I don't quite understand how the amateurs keep score. A few minutes ago on the first hole, Aaron Rodgers hit his birdie putt about seven feet past the hole. Instead of marking the ball, he simply picked it up.

They apparently play with gimmes. I saw Timberlake do the same thing. Missed his par putt and just picked up his ball and the announcers said he got a bogie

I just said the same thing to my wife. I'm assuming if the pro is in with a number and the Am isn't stroking they just wipe it away if they miss. I hope they aren't entering these scores!

I mean it's a legitimate tournament...a gimmie is a bit strange. I mean it's not like Rodgers was putting for a double, he had a par putt left.

I think if the pro's score is equal to or better than the amateur's score with strokes, the amateur goes in his pocket just to keep pace of play up.

The handicaps that they are claiming for some of these amatures is laughable. After watching Larry the Cable Guy tee off, there is no way he is a 13. I know some of these guys are good/great golfer's but it's amazing that none of these guys are supposedly above a 16 handicap

This is Peeble Beach, one of the two most iconic courses in the world. I want to see golfers, pro golfers, golf. I don't want to see Bill Murray. If I want to see Bill Murray I will watch Groundhog Day. He was very good in Groundhog Day.

Agreed. I'm listening to IBF about 'Dave Doughnut' "He plays out of Austin Country Club and he is a really good golfer". And 'Charles Cuttlebuck' he plays at blah blah blah.

 

Thank the lord that Kenny G is still playing otherwise Faldo wouldn't be able to tell us about how he was rejected when he tried for the Jazz band. He got on the golf team though.

Jordan Speiths shoes are actually growing on me. On tv while he is wearing them they actually look very traditional compared to what they look like on the adds. Sorry just noticed them on the third tee during the Konica Minolta bius hub swing vision camara replay... lol

From a scoring perspective, this is a better ball event with strokes for the AM's. If the pro is in the hole with a par and the AM is putting for a net par, they'll just pick up as there is nothing to gain.

I know it's early in the season, but Jordan Spieth ranks #1 on TOUR in Strokes Gained-Approach to Green and tied 11th in Proximity to Hole. Could be a huge year.

I completely agree..... he just made a 12 footer for birdie and literally launched his putter through the air. Pretty obnoxious especially wearing overalls???? What the......
