried for. I was +5 through 5 before I stopped trying to hit a cut off the tee and decided it was the day for a draw. After that I played pretty well but my day was toast already by that point. Kept it to a respectable +7 at least. Tried to make a run by making 7 birdies in the second round but they got overshadowed by 6 bogies and a double, lol.

EDIT: I won't do the Columbine one any more. No push carts and I just don't like the golf course design very much. Ft. Collins CC was AWESOME; I absolutely love that track.

Thanks...he went 73/67...really good day. He graduated high school this year (Valor) and is off to play college golf @ Faulkner University in Alabama in a few weeks. He wanted to go to a small school in the South-they play in a good conference across AL, MS, GA, FL. The next adventure is about to begin...

Good luck to him out there. Hopefully I'll catch either/both of you in a couple weeks in Edwards.

Anyone ever play the Country Club at Woodmoor down in Monument? They have a 4-some open on Golf Now for Sunday at 11:03am. $48.75 a person with cart. Anyone want to play?

I've driven by it when taking 83 down to floorball. It looks nice.

It would've been cool to combine that with floorball this Sunday, but, sadly, I'm traveling to Florida for work that day.

Columbine is miserably awkward to me. When I have the "right" club in my hand, it feel wrong. Just gross. I've heard they're wait-listed at 70K right now!.

Colorado Ski & Golf in Park Meadows is selling all golf bags for 20% off. This includes Ping.

There is a very light Ping carry bag (for traveling?) that is currently $56 after discount.

My brother Ryan will be playing in his first summer tournament tomorrow -- The Longmont Junior City Championship, which is a 3 day event held at the 3 muni courses here.

Positive golf thoughts much appreciated. :D

Here's a recent photo of some laser-focus too.

Tear'em up Ryan. Monte would be proud :)
