I just played Redlands Mesa and Devil's Thumb, both great courses. Redlands Mesa is just awesome.

Anyone with tattoos care to comment on the trials and tribulations of playing with new ink? Getting my first tomorrow (likely inner bicep, unless the artist and I decide otherwise) and am not playing until the end of the month...but still a little worried how keeping the irritation to a minimum will go.

Β

Any advice, if you've found yourself in this situation?

Β

Don't have any advice since I didn't play golf when I got my first tattoo.

Β

I have been thinking about getting another one on my right shoulder just need to find a good artist. Want to find one that good with Japanese style tattoos. Any one have any suggestions?

I'll let you know what I see from the shop I'm going to (Til Death). They've got loads of great artists there, but not sure if anyone specializes in what you're looking for.

I've been talking about getting one for years; long before we even got to Denver. Just waited for the right time and artist. When our daughter was born I'd pretty much decided on getting something for her. I knew I wanted a traditional American style, so I started looking on Yelp, weirdly enough, for shops that are highly regarded. After I found the shop, I looked at their lineup of artists and portfolios, but Instagram was the real way I could watch their current work. So I scoped out a few artists I thought would do the best work, and when they posted they were booking for July, I fired off an email!

Β

Instagram is a magical thing. Too Death's insta is loaded, and they track back to the artist, so you can get a great idea of who does what. Just can't remember about Japanese style off the top of my head.

Tried this beauty today -- demos came in to the course in boxes as I walked in. Head pro offered to open them up so I could try. Was the first one to hit it straight out of the plastic.

All I've been hearing about this is amazing. It even sounds like it will be a worthwhile upgrade from the G. How was the loft compared to what you've previously played? Some have said that you'll need to loft down for the same ball flight.

I'm really excited to give the G400 a try. I'm still playing a G20 since I've yet to find anything I like better. The G25 and G30 always had a sound and feel that I didn't like as much. I never tried the G, but I've heard they have a offputting sound as well. The things I've seen online the last couple of days makes it seem like the G400 resolves a lot of those complaints.

Β

Although I'm secretly hoping I dont like it. A new driver is going to cost me the price of a golf club and the price of a new handbag for the wife...

If you're picky about feel and especially sound the M2 is a must try.... I don't think the sound off a driver could be better. Just one mans opinion tho....

Β

I've always been a Ping guy and sort of despised Taylor Made but can't deny how good the M2 is. Haven't hit the G400 yet tho. Reviews online are solid... but what would you expect.

That's funny. I've never met a TaylorMade driver that I liked, and this year I checked out the M1 and M2 line since they're getting great press. The M1 440 actually surprised me because I thought it felt great on the first shot, which I've never said about a TM driver before. Kept swinging for about 15-20 balls in the sim at Golf Galaxy, and seemed like dispersion was all over the place. Maybe it was the shaft, just not a good fit for me. Liked the look, sound, and feel... just didn't like the results. Lol.

Β

I keep telling myself no more clubs without going to get a full bag fitting. Either going to go to Club Champion or Dan W based on feedback I've seen earlier in this thread. Although I'm sure I'm going to stop by GG or PGASS after work some night this week and try the G400... we'll see what kind of willpower I have.

Β

You've been hearing pretty correctly.

Β

I know it's not all the club, and the demo is a physically longer shaft length than my G, but on my little SSR I hit a couple drives that registered at 112 -- had to do a double take. I have never cracked 110 on the SSR. The look just makes you want to hit it. I was hitting great shots -- and this with a demo that wouldn't remotely fit me. An SFT at 10 degree I believe.

Β

I get officially fitted for a driver on Friday I think, and I REALLY want the PING to win, and I think it has a good chance. I think PING knocked it out of the park with this one and that's me objectively saying so too. They did really well on the Alta shaft too.

Β

It's like PING found a cross between a composite feeling driver and the old G30/G. Feels not as clunky as an Epic -- actually feels a LOT like the 917 to me. Pleasantly surprised. Sound is amazing.

I might be all in on the G400 too based on what I've heard - hoping Ping comes by with a demo day somewhere, or someone who can let you demo outside will have a reasonable selection of shafts to try out...

Anyone hit the new Crossover yet? Only club in the bag I'm looking to change is my hybrid. I cannot seem to get along with it most days. I'd be in on the Cobra Utility, but the darn adapter is different, so I'm considering all options. Crossover was intriguing last year, and am also interested in the Srixon utility iron, and possibly a T-MB...but that seems like a slightly different club than I'm looking for. Less driving iron and more "not quite a hybrid but mostly does what a hybrid does."

I have looked at them a little bit, but personally cannot stand the way they look down at the ball. Thats just me personally. Have you looked into trying the Adams Pro or Pro mini, they can be had for pretty cheap, and I love mine.

I'm a fan of the T-MB. I got them to replace or as an alternative to my hybrids. Completely got rid of the 4h but exchange 3h & T-MB3 depending on the course. One thing I do miss from the hybrid is the ease of hitting the ball out of the rough.

Thanks for the write up Joel. I agree with all of that. Drove over and played it Wednesday on a nice cloudy, muggy, 83 degree day. Thought the course was fine, people are going to go low. Sets up well for me because I'm not the longest hitter. Looking forward to a long day tomorrow with two groups on most holes. You are paired up with my buddy steve for the first round. We are leaving Avon area around 6 am so he might be a little groggy but you guys will have fun hammering it around out there. See ya tomorrow

I know that I am going out on a limb here but I thought I would at least ask. Is there anyone that is interested in playing in the member-guest tourney at Pelican Lakes in Windsor. It's next weekend July 21-23 and it's $300. I have a copy of the format I can send if your interested. I've struck out in my inner and even outer circle. I'm a 7.1 handicap and an all around good guy to play with. Please let me know if you are interested.

What I like about watching the PGA in Sweden is that we get the international feed, which includes about 6 hours of extra coverage per day of the really early rounds. The commentators, unfortunately, are awful (which is probably why they are doing these feeds). It switches to Swedish commentators during the normal broadcast.

Β

Oops... Just noticed that it is simply the PGA Tour Live stream.

Β

I won't be here for The Open, but that is even better. Literally 12 hours of coverage per day (9am to 9pm) with no commercials.

Wonderful pictures up there!

Β

And I'm just posting to say how excited I am, but this forum is no longer blocked on my work's internet!!!! YAY!!!

Β

Over the July 4th weekend, I played 72 holes in 5 days, which is awesome. Then last weekend I didn't get out at all. And unfortunately, doesn't look like I can get out this weekend either. I guess I shouldn't complain about having a social life for once though.

Oh man, that's tempting. I definitely have the weekend free. I'm around the same handicap level, and have played the course once, so I wouldn't be flying in blind.
